Skin color. We're either too dark dark, or not dark light enough.

What? At least it's better than DA:O's black man = purple rain.

Facial hair that changes with the face and the presence of playable qunari isn't? Who cares if it's better when we can just complain anyway?

Shaving didn't become common place until Gillette joined WWII. Before that beards were mainstream.

Mustaches, actual beards and very fine stubble look OK or rather good for the most part. Some of the fuller beards look a bit goofy like they're just prop beards, but I can live with that. The big issue I have is the 10 day facial hair. It just doesn't look good in any way. It's too dark, too low detail and just sticks out a lot. It's in quite stark contrast to the otherwise high quality and very detailed skin textures and facial features. It looks like they were attacked in their sleep by a 4 year old with a fine point sharpie.

Having dark hair makes stubbles a pain, though. It's really obvious when I haven't shaved for like.. 24 hours, which is a problem when you work in a field where it's either clean shaved or well-groomed short beard.

They would have given us good beards but the boys over at Duck Dynasty threaten to sue for beard copy rights...lol.

They are ugly though, Bio has never done good hair, hands, or weapons in any of their games.... ;)

I'm sure there are still options for hair color and skin color which will make a huge difference in the finall appearance, not to mention that you will never bee that zoomed in during the majority of the game. I'd imagine in gameplay, even some of the oversized beardss might look more normal.

In dialogue you're pretty zoomed in.

It looks fine. You should compare it to the aesthetic of the game. The facial hair fits with the hair on the side of the head. It's not perfect but it should look alright as long as you don't gaze at it intently with a microscope.

---

Anyway, I think people need to cool it on the graphics department of the game. There's only so much that can be done considering this is not meant to be a graphics simulator but a massive open-world party-based roleplaying game.

No, we don't have to cool it.

How come they can get the shaved head hair on the back of the head looking pristine, but stubble looks like it was drawn on with a felt tip marker? That's just ridiculous. And inconsistent.

Spoiler

That's not hair he's growing. Those are spikes! It must be a special Reaver ability: the face grater!

That's the angle you see the face in conversation. Me1 did a better job on UE3. This is pretty bad assuming it's not a graphics glitch.

Ya. I did notice that both hair and beard (and other such customizations) seem a little light.on options. - I'll wait until I can get in and play with the CC first before forming my final opinion. But who knows, maybe they'll give us some more hair styles and such after release in a patch

I have to admit that I was expecting more options, for I think we saw most of them... but I'm so glad we have the default MHawke beard :D

I really really do not see a marked difference between the shaved portions of the head and the stubble. Are you saying that the stubble is more patchy? That's actually a touch of realism there. Do you really want perfectly arranged facial hair? That's not really possible without proper grooming and I really don't think your inquisitor is a barber by night.

Edited to be nicer.

But it doesn't look fine, if it did I wouldn't be bothered by it, let alone posting about it. The hair looks fine for the most part, so I'm cool with that. The beard and mustaches look fine for the most part, so I'm not complaining about that. Most everything else about the CC looks fantastic. The scars actually look like serious scars, the details of the skin and structural controls look great. But this heavy stubble just does not look good. It looks like it was drawn on with a marker and not at all like facial hair. I doubt they can or will do anything about it now, but maybe if we're lucky they can.
