I'd heard such terrible things about DAI that I was actually surprised that it wasn't as bad as I feared. That said, I agree that the Inquisition being the answer to everything is not very exciting, and it was definitely weird playing as a Dalish elf mage and having everyone be so friendly and accepting or simply acting as if none of the bad history had happened. Not to mention the irony of playing an Inquisitor (but I don't need to have that argument again).
As Red mentioned, it's all about expectations. I've never been that interested in combat - it was just something I had to get through on the way to exploring fantasy worlds and stories. I might play the DLC just because the dwarves are bros and I'm nostalgic for DAO's Deep Roads.

I'd heard both good and terrible things about DAI, as for me it wasn't that bad and it wasn't that good either. I'm only disappointed with it. I think I shouldn't hold high expectation in the first place, but don't get me wrong, I do enjoy this game despite my criticism and complaint. I don't mind that our organization become one of the most powerful factions or major player in Thedas in the end. I think you have a good point, if our organization is the answer to every problem, and able to solve all those problems it wouldn't be exciting, and it would ruin the sense of danger posed by your threat, or the sense of urgency posed by the problem that existed in Thedas.
Very true, it's kinda funny how people perspective can switch to the contrast depend on your expectations, whether it's very high, normal or low. I too never been that interested in combat either, but that being said I favor tactical one. However, I think we're on the same mind about how we care about exploring fantasy world, stories and the character most when it's come to Dragon Age or BioWare. I already bought the DLC, but I haven't played it yet. I've plans to run through it sometime in the near future. Aye, the Dwarves, the Dwarven's lore, the Darkspawn and those nostalgic of DAO Deep Roads will call upon us to walk the Deep Roads again.

Myself being more in the DAO boat I found DAI tad disappointing, though I admit I should have not be too optimistic I guess. ![]()
After skipping a number of areas just to follow the main story it became easier though I never really get over the fact how different the mage combat is compared to previous installments.

Writing about Elowyn's DAI-style mage combat vs. Caius' DAO abilities really brought it home to me how much I missed entropy and glyphs. I think I had nine different DAO characters and kept coming back to that game. The story of DA2 grew on me, though I never loved my character that much. And I did enjoy lots of things about DAI - I'm still a Bioware fan for sure, and Thedas has inspired me to write and think and dream about the people and conflicts there. I do like to think about the possibilities for videogames and how the medium could be used for so much more than mere entertainment. Not that there's anything wrong with entertainment - it's just easy to get stuck doing the same things over and over again.

I kinda enjoyed the idea of mate combat. I mean if you we're a non circle image the rescrtion was A grade but if you we're humi should've had access to more tricks
Exactly! A Dalish or Tal-Vashoth mage should have had different spells. And more than 8 at a time, pls.

I think I already tell you this, but a good example of this for me is The Witcher 3: Iorveth. Very important for TW2 plot, right? it's kind impossible cut him off from TW3, they creat a big hole in the plot and just let Roche there, whatever the path, he is not angry with you, lol?

Yeah, that is problematic and sloppy writing. I'm baffled how they decide to cut him off so Roche can stand in the spotlight, and even if Iorveth is to appear in the expansion they'll need to show us a good explanation to fill that hole in the plot. Agree, I think it's kinda silly how Roche's behavior to you stay the same regardless of your path or your decision in TW2, and speaking about that there's not a single word about Anais in TW3. Did I just rescued her for nothing, is she still around somewhere and safe? I don't like it when something is conveniently forgotten because "plot".

Agreed, it would have been a nice touch, and perhaps not even just for mages, but for other classes as well, depending on their background.
Yup but truth be told I never used more that 6 before not counting basic attacks in DAO and DA2 . 8 felt like I had too many
I thought 8 was too little, I constantly had to swap my spells around depending on the encounter. Ideally I wanted to have 11 spell slots.

Perhaps something like the spellbooks in PoE is a better solution if buttons are limited. That way, one can study a wealth of spells and have fun organizing them into books that can be swapped out. I found it really irritating in DAI to fuss with switching out one or two spells from my limited choices, and gaining a new level was less than thrilling, as it meant deciding which spell to toss out. Oh, I gained Firestorm? So what. It's the antithesis of what mages are about - there's a reason we don't just whack things with a greatsword. (which I'm laughing at, since my story character just beheaded a demon with a Fade-shaped greatsword
)

Just so long as we don't get actual spell books. I hate that wizard vibe..

There's been a lot of snogging, interrupted by the occasional Warder non-sequitur. We could definitely use some more sacrifices to keep the blood flowing!

Nah, the chantry-dog is fun to have around, he's always welcome here, he's like a pet.

Of course! I wouldn't be here either if no one had welcomed me. I'm rather fond of non-sequiturs. They lead to interesting conversations.
