*Silent sounds, could it be? Caius turned his head on Nazlik belly, he´s ear pressed tightly against her little belly mound. "Silly man. There is nothing you can hear this early" she said with a smile ruffling his hair. "Oh, I wouldn´t say so. My blood is so powerful that my children will be born already reading Archon Darinius journeys to dwarven kingdoms".
Nazlik slapped him with a giggle. She gazed at him gently, moments like these brought his softer side out even it happened on rare occasions. She had been worried over the incident during their voyage through Eluvian. He had been so disoriented first and then even colder if possible. Not to her to but to other people. And he didn´t want to speak about it, thought she had started to put things together in her mind and had her own suspicions.

Suddenly a sharp knock on the door interrupted their moment. Caius sprung up from the bed sweeping his hair and straightening his robes. "Yes?", he stood before her as she slipped from the bed in her panties holding her belly disappearing behind the dressing cover.

Livia stepped in, "Im sorry master, there is something urgent we need to discuss. Privately" she said eyeing Nazlik as she peaked from behind the cover.
"In my study, half an hour" Caius said nodding. Livia bowed and walked out of the room. He turned to Nazlik, "I have to go love, she would not disturb us if the matter is not important".

Livia was already waiting for him in the study. Caius sat down in his chair. "So, something bad?" he asked seeing the look on her face.
"We could say so" she nodded serious, "the 'rescue' effort".
"Tell me" Caius leaned on the arm rest.

"Everything went haywire" Livia said silently. "Our teams broke into the house. Magister Marcus allectus himself answered at the door, he was apprehended and neutralized as planned. Despite the surprise seeing the Magister himself at the door. At the same time other teams broke into the manor, each of them having their specific goals. Some traps were defused. Several servants were captured in orderly fashion". She took a breath. "Then all hell broke loose. Ramus Allectus, the Magisters son, appeared from his quarters. Like a bull he rushed the group despite any spells and arrows shot at him".

"Really?" Caius said leaning back with a contemplating look.

"Yes. And then he exploded. It caused a chain reaction among the agents and their captives causing more explosions. Though I was against sending Publius with them, him being one of your best apprentices, I have to now say it was a good decision. Thanks to Publius fast reaction he was able to protect Vel and some others from the effects of the debris. Otherwise we would still be wondering what happened. The substance released in the explosions was kind of red mist, causing anyone getting in the way to explode in turn. It seems they were dealing with a form of Walking bomb, but substantially more powerful and destructive. Parts of the manor took a lot of damage along with most of the agents and captured members of the household dying. Our remaining agents had no other choice but to run as the ruckus woke up half the city".

"Casualties?" Caius asked calmly. "14 agents and one mage. She was one of the refugees we hired from south. No family connections here". She took a sip of the wine. Caius twirled his cup, "what about Publius and Vel?".
"On their way back here. Rest of the agents dispersed and have left Vyrantium. I first thought of them staying close, not further than Perivantium, but with all the noise this caused I have sent them to all the way to Fereldan and Orlais. There are safehouses where they can stay for the next year for things to settle down".

Caius nodded silently.
"We need to replenish our numbers in Vyrantium now, there are only 10 field agents left and a number of informants" Livia said. Caius tapped the arm rest, "get on with it. In the mean time I don´t have to tell you that Nerva is now a top priority to find. Not to be approached, only followed and reported back".

"Shall we tip Imperator about this, anonymously?" Livia asked lifting her eyebrow.
"No. If they catch Nerva then anything he has cooked up will end up in the hand of the Imperator". Caius snorted, "and that is something no one wants".

Alright then" Livia sighted. "I also think you need to see this". She dropped a small message on the table. Caius leaned forward and picked it up. He gazed at it for a moment in silence. "This is interesting" he took a sip of his wine. "What ever this means it is important. They are cooking something and want to hide the ingredients. I don´t think this falls under the normal Imperator jurisdiction".

Caius pulled one of the maps from the side table and rolled it open before him. "These are the locations of known cave´s the Orto Silencia has been using in the Val Dorma area. I want them scouted, with extreme caution obviously. If the power sources are here then we need to find them. Most likely there are not so many guards present to avoid too much outside interest. Find the lookouts, you find the cave. The lookouts need to be silenced before the cave is approached. Any energy source found need to be taken with. Then dispatched to a different location for safe keeping. Not in Minrathous though. If those are not possible to obtain then the power sources need to be destroyed. Since Carta seems to be connected to this I will contact Vartag Aradash. He still has dealings with the rebellious Carta ofshoot we used last time". He rolled the map and handed it to Livia, "get on with it, time is of the essence here".

Livia nodded, took the map and left.*

*Vel plucked his out of tune lute while slowly riding along the Imperial highway under the scorching sun. "Please stop that, have mercy on my ears, they bleed already. You are not a bard" Publius said sourly looking at his companion. "Nonsense" Vel replied imitating Caius, "this is a good opportunity for you to learn my apprentice".
"Very funny, master would probably find that funny too".

