Lambert is a fool and a charlatan. If he dares show his face in the Imperium I will personally see him squirming in agony as his entrails are torn from his body and fed to starved Oxmen. Dumat shows mercy, I however do not.

A charlatan perhaps, but in service of what goal?

A former Templar of Tevinter, who once personally served the current Archon, abandons his post under mysterious and disputed circumstances. This former Templar then appears in Southern Thedas, quickly rising to the rank of Lord Seeker, a position that allows him to render void the Nevarran accord, which he does, before disappearing without a trace. Now the "White" Chantry is powerless, and the Order that once enforced its will now ravages the southern lands, their minds and bodies assailed by the tremors of Lyrium withdrawal.

One might question if the Lord Seeker's loyalties ever truly changed... maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. It's a tale that can serve the purposes of the Imperium either way.

My good man!  You're cow has started a barbecue!

When you die, I will mummify your corpse.  I would be honored to entomb you.

Yes you would need mummified servants, what's the matter can't keep your slaves in line?

To glorious Tevinter!  May her affair with the Qunari be everlasting!

If Arlathan was any prior indication it should be a long and fruitful relationship, thank you for your best wishes :)

@Drasanil:  Actually, I stuff them with rare herbs and douse them in exotic oils... I like the smell.  They're Circle mages that fled north from the Templars.  They said they were trying to get to Tevinter.  I'm a sucker for irony.

I approve of abusing Circle Mages. They deserve no less for being a bunch of whinny Anders and Fionas

@Drasanil:

Oh, don't get me started on the whining!

"You can't do this!  We're the same!"  - The same?  Do I look like a completely incompetent whiny idiot who gives up their power and knowledge for a few base freedoms?

"Tevinter is our savior!  Every mage is free in Tevinter."  - This one was particularly stupid.  You and I know the truth on that.

"Why are you doing this?  You're just like the mundanes!"  - That's offensive.  Some of my best friends are mundane!

The last I didn't even bother listening to.  I ensconced his mind in terrors and made him believe he was a lone Genlock being chased down by the Hero of Ferelden.

A most commendable showing! I am almost moved to nominate you as an Honorary Magister. Truly these southern mages are pathetic creatures. Thinking that simply being the 'same' means they are worthy of respect or freedom.

Respect is not something you deserve, it is not something you ask for. Those who are worthy of it will command it by their very presence, their very nature even. Those who would ask for it, who would quest for it shall forever be proven unworthy of obtaining it.

Chill out. They're not all that bad. Not wise to paint them all with the same bunch. Considering how damn close the votes was at the end of Asunder, it was clear that quite a few did not want to go war.

freedom must be earned in tevinter... and those who are born "free" must still earn it in service to tevinter be it. Trade, military, politics , or magical academics

Neither Anders nor Fiona was even bad.

As an aside, I'm pretty sure brute sadism is more or less proof positive of an inferior being.

Yup, no free lunch in Tevinter. You have to fight like hell to keep yourself alive. Most would eat Circle mages for breakfast.

Southern magi...such a different breed. Their fear of their own potential greatness stifles them. They might as well be mundanes for all they do with their powers is cower in towers, cowtowing to the chantry and its heretical whims.

Dumat offers freedom, power, and the right to rule.

*rises from his seat* Well brothers I bid you good evening, may your prognostications be fruitful. I have matters of the Temple to attend and the will of Dumat to obey. * bows slightly and turns to exit*

@Drasanil:  I'm afraid I must depart.  This place stinks of southern Circle mages - and I do fear I might catch a terminal case of victimization.

Nah its not about that. Its more about the fact that the southern mages keep playing the victim card despite the fact they wield more personal power than the vast majority of people and have a better standard of living than once again the vast majority of people. With the education and resources they've had at their disposal for centuries, despite being 'oppressed', you think they could have worked with in the system to better their lot. And yet they seem to be pathologically incapable of doing so.

Again though, some revel in the Circle system and make it work well. Look at Wynne and Vivienne. They seemed to be doing rather well.

Yes, they have greater resources and better standards of living, but it's still a damn cage, no matter what you call it. A gilded cage maybe, but still a cage. They normally do not have the freedom to leave the Tower, which is the trade off for access to those resources.

Something, I should note, that's extremely easy for someone who's a born and bred noble to say.

there is a running gag of that but how often does change occur peacefully. Not often during medievil setting. Besides humans are destructive and its hard-coded in us to fight and do harm to eachother to varying extent. Lastly its people's modern day ethics that paint the circles, magi, and templars in bad lights even if this are rogue/isolated incidents

True, but at the same time, they live in a much more dangerous society. They have to fight like hell to make it through the Tevinter system, a level of competition that is absent in the Southern Circles.

I would say they fear their own power because the false Chantry beats it into them that they must obey the makers will and yada yada...honestly the droning of those old crones makes me want to lite them on fire. And that is on a good day. Remember that the Southern Mages have never had the freedoms of Tevinter and though many are still fearful of the "Makers Wrath" There are those that wish to fight against their oppressors. If this is the case I shall help them, if they plan to cower in a new form I will kill them all.
