Yeah, they abandoned it because the Fade has no consistent landscape.I hope that the Fade is featured more prominently. Didn't Tevinters have a project to map the Fade?

Yeah, but they considered it a failure cus the map kept changing, so I dunno. Also, the project was pre-blights, I believe, so who knows if its even around anymore? That won't necessarily stop someone from taking it back up, of course. Maybe to try to survey the effects of the Breach on the Fade from the inside?
I'm sure we'll see interesting projects/situations to do with the Fade, though. I mean, circles are basically Hogwarts in Tevinter: celebrated magic schools that flaunt their accomplishments. Between having to deal with Solas' stuff, the Qunari, and enemy mages, I'm sure we'll have a reason to visit a circle. Plus, we all know its not a Dragon Age game if there's no Fade sequence.

They tried, but it failed miserably because the Fade changes so much that a map would be useless.I hope that the Fade is featured more prominently. Didn't Tevinters have a project to map the Fade?

Has Razikale risen up yet or is that one of the last two archdemons left? There's also a shrine-like thing to Razikale in a cave in the Western Approach, right?

^ Not yet. The two left are Razikale, the Dragon of Mystery, and Lusacan, the Dragon of Night.
According to the DAwiki, there is a temple to Razikale in Frostback Basin. I don't remember, personally, as I only played the DLC once on release.

You remember the second area where you find the Professor's assistant, after you save her the first time? That Tevinter ruin was the shrine to Razikale.^ Not yet. The two left are Razikale, the Dragon of Mystery, and Lusacan, the Dragon of Night.

It also has a codex entry that specifically demonstrates Tevinter mages worshipping the Dragon of Mystery as a definitively female entity.

Oh, that's really interesting. Expecially for the Forgotten Ones/Old Gods comparison, since one of the things against it in the past was the fact that the Old Gods are/were supposed to be all males.

What's the cave in the Western Approach then? Its down in a kind of ravine, at the end of a stream/small river. The entrance is on the water's edge. There are wooden scaffolding and ladders nearby and on the opposite side of the ravine to the cave. It had a couple tableaus in it depicting worship of an old god and I could have sworn there was a codex, too.

Fascinating. I didn't remember that, I still thought the Old Gods were all male. Which was strange, given that high dragons are female.
I do expect more clarification regarding the Old Gods in DA4. It seems as if they had been overshadowed by recent elf-related discoveries, but they're still connected to the fall of Arlathan, the rise of Tevinter, blood magic, the Blight and, more important, there are two left. There's also the dragon cults still active in the Imperium that want to go back to the Old Gods religion.
Then add all that dragon lore that is out there. The great dragons Yavana was protecting. Mythal and her dragon form, and dragon guardian. Iron Bull's suspicion that Qunari might have dragon blood in them (compare it with those mysterious Tevinter mosaics that suggest Qunari origins may be more tied to the Thedosian continent than we know). Calenhad's dragon bloodline. The constellations. I want answers!

Its cool. I guess I'll have to load up the western approach and find it again, then. I've tried looking on the wiki, but the map is actually not proving useful to me for pinning it down.

Yeah, no better place than Tevinter to solve the mystery of the Old Gods, indeed I think we'll ultimately have the aid of one of them (or from a Titan) to deal with Solas properly.
Also am I the only one who thinks that Great Dragons= Old Gods? Think about it, there are eight Old Gods, five died on a Blight, three remain, one is a female, other is still dormant and the other unknown, then we have at least one Great Dragon sleeping on the Grove, other killed by Calenhad and the Queen who is already awake.

There's seven Old Gods, not eight. Winged dragons are female only, and six of the seven Old Gods are male.

Which of the old gods is female again?
It's funny that Urthemiel was male.... or so I thought.

Razikale
Female only? Then how do dragons make babies?
There are male dragons too. They just grow up to be Drakes which are smaller and wingless.
