What do you mean by worldly?

I recall that Mary Kirby came up with them. She seems to come up with a lot of religious stuff (Chant of Light, Qun).. she must know a lot about the subject.

Or watches Evangelion :P

hoping the later... Miss that series

Where did the names of the other Magister's Sidereal come from? I noticed this information on the wiki the other day, is there any source confirming those names are canon, or was it revealed in the Magekiller comic that I've yet to read?

More than "names", they are the titles used by the High Priests in the Canticle of Silence, as it appears in World of Thedas 2. It isn't confirmed that they are the same, but since an "Architect" and a "Conductor" are mentioned in that part of the Chant...

So since we almost have a tradition of somehow appointing rulers in each game D:O Fereldan and DA:I Orlais(Divine with you want to count that to) with DA2 being the slight exception unless you pick the Templar route, who else sees us reforming Tevinter and possibly choosing Calperina the former slave turned cult leader turned possible companion to possible Archon or Dorian former outcast turned companion of the Herald turned Magister turned also possible Archon?

Thoretically, Dorian can't be chosen Archon because Magisters are barred from office. As for Calpernia, it could be, but given she was a slave and a member of a cult declared enemy of the state, there will be another question then: why her and not the PC? Especially if the PC is a mage.

Aye, I meant "name" in the sense of what their titles were, since I'd not heard those particular ones before (save for the Architect and Corypheus as the Conductor). Went back to reread that part of World of Thedas 2 and found the relevant passage listing the rest of the High Priests of the Old Gods.

Incidentally, did no-one in Ancient Tevinter look at some of those titles and think, maybe they shouldn't have named their priests after something that wouldn't sound at home among the members of the Legion of Doom?

I don't want to pick the ruler. I'd rather the protagonist simply be an agent of the Inquisitor as a person that can keep a low(er) profile and so on.

True enough :D To be honest, a lot of Old Gods are very sinister themselves (Dragon of Slavery? Seriously?). Bioware wasn't very subtle about which the evil religion was.

If I recall, the Dragon of Slavery also held dominion over Freedom, also being called the Dragon of Freedom.

Apparently Andoral was also known as the Old God of Unity.

"Unity under my bootheel"...

No seriously... I'd be surprised if some didn't have good qualities. What kind of system would that be in if it didn't?

Quite. It's not uncommon for deities to represent multiple attributes.

I don't find Andoral's freedom/slavery thing surprising because they are mirrors of each other.

Another moniker for Andoral is the Dragon of Chains. If you think about it, unity could be seen as an extension of chains. There's the phrase "the ties that bind us". Take it a step further and you could say "the chains that unite us".

So does that make Andoral also the Dragon of Kinky Bondage?

Or if you take the literal interpretation "enslave but I much like that it unites is better

OTOH, unity can be an overrated concept. Maybe it's never positive to begin with. The Inquisition -- if done by the books - represents unity. And it's meaningless. It's just some big umbrella group that has no guiding principle on it's own.

I have thought of that to fall to mean you skin your knew and saying "son of a!"

But what if bw does make tevinter fall and usher a "golden age" (yes it's a pun deal. With. It.) what if all this boring drama is done to even out their lore while world building giving players fair resources to make loosely unbiased opinions for possible future.

Maybe. Not sure if their idea of golden age is good or not.

I suspect if they really wanted some golden age, the architect would be alive and his solution would be some mutant version of Synthesis and everyone transformed into half-darkspawn.

Just a thought. I just figure their idea of Golden would be a little repulsive somehow.

Either that or it's Solas' version of the world and another mutant version of Synthesis. Except with Spirits.

I'd prefer the wolf version better... Less fleshy tumors lol

Jokes aside it was merely hyperbole that failed lol (internet need a joke system). And golden ages are relative it's good for all of x culture where on the other side it's like "that girl is on serious coke" and vints are a proud lot while managable

I suppose I do too.. but then I'm afraid the world afterwards will resemble Kingdoms of Amalur. You'll wake up on a pile of corpses and you'll be A Mage/Warrior/Rogue at once. :P

Well, Tevinter can shiny again.
