The Magisterium and the Imperial Chantry aren't really at fault here, because they aren't inherently evil institutions, no more than the Circle or the Southern Chantry can be considered such. The real problem is that all these organisations have members who happen to do evil.

We've seen just as many rogue members of the Chantry and Templars, as we have evil Magisters and renegade Mages, so no-one's hands are clean.

The only difference between the South and Tevinter is that the political climate is different, the mages are in charge and that presences of slavery in the Imperium makes it more palatable for evil people to get away with their ill-deeds.

They are at fault because they benefit from the evil system that brings misery upon the people, and they didn't lift a finger to change their ways or to make amends for what evil they have done. So they need to be brought to justice by blood for what they've did, and the thing is this: They don't want to free slaves because they don't want to work and they're too damn lazy to do work and take care of themselves. Instead they want to enslave people to do the work for them, killing them by blood magic, and raping men and women for their pleasure. And no one does nothing to stop it? I say wipe the slate clean and let chaos rise to the Imperium.

That's putting words in my mouth that I never intend to say. I meant destroying the Chantry, Magisterium, and the Upper class because they're the ones enforcing slavery.

We've not seen a lot of incantation magic in Thedas.

 

The Litany of Adralla was apparently written by a Tevinter, although it's unclear what language it's written in. The Warden can apparently read it during the fight with Uldred, but that might be a gameplay aspect rather than confirming it's in the common tongue. Lambert is said to have recited it in TME, but he spent time in Tevinter so he may understand it if it was written in that language.

 

Avernus summoned demons using another language, but it's not clear whether it was meant to be Tevene or something else? That's one of the few times that we've seen blood mages actually invoking to bring forth demons, but Avernus may have used that as a keyphrase to unlock the seals he'd prepared, allowing them to come through?

 

There's a few other rituals we've seen that involve words being spoken, but it's not clear whether they are actually required for the magic to be performed, or not simply ceremonial? The Dalish rite that Merrill performs to restore Flemeth however seems to have the words spoken however?
