Oh yeah that's right its time to appreciate the greatest empire of Thedas and who do we thank for this thread? NextArishok308!

So let's discuss what makes Tevinter the greatest nation shall we?

* The Imperium was the first united civilization of humans.

* The Imperium crushed those weaklings called elves (because they were stupid enough to destroy themselves) and destroyed their pathetic civilization with great fury.

*They made elves their slaves for milennia and to this day it still stands.

*They teamed up with the Bro race the Dwarves!

* The Imperium conquer all of the known world.

*The Imperium created the Blights!

*The Imperium burned that witch Andraste!

*Tevinter called out the bullshit that was the Orlesian Chantry's Dogma and despite getting 4 Exalted Marches against them they won by unleashing that which the White Chantry vilifies... MAGIC!

*The Imperium is the only thing holding those wretched ox-men at bay.

*Also being a mage there is glorious, you can go to the Circle if you want, Templars are just puppets and if you play smart you can be a Magister in the future.

*Being a Magister is the greatest thing a Tevinter can accomplish. You become the Elite of the Elite, your power unrivaled of course which such great power comes the need to defend it from other rivals and ambicious apprentices but that is simply part of the job!

*Don't want to be a Magister? That's fine because you could potentially become the Imperial Archon, the supreme ruler of Tevinter and who all loyal servants of Tevinter kneel to! Archons are chosen from non-magister ranks so if you're lucky enough to become the Archon's apprentice well that would be great for you!

*Feeling a bit religious? Don't worry as a mage you can join the Imperial Chantry the only good chantry in all of Thedas. The barbarians and lesser nations condone our Chantry as heresy but ours is the truest of religions. You can even be the Divine as a mage!

Of course some heretics would say that Tevinter is terrible, cruel and unforgiving in which I say they're right. Tevinter is no summer vacation, it is a place where the strong rule and the weak serve, if you're weak you will get roll on by your betters even if you are a mage, Tevinter doesn't abide for weakness and neither should you dear reader.

Now come embrace Tevinter.

I dont support tevinter overall but i respect its rights a sovereign nation and as a white chantry mage/scholar i seek to learn of tevinter from its citizens rather than abridged books/journals

It'd be interesting if things like technology ever actually advanced in the DAverse. We'd end up having things like LoK's Equalist movement.

I'm not sure that creating the Blights is something you should be proud of. It also coming back to bite your empire in the arse.

I may not like Tevinter (Slavery, blood magic, mages in power, the fact they started the Blights, the Sith-like struggle to stay on top through any means, I could go on.) but it is pretty damn interesting. The fact that it's somewhat based off of Rome (Byzantine, to be specific, I believe) makes it more interesting. 

 

Hopefully Tevinter is the main location of Dragon Age 4. Concept art isn't enough, I want to see Minrathous in-game.

I'm pro mage, pro magocracy and I love Tevinter to the point that It's in my screen name  .  
I'm fascinated by it's history and dark decadent society. I also hope that the Imperium will be featured in DA4.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was when they said that we would not be visiting Tevinter in DA:I.  I've always been fascinated with the place... as sinister as it may be in certain respects, it's still the best place for a mage to live IMO.  I'm looking forward to the day when we get a game set in Tevinter so we don't have to deal with this mage vs. Templar, White Chantry BS anymore... at least 1 game without that crap would be nice... plus, this is the only chance I see of blood magic returning as a player spec.

 

Hopefully it'll happen in DA4.  It could feature a large scale Qunari invasion, or maybe tell the tale of the Tevinters finally retaking Seheron...

To me, Tevinter represents the one place in Thedas (other than within the ranks of the Grey Wardens - and even the first wardens were citizens of the Imperium if I recall correctly) where magical research is not shackled by dogma - the unfettered pursuit of knowledge and power. For some reason, that resonates with me.

I'm glad someone set this up. I was going to do it myself but then I thought about the post I was going to write in defense of the Imperium as well and it made me feel very tired. Anyway I feel Tevinter represents the one place in all of Thedas where magic is given the proper respect it deserves and is a shining example that mage rule isn't going to end the world (except the Blight but that's not their fault).

It is my deepest hope that Dragon Age 4 will focus on Tevinter and more on the Qunari conflict. Depending on what this game does...I would love to see DA4 maybe focus on the Black City more.
