Well in the roleplay concept we and arti were going over a while back the Order of Illumination or simply "The Cabal" did cook up a method of staving off corruption from red lyrium and at the same time harnessing its abilities and potential.
It's overly expensive though and requires usage of extreme methods.

Making red lyrium safe sounds like a pipe dream, but stranger things have happened. Elowyn's trying to figure out how the taint, lyrium and possession intersect, but she's been a bit distracted from her research. *stupid handsome rogues and magisterial conflicts grumble grumble*
These red tattoos of Red's - could he be a reanimated corpse?
It's a Qunari tattoo ![]()

Red lyrium! You're going to explode in the slave market and infect everyone.

Red lyrium! You're going to explode in the slave market and infect everyone.
Of course he will.
Qunari savages don't possess the necessary skill and ambition to master something like the blight.
Lord Seeker Erdhart though? He does, very much so. Admittedly he does have help in the form of access to 1,000 plus years of magical lore and the notes of a very prominent implementation of it.
But yes; the original sin of man overcome by man.
The Maker smiles upon his cause.

Ceslaus Ehrard was born in 1164 Golden in the Ander Hamlet called by the locals as the Argur of 300 lesser fountains, it was a minor trading post in the central highlands.
It was relatively peaceful life, far from the politics and squabbling of the capital and wardens.
In 1169 it became the location of a minor skirmish between two Ander noble house forces and the Wardens, it was one of the many little battles the outside world had no idea of, the little civil war hidden behind propaganda and royal decree.
The village was devastated during the fighting but the worst came when a warden mage became possessed during the third day of the fighting, the abomination killed all but a few of the survivors before a young boy who hid beneath the burning husk of his childhood home rammed a dull farming implement into it's face.
Afterwards the Chantry relocated survivors, mostly small children to Orlesians and Nevarran Abbies.
Upon arriving in the grand Abbey of Petrine in Orlais the Young Ander was selected by the Mother along with several other survivors for possible Templar training.
However his history in the following years takes a startling darker tone, just a little over a month after his arrival he is taken from the abbey under the request of the Wardens of Orlais he is not seen again for nearly seven months.
His own personal recollection of the time period was not forthcoming so this author is left with dubious assumption at what occured after the Wardens took the boy for questioning.
However the manner of his return is telling.
While once he born the frame of a able and strong child of nearly seven years upon his return in the Custody of none other then Claudus Penetaghast himself the current Lord Seeker a startling change had occurred.
Where once he had been a warm if a understandably private soul, he was inward and detached. His body also had changed significantly. He was ill nourished and racked with constant bouts of brief but extreme pain.
Nothing on his frame explained the strange occurrence. He bore nothing more then a handful of welts and bruises, signs of hard travel.
However he did not remain in the Abbey upon his return he requested to accompany the Seeker, while his request was shocking and out of place it was honored abet reluctantly by the compassionate Lord Seeker.
What follows afterwards is a matter of conjecture on this Author's part.
Presumably the future Lord Seeker was at some point inducted into the secretive order and that paved way to his advancement and future leading of the order in the decades to come.

You know you will have a world defining figure of importance when they slay a abomination at the age of 5.
Or at the very least a bad ass.
