Wait what? lol

I'm confused...

If you're saying comparing Thai culture is off-base, it's not. They borrowed a lot of Indian language and customs. It's one of the Indian influenced countries in E. Asia. And they still use some of these Indian gods in their big operas. That's why I know of them. :)

edit: WAIT... I get it. The Caste system, right? :D

Yes, Aeducan had posted in this very topic something about it. From the first look, someone can see the Indian influence very easy in Thailand from example, like you said, they borrowed a lot.
It is a place I wish to visit some day.

Aeducan is a dude from here in BSN, he is from Thailand :P

lol.. Oh..I know who you're talking about. I thought you meant the in-game Aeducan culture. I was like "Wtf?" But come to think of it, dwarves have some similarities. Like the castes and ancestor worship.

Dragon Age religion is intriguing, through they religion is very more open, in some sort, don't have too many ''rules'' and text, dogmas. Return to the Stone, huh, they seems to accept this very well.

A find the Andraste for example very interesting, a woman prophet? We don't see this every day.

I wonder how the Imperial Chantry views demons and spirits. Considering their more pro magic dogma and culture, would they be more interested in studying denizens of the Fade?

Yes, they already tried and realized it was pointless... because the Fade isn't a "place" it is a "state of mind" which is why it is endless, filled with a numberless amount of spirits and cannot be mapped.

Tevinter , after the Golden City trip fiasco and before Andraste crusade , were still busy doing something with the fade.

In Kirkwall , and Aeonar they were thinning the veil on purpose  .

Whatever plan they had they were cut short by Andraste , and it's still unclear what was going on .

After that well Tevinter converted to the faith of the Maker in a rather violent manner , the Altus were purged .

It's possible back then Tevinter knew way more about the elves and magic than now.

They knew about Eluvians , and it seems they knew about foci.

Although for some strange reason , the Qunari managed to figure out Eluvians and not ancient Tevinter.

I think Ascendant was speaking more in terms of pure demonology and wanting to study spirits, not the actual attempt at mapping the Fade that did indeed fail.

I'd definitely say so. They appear to be more advanced in nearly every possible area of magic. Whether or not you agree on the ethics behind their research and experimentation, I think that it is most definitely fair to say that they are not nearly as constrained in research as mages are in the South.

Branching off that, I would like to see spirits of love introduced, as well as possible perversions of that. Maybe a spirit of obsession?

Also, maybe more clear examples spirits of hope and faith, as well as their forms when corrupted.

Yeah....Tevinter's not going anywhere. It's in pretty much everyone's best interests to keep Tevinter afloat so long as they are the only ones able to keep the Qunari pushed back.

Ok....

Come on would it be nice to finally introduce chaos and destruction of a slave trading nation and free people from them?

All you'd be doing is trading chains. The Qun is hardly a better option.

Actually, there was a codex entry about that very scenario in Inquisition, a poem written by a Magister.

What would you choose? The Qun to have a purpose in life to never be hungry, never to go without anything or slavery @ the Imperium where you suffer greatly @ the hands of slave owners who killed, raped, and sacrifices their slaves by blood magic?

Lol, I remembered that codex two seconds after I wrote the post. But I'd still like to see spirits like that in the game as well.
Also, spirits of Mercy please.

The Qun where individuality, something I greatly value, is not tolerated and deviation is treated as a criminal act. On top of that, let us not forget that any mage is enslaved and bound at the drop of a hat, without exception. Quite a few slaves you wish to free would be bound again under the Qun or renderered mindless by that poisonous substance (saar-qamek?) for deviating from the Qun.

So again, six in one hand, half a dozen in the other...

But think about the slaves perspective if a Qunari freed them from slavery, and give them everything they need to start a new life under the Qun, they would be happy to have a life because they don't have the opportunity to have a life. I just don't agree with their methods how they control mages and giving people poison, I would've done things different. I teach mages how to meditate to better control their powers so they won't be a problem around people and if people don't want to be in the Qun I'll exile them to never come back.

Thy tried to study and catalogue spirits at the same time... it also was a total failure because they kept locating new spirit types.

Even some "demon lords" - whatever the heck they were.

"The Imperium succeeded in finding the disparate and ever-shifting realms of a dozen demon lords, as well as cataloging a few hundred types of spirits, before they were forced to abandon the project." Codex, The Fade

Meh. Even still, I find it to be research worthy of study. If mages are to conquer that which would possess and control them, would it not be in their best interest to study them?

I think the ancient elves and ancient Tevinter tell me what happens if you get too close to this stuff. You just become a monster yourself.

Oh I agree. But from my own personal perspective (outside of game) I find Thedosian spirit lore fascinating.
