I would like to see both sides of the Qun. I'm not convinced it's been portrayed entirely as evil. It's been pointed out that the Qun is attractive to runaway slaves and those seeking the freedom of order through discipline. It would be great if the next game forced us to confront the moral complexities of our choices.

I hope that they handle the topic of slavery with more finesse than they did in DA2 (All mages BAD! All mages pro-slavery! Kill the mages!). For instance, if the player topples the system and frees all the slaves, is everything hunky dory, or will we have to deal with wealth and land and property re-distribution, the resumption of food production, and newly-created refugees?

For the Empire?

I find your lack of FFXII's Empire theme disturbing.

EDIT: wish I knew how to make a video pop up when I put the link in.

What I love most about playing in Tevinter is how its society is the complete opposite of what we've seen in Thedas in previous games: All the nobles are mages, magic is revered and not reviled, non-mages form the bottom of the society, Chantry is run by men rather than women, etc.

I'm really hoping the background for human mage PC is that they're a member of the mage noble family, rather some commoner who was lucky to be born a mage.

I do hope we can play as an elf mage just to mix things up - would you side with the enslaved elves, or with the mage elite?

I may have expressed myself badly. I believe the Qunari had been shown only as antagonists. We have not seen the real Qun, just what count for us, I know it's probably that communist system that everyone speaks. The second game and this new DLC, they are kind of evil for everyone around you, in that sense :P

Before DAI, I thought the Qun would be a counterpoint to Chantry, reflecting the conflict between Muslims and Christians at the time of the Crusades. Of course, it was inspired in a way, but Qun not served as a religious counterpoint, but as a political system, reminded me of the conflicts of the Cold War. But from what they said, the Qun is not an atheist system, so, we will learn more about it and I'm anxious to see it.

I really want to know what are the Kossith and what Koslun was talking about in his book. He says he walked in empires and other stuff, can be just something poetic or even a lie, but from what we have seen so far of the myths, I hope it's real and these eastern lands as well. :P

Its funny. DAO I was Spirit Healer Mage. DA2 I was Spirit Healer Mage. DAI I was Rift Mage..Mage.

I hear we're going to Tevinter and one of the first things I think is "I'm gonna play a Templar."

Haha. Haaaa.

In such a situation, one would do well to ponder what they really are to the mage elite.

Merely a useful tool, akin to a house slave. Divide and conquer.

If you were in that position and had a seemingly comfortable life, would you risk everything to help some people who most likely resent and fear you?

I'm actually not quite sure which group you're talking about.

An elven mage with status would be in an exceptionally precarious position. My comfortable life would only last until the highborns thought it no longer convenient. Might as well make the first move.

Unless that elven mage was friends with our most glorious Archon RobRam and a member in good standing of the Tevinter Imperium Support thread. In that case opposing Heresy is always a Win  B)

Seriously though, I hope Bioware looks up our thread. We shut down Cownari sympathizers, Southern Chantry lovers, whiny Southern-mage sympathizers, dangerous revolutionaries and even Master Warder Z. We deserve recognition for fighting off the multitude hordes of barbarians!

Question does anyone know how humanity gained magic? I suspect that long long ago, after the creation of the Breach and Humans came around some of the elves mingled with the humans creating the very first elf blooded and the first mages. The elves had lost their immortality and their magic was so closely tied to the Fade that they had to reinvigorate the magical potential by breeding with humans. And as stated by Dorian, nearly every human in Thedas came trace their descent to Tevinter, and therefore can trace their descent to the elven human hybrids. The writers did say that magic is a more important aspect than genetics in deciding human-elven  offspring. Any other ideas?

Lol, Perfect! And now it's official. Thank you, Archon RobRam!

I'm just desperately hoping that in the next game, it really is coming. I hope we get the chance to engage in dangerous Tevinter politics, to witness all the intricacies of Minrathous culture, and most of all: to dress our character in some actual Tevinter fashion, dammit.

Haha, aye, cheers for adopting it RobRam!

I'd love to have some Tevinter fashion options in the next game, providing they take more inspiration from concept art in both World of Thedas and the ending slides for Dorian in Trespasser, rather than the sort of fashion the Venatori had in this game. Not that the Venatori all had bad armour, but the weird pointy things on Alexius' hood always look like giant elf ears to me, so I cannot help but be distracted by them every single time he's on screen.

With Bioware's tract record... I fear we'll end up getting Formal Attire 2 Electric Boogaloo.

Bioware does seem to have a weird inability to understand what consitutes fashion, let alone what hats are supposed to look like...

To think they once mocked us, brother and sisters, for supporting the great Tevinter Imperium. Well, now we know where the next DA game is set so our time coming! It may be a few years off still but it is coming! REJOICE and prepare for the great struggle to restore the honor and glory of the empire!

I'm still not a fan of the Imperium as it stands at the moment, but I am a fan of the one that Dorian and Maevaris believe in and are attempting to champion. So count me in as another one who's looking forward to heading there in the next game; Dragon Age: Tevintervention...

My impression is that most of the enslaved elven population will follow Solas, for a chance to restore their past glory and get back at their Tevinter overlords.

Though, I'd love to see an elven mage join Dorian and Maevaris' Lucreni party and be the first elf to rise to a position of actual power in the Imperium. Just imagine an elven magister in the Imperial Senate. Traditionalist would be driven insane by the very idea.

What I would like to see too would be a elven backing up the current system. Someone who had a change to climb the social ladders, ending up high enough to like where s/he is.

Someone like Fenris' sister, Varania? She's both an elven mage and freed slave, apprenticed to a magister and greatly enjoys her new station in life.

That is, unless you decided not to stop Fenris from killing her.

How could I forget Varania? Yes, that is exactly the precarious position I'm imagining. I think it would set up some interesting choices and dilemmas. It's such a shame that many of the most interesting characters (like Feynriel and Varania) are disposable.

Hmmm a Tal-vasoth mage fighting on the side of the Imperium, what a sight that would be.  (random thought ^_^ )

Yeah, Bioware has a bad habit of shooting themselves in the foot by writing interesting characters only to make them killable, preventing them from bringing them back later on... lest they do and cause the people who killed them to endlessly whinge on about it (à la Leliana).

Still, that Feynriel and Varania can be alive and in Tevinter should come up at least in passing in the next game.

I wonder if we could potentially run into some of the city elves that got carted off to Tevinter during DAO?

It is normal, some people think Tevinter will fall like Constantinople, I prefer to believe in an aggressive reform, something with impact. Unless you can be in the Qun side, in that case is another story, but I think the Qun will be portrayed as something evil as ever, so I think we can not have that option, so I think Tevinter will continue as before.

The Imperium just needs its own Justinian and Theodora to come along

What Tevinter needs is a strong hand. Archon should just step up, or someone else. Reforms are second hand solutions, didn´t help Rome. Doesn´t help Tevinter.

The "rome like Tevinter" was already fall in first blight and he was reform with Hessarian and Tevinter win battle with Qunari

After all what we see in DAO-DAI and comics i am sure that Tevinter will not fall because of Qunari or what would not make any sense, by some slaves who actually not a main population of Tevinter but kinda a minority...they are not as dwarven castless

Tevinter and dwarves are tired so they will not let any of them fall and do anything so they can survive both because this is valuable/
