Excellent back-up weapons to use against Templars, Seekers, and other anti-magic tomfoolery. Requires no exertion of mana. Most likely further enchantable/enhanceable with magic.

Guns would be a far better boon for mages than non-mages.

You need to train to handle guns to be effective with them - time better spent bettering magic, so that you can take on templars and seekers.

Very well, I humbly apologize if I make you feel uncomfortable then, and I do see the use of those oxmen should they decide to abandon the Qun to serve the Imperium. :P

The regular tevinter soldier could still use it though.

No, it was just a comment from me, I was not offended. I Serve the Circle who welcomed me ( Monkey and the Lady ) and the Army of Tevinter. But I think I still have things in common with the Qun.

This is a danger, we know what military power can do in the hands of many. The army has to continue serving and thinking it's servant. I think a military uprising is quite plausible depending on how effective these weapons can be.

I know, Red. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, and in the end, it's just a game. :P Well, I serve the Imperium and their army in my own way, but even I wouldn't deny our weakness or overlook the Qunari's strength. I believe there is wisdom in understanding your enemy as it's the key to victory, and one should never underestimate his enemy.

Aye, but I like to think of myself as a voice of dissent in the Imperium though. They are resource, asset, but they must be used wisely and calculated, I don't think it wise if we always treat them like cannon fodder and throw them away needlessly. After all the Imperium's might are composed from a vast number of mundane, but I heed your advice a military or lower class uprising. I do believe that we can be harsh and at the same time (not too) generous with our people.

Compare the effort of pulling a trigger to brute-forcing anti-magical defenses with magic.

Mage smarter, not harder.

Exactly. That's right.

Let's make an imaginative exercise?

If we consider all that we know of Tevinter until then, is a decadent society, but still with a military power that holds its edges. The power is held by only a few individuals. Magi in general. And the rest of the population we do not have much information, but are suppose to be happy with the kind of government sometimes.
As I said before, the military is still strong and is likely to have a structure governed, to keep them in line and effective. It Works.

Then the Qunaris appear with their firearms. Let's consider what you said, The mages reject the weapons and only drains soldiers will use. If the weapons are effective against the Qunaris own, the Tevinter army will be much stronger and will pull them back. If guns are also effective against mages, the military will start thinking.
''Why should I listen to this guy? We are winning the battle without magic.''

So we have a leader (a general who won several battles against the Qunaris with weapons and not magic) with troops ready to die for him.

A coup, fast, they will simply take over the government and worse, and if they ally with southern Chantry? to put the North in the ''line'' once and for all. It would be a good support. Of course we have the Chantry of the north that would be against it and depends largely on White Divine, if they were willing to help him up with an Exalted March in exchange for influence in the north.... I think the Black Divine would not have much to do but appeal to the people.

In response, the rebels could promise the end of slavery and the slave can support, which is not much, but would ensure social turmoil.

Obvious, I'm wrong. I am considering military dictatorships that I saw.

In general, I think a weapon that can ''beat'' the magicians and do not need '' a lot of training'' would be very dangerous to the state.

Oh lets not get ahead of ourselves. Mundanes will never rule Tevinter, neither would we give these "guns" just to anyone. Only selected and loyal ones (blood magic) would get to use them. Besides, our magic is stronger than any "gun". Don´t believe any old wifetales you hear, our magical shields are impervious.

That's why I want to see Tevinter - Qunari wars. I want to see how the military of Tevinter works.

Well, to be honest. So do I. I still wonder if the war elephants will appear in combat. But I hope Tevinter has legions like Rome.

Coming from a country who used to use the war elephants in war, I personally want to see the Imperium army using them in combat and not just a transportation. That said I also hope Tevinter has legions like Roman Empire.

You who understand the subject can tell me, I don't remember if the silence of the Templars is only in gameplay or  are in the lore too, if in lore too, silence, headshot, mage is dead.

You and the Ukki are creating a hippie(NO!) for me :P

How about some of the Punic Wars, this time with Tevinter on the elephants.

And I also hope the military organization is the same, even with those whistles to change positions. It will also be interesting to see the reaction of Qunaris to it.

Heh. :P

Hopefully it will turn out well for us vints who used the war elephants, and the Qunari won't have someone like Scipio Africanus on their side.

Tevinter Victor!

Not much is said of those cannons, except they were powerful. But I don´t have any of WoT books. You got any better references?

Exactly, so if you shoot a templar in a not vital part of the body, due to bad aim, that won't do much good, and they will continue their advance, and reloading takes time. You have to have training and be a sharp shooter to make good use of firearms.

Yes, this is normal. Bow or Crossbow, even the musket, I hope we are taking into account only the musket. It's difficult to load but the bullet still pierces the armor. The Templar soldiers are trained, take years to make a complete. The Musketeers, likely to receive basic training and aim is not so hard as well, unless you have vision problem. If you have a lot of Templars, he shoots the first one that appears, do not to be in a specific one. In the lung, leg, no matter, if the bullet pierce that armor and let him unable to fight, that's enough, do not even need to kill. Japan could be used as an example. This would only happen if the musketeers were behind another force, if it were only Musketeers vs Templars, depending on the scenario, the Templars would massacre them all.

It's a gameplay thing when it comes to ALL abilities, like templars could silence a rogue from throwing a grenade, or a warrior from performing a lunge.

But templars can indeed silence magic, same as mages. But it all depends on the individuals stamina and spellpower, and on how many templars combine their effort. It's not an embargo.

Then the musket would be considered a weapon like a bow or as a skill that can be silenced?

One more time - are you asking gameplay or lore?
