Not a guarantee. It's entirely possible that we may never see such a thing. The Magister did sink that bad boy into the very earth, utterly eradicating it. Plus, when the Veil went up, much of their magical things fell into disarray, so it's possible everything might have been laid to utter waste even before the mages sunk the city.

LET ME DREAM!  :(

Seriously though, I know it was sunk and all but didn't we get an artwork that showed it was a beautiful forest? Solas did say there are still ancient Elves living around Thedas, if that's the case then Arlathan has to be one of those places.

I'm not expecting a town or anything, just a handful of Elves.

That's a bit terrifying... Are gonna break into a depressing song

That depends. Is Minrathous going to look like Val Royeaux? If so, I just might. :P

I wouldn't describe tevinter fashion and style as depressing, looking at what exists in game, it's quite regal, with heavy use of white, green, black and gold.

My comments about Tevinter fashion were based off what is stated to be the case in World of Thedas, although it wouldn't be the first time they had ignored their own lore.   Still those Tevinter we meet in game might feel they could be a bit freer with colour, if nothing else so they could blend in more in the south.    As for Dorian, well he is a law unto himself and no doubt he encourages his friends to be the same, hence Felix's more flamboyant dress.   It's a simple way to rebel against the norm in Tevinter.   It could even be why the leading Venatori are more colourful in their dress; may be Tevinter was less austere in the good old days.

As for the possibility of uncovering something in the Forest of Arlathan, it should be remembered that a lot of old elven ruins we have encountered up to now have been wholly or partially underground.    What if the bit that Tevinter thought they sank was just window dressing or the commoners area?   What if it wasn't the Tevinter magic that sunk it at all but the elven priesthood sealing the area and sinking it to prevent intrusion; just as the high priest of Dirthamen sealed himself and his followers into their temple?   There any number of ways they could allow us to discover something significant in the Forest.    My money is on the location of another orb.    Each god was meant to have one but what if they were in some way encouraged to leave them behind so they couldn't break free from Solas' trap.

Alternatively, we will find the clues to the location of another foci in the Tevinter archives.    Dorian says he has seen pictures there of ancient Tevinter dreamers with them and Solas assured him that if they had them, they had acquired them from the elves.   That may be the thrust of the overriding plot in the next game, prevent Solas from getting his hands on another power source for his plan or finding our own power source to counteract him.

Well, perhaps each god had their own respective orb. If the Evanuris did not hang onto theirs when banished to the void, then theoretically their somnaboria still remain in the buried depths of the city.

Jungles mostly though I honestly don't know the difference between forest and the former aside from heat and humidity.

My Tevinter mage will ride on an elephant decorated in such a fashion that even an ancient rajah would be astounded!

By which I mean, she's going to have an amazing and fancy-looking elephant mount.

Very, very excited.

Assuming all those make it in, ecstatic. I also hope they incorporate some of the suggestions from my mount thread.

I'm already fantasizing about my qunari Mage riding a fancy war elephant.

Not wanting to rain on your parade but there has been no mention of elephants up to now.   May be Thedas doesn't have them or they are much further north in the Dornarks.   There will definitely be dracolisks though.    They are meant to be standard Tevinter army issue, so likely to see a lot of the military riding around on them.   Plus the current Archon Radonis' family apparently have their own special breed that breathes ice or fire.   Imagine having to confront a cavalry of dracolisks headed up by one of them.

Also there are not many large forested areas shown for Tevinter, apart from Arlathan Forest.    May be they cut down most of their trees in the past to make war ships or to clear the land for agriculture.   Also I don't think mainland Tevinter has ever been jungle, that is Seheron.   I've always imagined Tevinter to be temperate rain forest or possible Mediterranean type forest, although I suppose the Minrathous peninsula could be jungle as it is on the same latitude as Seheron.  The daft part is in World of Thedas 1 there is a panorama that is meant to be illustrating a Tevinter Circle and the surrounding countryside looks more like Scandinavia.  Still we had forest that looked more like jungle in the deep south, so who can tell what they will come up with.

