Not to mention even with only elves there will still be prejudices and oppression. Heck, the last times the elves were alone they enslaved each other.

Yep. They've enslaved each other, fought civil wars against each other, gone Big Brother on each other, etc. They've proven that can be as bad as the other races can just like they can be good like they other races can.

My view about this: they are based on real humans, so...they will do ''humans things''.
They will separate from each other, they will kill each other in the name of gods and other things, you know, history tends to repeat itself.

Same thing with the Chantry they're nothing but a bunch of Westetn religious fanatics and facists, who commited genocide against the elves by their Exalted March on the Dales simply because the elves refuse their beliefs. Religion is nothing but controlling people and maintain religion facism by oppressing and re-educate people into their beliefs against their will.

I agree with you, but I don't see a escape against this, the elves has the same nature. It seems you really like the elves, but look they history, they are evil like the other races.

Most of the time whenever people reiterate points like yours, it seems to be an attempt to justify the historical and current suppression of the elves and to totally absolve the humans, which is very very eyebrow-raising, even if its not the intention.

Reading the last comments, I had to check again that I was in "the Tevinter Imperium support thread" and not "Arlathvhen: A Place to Discuss Your Elven Character". I was honestly confused for a moment.

I'm not sure. Slavery is a special kind of evil in Bioware games (and in fiction in general), and any case of Happiness In Slavery will probably be presented as unhealthy at best. Even Dorian, who never thought much of it, is on the defensive when the point is addressed by the Inquisitor and in party banter. The best I can see is a game set in Tevinter presenting some slave-owning individuals as honestly caring and fair, but incapable of understanding how wrong that system is.

 

Also, I have this theory that the starting point of the game may be slavery itself, since every race and class can become slaves in Tevinter. I seriously doubt we would be seeing the bright side of slavery in such situation (rule of drama!).
