Bah! we need more booze and some reinforcement to battling the Darkspawn. Then we will see about that Dwarven reinforcement for the Imperium proposal.

here's the first shipment of grog.

Spoiler

I trust you send us extra lyrium in good faith before we talk about troop numbers.

My good and loyal servants! More drinks for our friends!

Perhaps some entertainment? How about we see how the Orlesian wyvern does against some of Tevinter's fiercest gladiators?

We should consider removing the darkspawn from more thaigs, there is so much knowledge and resources to gain from the Deep Roads, we can not leave it all to rot.

*snip*

Bout time. Our troop need some booze to relieve them of stress from a constant fighting with darkspawn.

Oh aye, we dwarves always pay the debt and we treat our business partner with grace. Here's the fist shipment of liquid lyrium and lyrium potion as a good gesture that we honor our deal.

Think we should elect an Archon of the Tevinter Imperium Support thread?

As we are either magisters, First Enchanters, or part of the Imperial Chantry here, I'm not sure if we qualify for the position, unless we ignore that rule.

If we keep the rule, I would nominate Cameron Lee as a candidate because he knows he has power and let's those fluffy critters know it!

If we are dropping the rule, then I would nominate Lee and RobRam10 (as the thread creator) as candidates.

*Stomps his staff to the marble floor*

Voting for Magister RobRam10 as Archon.

*takes a sip from the wine goblet*

I love this stuff!

I was thinking either religious or national zeal would be enough, why do we need to resort to making abominations or addled fools of our loyal soldiers?

Really, magic and being a powerful mage is great, but if all we think about is domination (not just of land, but of people and individuals) then we will just end up repeating the mistakes of the old magisters.

Tevinter can be a beacon of hope in Thedas, the kind of place that other nations would envy and try to emulate, but if we just act as individual tyrants, why would anyone envy that kind of government?

Even the old sith empire (at least in SWTOR) has those who commit themselves to the people of the empire and not just their own dominance. Gaining power for one's self is still involved, but channeled to stand on an even stronger foundation. If an empire falls, so does a lot of a noble's power.

Everything is more efficient and stronger when those who you lord over love and respect you. Fear is just a distraction and misery is a poor motivator.

I agree with Magister Daerog. We must show people of Thedas that Tevinter Imperium is their rightful ruler, but to do that with silk gloves. This current turmoil is a huge opportunity to extend our influence among the barbaric nations with acts of mercy. Make no mistake though, I am not advocating policy of appeasement. We must have steel glove ready inside the silk glove if the situation so requires. The Imperium can be merciful while being strong.

Speaking of hidden blades and magic, I'm stuck between Knight Enchanter and Necromancer so far on my first human mage playthrough.

I'm going with Knight Enchanter, something about literally beating people to death with the pure solid magic is so delicious :)

Can't spell romance without Necromancer. Necromancer Trevelyan and Cassandra all the way.

Clever, you probably got it backwards on purpose but I think it is can't spell necromancer without romance. Which does bring up questions with what one is doing with the necromancy. <insert smiley face>

Looking at the designs for Tevinter imperium, always thought it was a vaguely "Roman" empire with magic from the name, the stock images suggest elaborate high medieval/ renaissance but perhaps an analogy would be with a Byzantine/ Eastern Roman Empire with a touch of high germanic Holy Roman Empire. Though its statues and name suggests a kind of Roman/ Greek influence the stock image seems something else. I guess the thousand odd years would have cultural evolution and frankly hoping for a difference from a "fantasy roman empire", not that I don't mind the concept, great for a tabletop rpg, so long as thats what it is meant to be. I suspect any great unifying government based on conquest is going to have a self concept similar to empire and will use grandiose architecture, a particular bureaucracy and introduce standards of measurement and communication. Tevinter Imperium, when you need bad guys who are not Dark Spawn..

Oh yeah. My bad. Anyway. I am so looking forward to making Skyhold my own slice of Tevinter. My very own Barad Dur. It's no big, ominous tower with a fiery eye at the top but it'll do.

I can't support the Tevinter Imperium. But I can support a Tevinter expansion.

Game expansion. Not an expansion of your borders.

Can't say that I support everything in Tevinter (blood magic for evil use, slavery) but I do like the idea of a country run by mages. I really just want to go there and see the country for myself.

Indeed, it will be a dawn of a new era for the barbarians. They will crawl on our feet and embrace our stern love.

Indeed. they won't be allowed to grovel for long however. There is far to much work to be done. Highways must be rebuilt, ruins and cities reclaimed. I think it only fair we put the conquered to work immediately for the glory of the empire.

Well then young lady, please come to see the marvels of the magnificent Minrathous then. A place where time stood still in the hands of mighty Magisters. And if you have the talent then there might be a place for you too here.

I don't think Minrathous is that Magnificent these days. It probably pales in comparison of its past self.

The codexes are written from a southern chantry bias.
