Lol that rhyme :P

Anyway I think vengeance spirits are complex entities, which makes them more interesting than their pure counterparts. In fact spirits of Justice are probably the least "friendly" type of spirits.

BTW any speculation on how Tevinter would treat a mage possessed by a spirit?

I'd say it depends on the type of spirit, the character of the man or woman possessed, and their actual identity (are they magister or commoner). 9 times out of 10, I would say that they'd nuke the possessed to be safe, unless exorcism is possible. In regards to Anders though, who I assume you're talking about, I think he's too volatile and far too integrated with Vengeance to merit exorcism. They'd just nuke him and be done with it.

There also might be actual rules set down by the Magister forbidding any sort of possession by mages in the Imperium.

If they are like Wynn and keep quiet I'd assume they are safe pending on status and money

Poet trees aside, I think most Tevinters would view possession as a research opportunity, even an experiment. Demons and spirits are creatures of magic and of the Fade, so a greater understanding can only benefit them. No doubt you have the odd abomination, but I think Tevinters are more open minded for anything magic related.

Quite. I think they would know better than any what the line is for an unsalvageable abomination and whether it should be killed.

As others have mentioned, what also undoubtedly plays a factor is the identity of the possessed, as well as their prestige, level of magical ability, and the amount of money they have.

Well, the codex entry Responsible Blood Magic mentions some Magister Calanthus, who believed he could make himself the “Ascended Man” with blood magic and ended up as a horrible abomination. So they like their experiments. Still, it was a cautionary tale against eager apprentices and even the author mentions "Chantry sermons" that discourage such pursuits.

Maybe it's more like a social taboo akin to pubilc indessence. Do it and nothing "bad" happens slap on the wrist if it goes south then that's a lot of blood

I expect a lot of frankenstein shite in Tevinter.

Like Avernus.

Good points. I was more leaning towards Tevinter watching spirit abominations closely as research. Because obviously while still dangerous, a spirit abomination is a lot safer than a demonic abomination to have around and "study".

Maybe with a lot of effort you could create a possessed mage who is absolutely in control, a winter soldier, or in this case a winter mage. Of course it would take a lot effort and at best 1/10 of possessed mages could reach this state, but would it be worth it?

Something akin to Seekers, except they would be a mage.

We need this 1000x

But them we need to do stats on how are possed either anuually or by the decade. Then explain how did the kirkwall incident not create these "symbiotes"

Disclaimer: regulars Wil know my previous theories on why I call these creatures symbiotes

Yes we do and they are the baises for my theory on how they are created. What i seek is the "ascended man" scenario.

I doubt control is something you can breed like you are seeming to suggest. And even then, it's never a guarantee that you wouldn't corrupt a spirit down the road.

Also, Seekers aren't possessed indefinitely, not like you seem to want the mages to be. The Spirit touches them, breaks the Tranquility, grants their powers, and then it leaves.

I imagine some in Tevinter have tried for the perfect being, and as others have pointed out, it ended terribly for those involved.

I would prefer Machiavelli over Nietzsche but yes something like that. Nietzsche was probably a sociopath

perhaps it is the spirit whom is bound to has a factor. What if to truly work the person must truly and mean truly embody x value, ideal, location, or concept

Take Wynn she was bound to faith and she has faith in a better world or very least the circle or people. And essentially controlled the spirit
