I love those outfits. This is why I was saying a few pages back that I was disappointed they stated that fashion in Tevinter was all dark robes, hoods and light armour and whilst they love fabric volume, they do not favour bright colours. At the very least they need vivid designs overlaying the dark fabric, like golden snakes, just as Dorian has on some of his outfits. What I really wanted to see, though, was strong, hot, colours in addition to black, and voluminous, flowing robes in silks and satin for both sexes, at the very least where mages are concerned. At the moment it seems that much of the leading fashion in Thedas is based on European aristocracy. Let's have a bit of middle or far eastern exotica. Why would Tevinter nobles tow the line with the rest of Thedas? They would surely have developed their own unique style. The fabric can still have an in-built magical aura to give nominal protection against hidden blades.
Failing that, Dorian and his Lucerni need to start a new fashion trend; a visible reminder they are challenging the accepted standards in society.

All right that was a bad joke, I know. But I was just curious about magical creatures and animals. I just remembered wasn't there a Ram possessed by a Rage Demon?

I figured that's where the Qunari come in. Look at the colors on the antaam-saar armor: turquoise/blue, red, gold... vitaar comes in vivid yellows and greens in addition to red and black and white. Add to that unusual eye colors like violet and gold, bleach white hair, and metallic skin colors and they're definitely the most bright, colorful faction in the series.
Though FWIW Mae seems to wear lots of blue and Dorian lots of white, so I'm sure it's not all spooky gothic glamour.

They made great strides with flowing clothing in DAI. I'm hoping they can continue that for DA4 as well and we can actually see some lighter garments more befitting the warmer climate.

I want to start off as an elf as a slave determined to fight for his/her freedom, her owner was a sadistic magister who performed unspeakable experiments on the young slaves, and sacrificing them with blood magic while he made his parents watch. My elf is plotting a rebellion against his tyranny with his friends who are working on to get branded by lyrium to overpower and kill Magisters. Aw man imagine the bloody carnage I am going to unleash.......

I'm curious if Tevinter has magic used for more domestic and useful areas. Mage doctors who specialise in healing. Geomancers responsible for maintaining buildings and roads. Thinking that, they remind me of the State Alchemists.
I would like to see if they have some sort of a Healer's Guild, if perhaps it's a government regulated practice or if Healers can go into their own business. I imagine that they don't let just anyone use spirit healing without knowing who is practicing.
I also imagine that they have mages well versed in architecture who create new building and are focused on the physical infrastructure of the state.

I bet you any kind of money they're doing brutal experiments in slaves as unwilling subjects in those universities. Probably on the basement.........Where do Tevinter Mages get their basic education of magic if the Circles are essentially magic universities?

Magic pre-school?
Probably private tutors or their parents, if they have the time and inclination. Calpernia's master taught her the basics when she came into her magic.

Private tutors, home schooling and other academies exist that are around. Dorian flopped around a lot says wot2.

Dorian refers to them as prestigious "academies." I'd imagine that there are all levels of Circles. One like the Minrathous Circle, where Dorian received his Enchanter rank, is likely more of the University type.
Also, yes, as raging-monkey says, WoT mentions that Dorian went to several Circles and was even kicked out of one as a youth. It makes sense. Circles have the facilities for magical training, whereas a young mage's home, with tutors, might be lacking.
My question is where they get their basic education, the fundamentals of reading, writing, and 'rithmetic, before their magic manifests. Also because we know it happens at different ages, how the Circles handle that type of education. In addition, one failing that people seem to have is that they don't realize that the Circles have to provide more than just magical education. The students live there, so there is likely magical as well as the standard non-magical education.
Also, Calpernia doesn't really count, since she was a slave. They're not going to send slaves to Circles.

^ Well, yes, but are there like, Pre-Circles, or do they just get all of that via tutors at home before being sent to a Circle?
One thing I was thinking was that, in a society that values magic so highly, the altus children would get preparatory lessons about the fundamentals of magic, learning about mana, the Fade, demons, the importance of self-control, and so on, so they already have that knowledge before the real training begins once their magic manifests.
