A lot of recent games have included a benchmark mode, and I'm interested to know if the PC version of DA:I will include one as well. It would be handy to see and compare how much impact each graphical setting will have on our FPS.
Will the PC version feature a benchmark mode?

The point of any benchmark....for a benchmark!
It would be nice. I remember in Hitman Absolution you got an achievement for doing the benchmark, heh.

What?
Do we get achievements for starting up a game for the first time next?

Think that would be awesome.
Tomb Raider and Thief also have a benchmark mode. Very handy.

What's a benchmark mode?
Some games and software have a special tool/mode that allows your computer to run a really intensive graphics simulation (probably a scene with loads of NPCs and particle effects + explosions in DAI's case) and then records the framerate during that scene. It displays your average, min, and max FPS at the end.

Mass Effect 2 got close to that. You got an achievement for playing through the prologue, which was pretty much just

It's like the gaming industry's race to the most hilariously obnoxious achievement in a game ever. Is there a grand jackpot going to the one who makes the most stupid achievement ever, sort of like "Rat Race" ?
Or are some developers a bit too enthusiastic about the whole instant gratification for gamers?

I did enjoy FFXIV ARRs benchmark cause it came with a character creator too and you could save your creations
. Hopefully Inquisition releases a similar benchmark, I want to play around with the character creation.

A benchmark would probably help PC sales long term. Might be used for benchmarking sites to test graphics cards and thus more exposure to the game and the visual package. Just a swooping camera through an area with fights in the background.

Crysis 2 had an achievement for starting up the game. I think it was called "Can it run Crysis?"What?

You need more than that, they need to pack as much as they can in certain areas to test the PC power. Sweeping shots will not test your PC that much, need large scaled battles with lots of particle effects.

Did BF4 have a benchmark mode? The only game I know for certain that had a benchmark mode was Batman Arkham City. This is really more of a luxury tool than a necessity. When it comes down to priorities, I'd rather BioWare personally release an ultra texture pack or something to that degree rather than just doing something people can test manually themselves.

I think it should be representative of the experience, thus moving through the landscapes and then circling a fight before moving to the next area.

A nice little surprise HD texture pack like they did for Dragon Age 2 would be awesome.

Tomb raider was a sweeping shot and was a pretty decent benchmark that is widely used for testing
