Just to make sure has it been 100% confirmed that we cannot pick a middle ground in the war and that we HAVE to choose a side
There can be no compromise. There can be no peace.

But Orlesian Cheese is filled with despair, that's surely something to avoid for any decent orgy-planner?

Dance battle or a battle of the bands.
Mages have superior special effects but the Templars are more coordinated.
Mages win the war by resorting to dark art of dubstep.

And the true purpose of the Circles is revealed.
Suddenly, putting the Circle in the middle of Lake Calenhad makes a lot more sense.

Not really. People who are despairing need something to distract them from it.

Wasn't the chese made of sorrow? I seem to remember that it was "zee 'am" that tasted of despair.
But on a serious note regarding the general topic at hand, I really really really really hope that the war is not resolved in Inquisition. It's a massive conflict spanning most of Thedas built on distrust, hatred and fear that's been fermenting for centuries. This is something that should be ripping the Andrastean nations apart for decades to come. This should be the DA equivalent of the Thirty Years War. To have the Inquisitor turn up and solve it would be both laughably unbelievable and a huge waste of storytelling potential.By all means, pick a side and resolve some specific battles in order to gain the resouces the Inquisition needs to save the world, but leave the wider conflict unresolved.

Of course, you'd be required to live by the laws and codes of conduct set forth by the Circle, but the Mages are given more say in the enforcement of those laws. Basically, the legal system would have both the Mages and Templars holding equal powers and keeping each other in check, allowing the enforcement the rules as the Circle sees fit, without one side dominating the other as it does at the moment.
That's how the Circle worked before.
That way, the Mages would be able to put a legal defence to combat unfair accusations of things like Blood Magic, without the Templars simply branding you as Maleficar and putting you through Tranquility with zero-to-no proof, preventing such abuses of power like we saw in Kirkwall. This would also prevent people like Ser Alrik making people Tranquil simply to create a harem of neutered mages to serve as his playthings.
And it never worked like this. I really wish people would stop using Kirkwall in their arguments about how the Circle system doesn't work and is corrupt. Especially when their are 3 templars in total that actually exemplify that corruption. These things in this quote weren't even legal in Kirkwall.

True, but things like Loghain leaving half the army at Ostagar to get slaughtered by Darkspawn, the resultant Ferelden Civil War and Howe's attack on Castle Cousland all left huge death tolls in their wake and had absolutely nothing to do with mages.
The Ferelden Civil War probably caused more death and destruction in a month than a half dozen rogue apostates working together on Project Mayhem could manage in a year.
Loghain story was only 1 problem another were dwarves rest of problems were caused by mages like zathrian , circle , redcliffe and blight not mention what loghain did was pretty much sane thing to do as king was an idiot and they would lose.Besides civil war wasn't to destroy feredelen like disasters by mages they were fight of armies so loghain could get to power pretty harmless for human kind.