^ I don't think it likely that there are many trees in or surrounding Minrathous, aside from the occasional decorative palm tree in the posher residential areas.

B-but the wiki says there are oliphants elephants! The wiki wouldn't lie to me, right? :P

Also, I don't think the jungles are part of the mainland. More like outposts. Colonies?

Why do we have to wait two (or so) years to see Tevinter?! WHY?!  :crying: :crying:

Just think: the devs are brainstorming right now as we speak.

In the meantime, I'll rewatch Rome to get my fix. And obsessively comb over everyone's Tevinter-specific dialogue.

^ They did a lot of custom work on it to get it working in the way they want for DAI, so a lot of that stuff is already built, so they can use the same stuff and possibly improve on it, or add, as the need requires.

My apologies, the Wiki does say that Tevinter has elephants, imported from their colonies (likely Seheron was the nearest but there could be others).    I just don't recall reading that anywhere in World of Thedas so it could be an earlier source that they took it from.    Still I'm sure the Wiki got it from somewhere, so there will be elephants.

I think the source was Dragon Age 2: The Complete Official Guide. In any case, yay! Oliphants!

I just really want to be able to play a female Tevinter mage who meets new people and former companions and get to tell stories about her childhood and current next-door neighbor, Dorian Pavus.

"Oh, Dorian Pavus? I know that guy. Worst sitter ever. I had a cat that I asked him to watch once when I went on a trip to visit relatives, and when I came back, I didn't have a cat, I had an invisible creature running around my house that meowed randomly and scared the Blight out of everyone. Poor thing was killed when someone sat a trunk down on where it happened to be sleeping, and let me tell you that the inside of the cat was definitely not invisible."

"Dorian Pavus? Yeah, I know him. He once set my house on fire when he somehow sent a flaming chicken through his kitchen windows and into my guest bedroom. He thought it was hysterical, until I did the same thing to him when he had a 'gentlemen friend' staying over one night."

"When I was little I was afraid of wasps because the jerk next door, Dorian, told me that they would sew my lips together if I got too close to them. No, I have no idea why he told me that! Whenever I ask him about it he just cackles!"

"I once had a pool of brightly-colored fish in my backyard. I used to love going to the pool on a hot day and swimming around with the fish. Then the idiot neighbor kid next door, Dorian Pavus, tried to find a place to hide his messed up potions, and guess where he chose to pour them out? The result made me afraid to swim ever again."

"Actually, I'm a huge supporter Dorian Pavus. I like his ideals and I think he can actually go somewhere, it's his personality that I'm not a huge fan of. Of course, I'd probably like him better if he didn't hide in my house every time his family comes to visit. Sneaking into someone's house does NOT mean that you can then go into their closet and critique their wardrobe!"

Man, I'm really getting into this idea. The worst part is, I can actually see Dorian doing all of those things. Future headcanon accepted.

I wonder... if the threat of a Qunari invasion becomes real and imminent, would the South rise in force to help Tevinter repel it? I know that Dorian says that it's a "point of pride that we go it alone," but really, Thedas hasn't had to deal with a real full-scale Qunari invasion for 200 years.

I guess I just have this grand cinematic vision from something out of Hollywood of someone in Minrathous (the Archon?) looking out a window to see legions upon legions of soldiers in the distance marching up the Imperial Highway to stop at the bridge to the island of Minrathous. And then of course half of the elite would be skeptical and distrusting because "Why would they want to help us?"

You know, that could be something that the Inquisitor, or former Inquisitor, could do: rally the nations of Thedas to help Tevinter repel a Qunari invasion. It could all happen offscreen, with the Inquisitor appearing later on with the forces.

There's a good chance that if the game does take place in Tevinter and that a Qunari invasion is the main focus of conflict, a big part of the game will be trying to find allies for your cause (either helping Tevinter or the Qunari), and that yes, trying to find allies in the South would be a huge part of that.

Another thought- if you decided to disband the Inquisition in Trespasser, then the Inquisitor has less influence and an alliance with the remaining forces is halved. But if you kept the Inquisition at full force and you ally with them, at a critical moment someone you trust betrays you.

Now THAT would be interesting to see.
