Minor Spoilers ahead, those of you that haven't finished Dragon Age 2 stop reading now!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone else besides me feel we've got a...Mass Effect 3 situation going on here with the confirmation the Hero of Ferelden, AKA The Warden, AKA The Warden-Commander will not be appearing in Inquisition? Despite the hints at the end of DA 2 that Hawke and The Warden's Disappearences are connected?

From what I've read that particular 'sequel baiting' was not meant to refer to Inquisition or any direct sequel to DA2.  I think it may have been intended for the canceled expansion for DA2.  At least that's the impression I get from reading others posts on this forum.  I can't say for sure.  It could be that the Warden was never meant to figure into Inquisition at any point.

Though personally I do feel that Morrigan playing a part in Inquisition makes the lack of a Warden cameo potentially awkward (I won't know until I've played it myself).  I'm not looking forward to more awkward oblique references to our Waden's in Inquisition.  That sort of thing is never really gratifying for me.  Hopefully we can see the Warden return at a later date and have some real impact in the Dragon Age games (at least the Warden's who didn't sacrifice themselves).

I'm totally fine with the Warden not appearing as a character in the game.

What I would find annoying, is if the Warden's disappearance is never resolved and that is where the character's story ends. That would be a horrible way to end the character's arc and it would render the results of the Dark Ritual mostly pointless. What purpose would there be to having the Warden survive if it was just going to end with "..and then he vanished and was never heard from again?"

The Warden not being a character in the game doesn't necessarily rule out the Warden returning from the vanishing act though. The protagonist might hear about the Warden's return from other characters for example, while never encountering the Warden himself.

Could be a lot of reasons why there is no warden, the hero was a silent one of sorts no VA  for every line and they don't want people to feel wronged if its not a voice they don't want.

But no don't feel its going to be like given think they said yoh can countine playing after the game, which leaves open the possibility of that not happening.

But over all less you romanced three chars the warden not showing will not be odd, plus there a number of reasons they could come up with the warden not showing off somewhere else and so on.

Could go on with somethings, but bottom line is this Dragon Age  is a big picture story of the world, has oppose to the heros and their state(They are just big players on the stage). At-least that has been my feeling.

Conspiracy theory: The warden got turn into the final boss of DAI, and our goal is to kill the warden.

Thankfully the Ultimate Sacrifice ending probably rules that one out.

Also I believe the devs confirmed that the Warden won't be in the game at all.

I'm attempting to reserve my disappointment for when I actually play the game......but it appears that Bioware learned nothing from their complete and utter failure with the handling of the Revan character from KOTOR.  Like a poster above noted, I don't mind so much that he/she isn't included in the game, but the "Warden mysteriously disappeared" crap reeks of extremely lazy writing, which is obviously disappointing since the Warden has played such a large role in our Dragon Age experience thus far.  Not to mention is would seem odd that any of the characters included in this game that were former accomplices of the Warden would accept that he/she "just disappeared".

Again.....I'm attempting to hold off on being disappointed, but I don't like what I'm hearing thus far.

Kinda pointless to do that if the Warden isn't even going to appear...not that it would ever be anything really other than a slap across the face, but...

While I agree that "and they dissappeared. The End." would be bad, we have been told that we will hear about the Warden in DA:I.

Also the Dark Ritual by its very nature need to be almost pointless and non-world affecting. It is not canon and if the storyline is too important you can not build world states for those that did not do it.

The DR is canon if that is what your Warden chose and you carry it over into a sequel.

Thats not what canon mean in this case. The fact the arch demon is dead is canon, the fact riordan died is canon, the chantry going boom is canon. Hard coded choices that the game runs along as the bones of the story going forward.  The DR and the OGB are not canon.

The Dark Ritual and Witch hunt are things that carry over; but let's not also forget that Morrigan and Leiliana are both in Inquisition to some degree and who knows who else being that those two alone were Warden Companions as well as love interests makes it all the more annoying the warden won't appear. HOW can you do that and not expect fans to get annoyed? "Oh your Warden was there but now their gone and their love interest is just wandering around doing whatever with no concern for them whatsoever"...What? Let's not forget you have the option in Origins of becoming King/Queen alongside Alistair or Anora. So in the case of the people who went that route...the King/Queen just VANISHES?! NO it's lazy stupid writing.

I would have been alright with no warden cameos IF the writers hadn't pulled the "disappearance" act on them. I really, really, reaaaallly hope they have something awesome planned for the wardens. I'd be royally pissed if they just end up dead. That wouldn't be nice. No, not at all.

I'm playing this for the Inquisitor. I have my head cannon for my Warden(s), I don't want Bioware screwing with that. Which I imagine is why they may have dropped any plans they may have had when making DA2 to give the Warden a bigger role.

Sure, I miss my Warden (a lot, sometimes), but I feel that if she was brought back I'd just be worried about. her appearance (new CC for her notwithstanding) voice, mannerisms, dialogue - all the things a silent protagonist has that might make the import difficult.

Besides, Hawke's coming back, and frankly I'd prefer to see him in Inquisition as I felt he got less closure - and I absolutely love DAII (to the point that I honestly might like it more than Origins), and hope to see him and Fenris back during Inquisition.

I married Alistair in DA  and became a Queen and n Awakenings I saved Vigil Keep for the Wadens, and still am Queen. I would think a queen and one who is a warden would have a place as companions in Inquisition

I would think that's the last person that should go tramping around with the Inquisition, you're needed in Ferelden, ruling and whatnot. You can't just abandon that, your Warden would definately be in a position to support the Inquisition through resources (men, money, etc)

2 points, but I would prefer Al to stay at home and deal with Ferelden and the kids while I go adventuring.

The fact that they do not have Leliana or Morrigan as relationship potentials leaves a big hint, to me at least...  that the Warden from DA:O is still alive and kicking someplace right now.