"You know, I am not sure if you are serious about that so I am just going to stop". Vel said stringing the lute on his back. "You just have no sense of humor. That is why you and boss are like two peas in a pod, just right for each other". Publius snorted at him.

They rode along in silence for a while. "You know, I didn´t thank you yet for saving my life back there", Vel said honestly, "so thank you". Publius waved his hand, "think nothing of it. I did what I had to".

"For that I will take you out to best sleaziest whorehouses I can find" vel said firmly, "maybe hook you up with some actual women".
"No thank you" Publius said in disapproval. "No?" Vel turned to look at him exaggeratedly astonished with wide eyes. "You think boss is going to hook you up with his daughter?" Vel smirked at him, "the youngest one? That shy little grey clerk mouse?". Publius said nothing.

"Who knows, maybe I can put in a good word for you?" Vel said nudging him. "You stay away from her" Publius snapped.
"All right, all right. no need to get touchy" Vel smiled winking, "I get it".

Then he noticed a group of riders approaching them. Both men fell silent. These riders passed them in orderly fashion heading towards south turning to the road leading Vyrantium.
"You know what, I knew that one leading the group" Vel said silently, "Davion. One of the Imperators right hand men".
"We need to get to Minrathous" Publius said grinning, finally something took the smile of Vel´s face.*

So when do you all think we'll get another DA Novel? 

 

If they're heading somewhere else in the next game, I guess they'd want to start with introducing it through a novel, outside of what we may find in the 2nd volume of World of Thedas.

I don't think so. But outside of the next volume of World of Thedas, I'm not sure where else they'd lay the seeds for new locations. I guess hints through DLC, but a Novel seems like a good place to start, but I guess it'll be a waiting game. 

 

I guess they'll keep us foaming at the mouth with what we find in World of Thedas Volume 2 for a while, then bam, hit us with more stuff.

A blackish-red film coated every surface of the foyer. Along with the flies. Gerich gave a dry cough, "Maker preserve us."

 

Davion pulled the bottom of his chaperon over his nose, walking further into the room. The double-doors at the top of the stairs were blown open. "Gerich, search the servants' quarters. Lex, the basement. You, the upstairs bedrooms. I want notes, slave sigils, anything that looks like a magical charm or rune..."

 

As they turned to go about their tasks, Davion called their attention one last time, "Take it slow, barriers up. We don't know if the explosions were triggered by an active spell or triggered glyphs. Be on alert for any ambient magic." With that, Davion turned to ascend the stairs, his mind searching for any hum or rippling in the veil. Beyond the main door, the manor split into three hallways. A length of intestine trailed from the passage on the right. The stains along the floor and walls intensified, as did the chorus of insects.

 

They arrived at the crossroad. The hallway on the right was a writhing black mass. Davion squinted, the air so fetid it pierced the cloth over his face and stung his eyes. He gave the agent accompanying him a look, and pointed him toward the hallway straight ahead, likely the main bedroom. The agent gave him a hesitant nod before going about his task.

 

Turning back to the mass, Davion extended a finger, shooting diminutive bolts of lightning along the passage; a tactic to both disperse the flies, and trigger any potential traps. The flies alighted in a fury, becoming a churning cloud that swallowed all the light of the interior. Davion crouched down and covered his face as the insects made for the blown-out window at the end of the hall, or flew over him toward the foyer and the front door. Left behind was a veritable mound of gore, speckled with crawling maggots, rendered a dark purplish-red soup by the passage of time and the torrid summer air. He noticed a door some distance down the hallway, how the flesh and blood surrounding it had stopped short in a neat, circular pattern. Davion walked back around the hallway intersection, into the foyer. He took one great breath of semi-fresh air and returned to the hallway.

Mental note: Need new boots. Need new everything. He inched closer to the door, a sickening squelch erupting from each step. He stopped and closed his eyes, trying to disregard all senses but of the Fade. No active presence, but there were echoes. He opened the door and went inside.

 

It looked like some kind of storage room. Cabinets, coiled rugs, and various pieces of furniture were strewn about. The center, however, was partially cleared out, with two tables and a chair assembled to create a seating area. The tables were scorched black, along with the stacks of papers and tomes that sat upon them. Hasty disposal, ineffective. Davion cracked a smile, in spite of the present conditions. He stepped forward, opening the cover of one of the books. The blackened edges of the paper cracked and fell away, but the writing at the center was legible.

It doesn't make sense for a city that busy to be that clean.

Unless they have a fantastic trash collection and waste disposal system. Or they're using blood magic.

The lower portion of those pastel colored walls should be relatively more mucky than the top.

To be fair, it's clearly a more upper crust part of Val Royeaux that we see, but that just makes it a very interesting place to hold a hanging.
