Here's an awesome fanfic about a Tevinter family that made the top 5 of the Bioware Asunder writing contest a few years ago. Since we haven't had a great look at Tevinter yet in-game, this was really good for that.

the South finally launches its first Exalted March in in 7:25 Storm 2 years after the Imperium had liberated itself.

 

The south was fighting Qunari before the Exalted March. Not only were the Qunari fighting in the Free Marches for decades by that point, but counter attacks were needed to liberate Antiva. The codex of the Llomerryn Accord says there was "a century long siege" but the New Exalted Marches lasted only 50 years. The New Exalted Marches were intended to break the stalemate that had been reached after the first counterattack.

 

World of Thedas has the entry of 6:85 on the timeline as "human resistance finally manages to chip away at Qunari lines in Tevinter" not just Tevinter resistance.

 

Also the Qunari still controlled both Seheron and eastern Tevinter before the Exalted Marches. World of Thedas itself also corroborates this in its section on Seheron. "Two years later, the New Exalted Marches were declared by both Tevinter's Imperial Chantry - to retake Seheron and the eastern city of Qarinius - and the Chantry to retake Rivain."

I prefer the Tevinter. Their moral code is anchored in reality. The reason most people might consider the Tevinter "evil" - is because western society today is ruled my slave morality values; a value code anchored in wishful thinking and delusions about the nature of man. This causes the "Evil" stamp on Tevinter, simply due to their society having different cultural values.

In short: The strong should rule the weak. The price for being strong is being independent, wealthy and have freedom. The weak deserve neither, because they dont deserve it. They will either do nothing (apathy) and stay weak (deserved) - or fight to become strong or die.
