Hear hear! .... though to be honest, I'd trade the entropy tree in a heart beat if it meant the return of Crushing Prison.

Crushing prison was unbelievably badass. Okay, so change that. I really want all the skill trees to return, including spirit and creation as well. It's as a necessary for the characterization of my mage character as it is for gameplay.

I miss Entropy most of all. Remember Mass Paralysis and Death Cloud? Then there was Petrify for shattering in the Earth tree, and various combos with Walking Bomb - explosive goodness!

A rogue may have been my default character in origins, but by the time Morrigan had grown into a blood mage extraordinaire with a maxed out entropic skill tree of sleep casting, nightmare inducing death, I pretty much inhabited her during every fight.

If they don't bring back entropy, I'm going to...revolt or something.

They got rid of a lot of fun spells in Inquisition, crushing prison, all the entropy skills... and fireballs, remember fireballs!

I mean, there's flashfire, I guess... which is a fireball after it's been nerfed so hard it's become a safety match.

I agree. I mean I wasn't that annoyed by the revamp of the magic trees but it really is against the lore. You have codex entries about the four schools of magic in the previous games and then chuck them away for a fire/ice/lightning theme? Why?

Just bring back DA2's skill trees and I'll be happy.

I think that they sort of did have the four (or five) schools of magic represented in a way;

Creation: Renamed Spirit (for some reason)

Spirit and Entropy: Necromancer.

Primal: Fire, Ice, Lightning and Rift Mage.

Arcane: Knight Enchanter.

It's all there, you just have to squint a little bit because most of the fun spells have been taken away, leaving the bare bones version.

Crushing prison needs a comeback shouldve been in spirit tree at least. Death cloud couldve been in necro tree. But blood magic should be a given if anything templar should be the taboo specialization since vint templar are just warriors. Vints have there own arcane warriors so a battlemage specialization should be included. I hope they add some really cool unique ones DA4 is a chance to give mages a revamp in the right direction. I want some good support and crowd control spells back. and glyphs other then fire and ice. paralysis and such should return. and earth elements like earthquake

Yeah, I could see that, but loading them all into the specializations made me feel like my supposed Keeper's First was a lame mage who only knew a few elemental spells. By the time I got to choose a specialization, I already had too many spells for the 8-button limit. I felt like a weird hybrid mage, just casting this and that until I could use Mark of the Rift again.

I'd like to see Blood Mage (with its terrifying power and drawbacks, complete with demon summoning), Battle mage (with actual duel wielding staff and sword) and a Support style mage, who creates magical veils and protective barriers, glyphs, wisps etc

I find Tevinter interesting and would like to see it. While I know that not all mages are free in Tevinter, it would be interesting to see how the Imperial Chantry holds a different standards to the treatment of mages and magic. I am also interested in seeing the nation that once dominated the whole of Thedas for generations before the Blights. See the architecture, or perhaps hear the citizen's version of history and see how it differs from the south's version.

Blood magic needs to make a return.

Any magister (cause you're NOT going to be playing lower ranking slave mages) who is a blood mage should be forced to hide it - and, if it gets revealed - you should take HUGE hits politically.

I don't see why not. As much as I'd like to experience the altus side of things, they really need to move on from Human Noble. I'm not sure they would have us start out as a magister either, especially if they have additional races. The gulf in power, even with just some noob magister, would be too great. Also, not much has really been made of the lesser mages in Tevinter society; we see a bit in relation to Fenris's sister, and Dorian alludes to it, but that's all, really, so this would certainly be their chance.

Then again, if we're some idealistic noob magister bent on changing the world (as young people often are), and Dorian (and Maevaris!) is our mentor, I would just die.
