The way it seems now, it's full of sophistry and loopy reasoning. It's whatever they want it to be at any given moment.

It's hard to corrupt something that's always shifting underneath your feet.

Well in a way it is corruption.

Check this idea; the qun we know now isnt the "qun". We know they have theologists that analyze and interpet the qun what if what since being on thedas they subconsciously modified their religion to not only convert outsiders but evolve as all religions do.

Bull mentions they have "infighting" but not as we know. Which brings me to my second point, we have little theological debates or discussion a with any qunari that was non military or special forces. So what do we truly "know" on this "alien" religion aside they are inspired or based if you wanna split hairs on Plato republic loosely.

Sure it's random logic sometimes but using these point it's completely viable for them to have these beliefs. Remember elaboration and clarification isn't always retcon but more expanding lore as they improve their storytelling.

* pours coffee out* k that was too heavy for me

That's interesting.. if it goes somewhere.

I don't expect game settings to be that complicated though. I expect some mysteries, but not that. If you have a faction in your setting, just explain what they are, I say. Don't screw around.

where's the foreplay in that that's half the fun lol

Jokes aside yeah it would be interesting but maybe it's the DM in me but I think they already had these things generally planned just never had a way to explain it without some context

Besides explaining everything and permacanoning everything limits writers I prefer vague stories and factions... Often pleasantly surprised

Sigh... I'll concede for now.

I suppose I just want to make informed decisions... ethical ones mostly. Not stuff like this. Give me the info, I'll decide what I like. That sort of thing.

I understand things like.. the creation of world/veil/etc.. can be mysterious or revealed over time though.

same same but how do we define ethical (not trying to be argumentative but curious as a who)

the whole veil thing was a huge wtf moment that even I had to say "no bad bioware bad don't do that"

It takes all the mystcism out for me and we are already getting close to game of thrones level of story telling

What do you mean? GoT hasn't revealed much big stuff. It's mostly factional/mundane drama.. but I like that sort of thing.

I read the books and it was just a chore for me great cast just doesn't hold my interest. Like got to me is like sitting history class taught by a cynic that has seen the outside in twenty years

I don't mind mundane stories but give me something to watch

lol... you're probably close to the truth.

But I don't know.. I guess it's playing more to my preferences. I like fantasy, but when it's on the tip of historical fiction. Conan is probably my favorite ****. Sci-fi it's Dune.

I'd like to see that even the Qun can be corrupted, I don't know, maybe finding out that one of the triumvirate (I'd suggest the Ariqun) is a high weight bastard that is clever enough to deceive them into fulfilling his will, while believing that they are actually following the demands of the Qun.

Their leader in charge of arbitrating fairness and philosophy turning out to be only human qunari and subject to manipulating the system for the consolidation of their own power and benefit. So basically whats ultimately happened to communism in real life, too?

I'd say this sophistry is a type of corruption on its own, so it already happened, really.

Oooh, Dune. Star Wars was influenced by them - though, personally I'm more of a Trekkie than a Stat Wars fan.

Back on topic

I can't wait to see Tevinter - and the Qunari attack (although I hope to the Maker that the Qunari don't win that war).

Well I have my money on a stalemate. Qunari have navel and arguably magic since destruction vs control destruction wins through attrition. Kill enough and who wins?

While vints have the option of diplomacy and potential alliances. But it's all moot til we know who side solas aides indirectly or will he get the MT war treatment

Plot twist: Qunari stole the book of secrets and are making their own Seekers and that's why they dared to make a berserker Saarebas like Saarath.

Qunari loss should be railroaded.

edit: Then again, I expect Solas to be railroaded into a bad direction too. This would only be fair if Qunari are. They're both proposing extremes at each end. There is no "middle way" here. They both suck.

@dro: them stealing the book seems good but id prefer their selective breeding habits yield more "mundane results" like supersoldiers where 3thedosian soldiers equates to 1 of the qunari soldiers. Will make it a much better quagmire.

I think saaratah was a fluke and attribution to their evolution

@kat: isn't railroading just a term for a story not going to ones satisfaction, seems pretty vague on how to ride the elf and oxen

I just think they need to take care of the setting, without plots and factions like these upheaving everything and basically destroying the franchise in the process. You can't a deliver a world with any of them advancing very far.

It's like expecting multiple versions of Mass Effect with all Destroy, Control, and Synthesis endings creating entirely different games-within-the-game. It's unrealistic. And even if Bioware had all the time and money in the world, they would still suck at it anyways. :D

Hehe I see your point but it sells and that means "it works" only is forumites actually deconstruct the series most just say "yeah boobies and dragons"

Like I said Dao was ment to be the 32nd in case it flopped. The lore was still new like a girl at orientation. Its prom now we have been dating and as such we find new things about lore that we only found out now.

Things change and people will fight it til their end. Besides I suspect da ends after the next

I'd hate to think that. It puts me in a position I don't want to be: Someone who actually cares more. I'd like to think everyone was that way.

It's just wasteful, that's all. If you want to destroy it, at least wait 15-20 years. Like Warhammer.

I prefer destroy, but if they were going to continue, I'd only want to see Control. There's a readymade plot and villain right there.

But I like said, I like Dune. Which is what Control would be like. :P

yeah it's terrifying but torch the franchise is common nowadays. Game dev is expensive and ya gotta make profit or we will be bored.

Money is let and to make a good omellet ya gotta use the whole case ... And patatoes... Hot sauce...* goes to make omlette*
