I've remade the locked elven support thread and added some more stipulations about required conduct in the OP. This should give us sufficient leverage to actually get trollish comments removed, as I think I covered all the bases in what the topic was about. Cross your fingers.
Prepare your reporting fingers...

You do realize that anybody and everybody can read the threads in this forum, right? For the record, I'm not taking part in this... it might be better to just make use of the ignore feature than to antagonize anyone.

Why remake one like mine? because of the trolls it was a huge mess ![]()

I am curious if the thread will just end up being overrun again. It seems like that's always the pattern.

Then we'd best get to Gamer and get him/her/otherwise to make this group private. Thanks for the warning.

As I said in a different thread, I will not run. I will not be pushed off our forum in our own damn threads.

The problem is that they can troll without actually breaking rules.

Actually, I think that's a great idea... but also make sure you all follow the site rules regardless, since the mods do read these group forum threads, private or not... a few of us know this from first hand experience! xD

I don't like having to run either. But there are a LOT of Elven haters on these forums,so I think it's best we stick to this group for our Elven needs.

The problem is that they can troll without actually breaking rules.
Hence the legalese in my OP; while they might not get warning points for it, I can have legitimate grounds for reporting things that are, as I've stated in my OP, harmfully off-topic, and hopefully get said posts deleted.

Standing down to bullies simply lets them win, and I have no interest in doing so.

I understand your point on this.I just don't have it in me to fight them anymore.I've had my share of encounters with trolls on several forums, for years.I just don't have the fight in me anymore. So I'll leave it to you.

Do they see the "private messages" or whatever, too?
Not paranoid, I haven't started any forum coups via them...yet...just not clear on all that.

Standing up to them can also backfire too (I know from personal experience irl). The problem is, standing up to bullies and, by extension, trolls is difficult because you can be considered to be in the wrong just as much- if not more than- the bullies/trolls (again, I know from personal experience). It's especially difficult with the trolls here, considering how they can effectively troll without really breaking the rules.
The best way to get bullies and trolls to leave you alone is to ignore them, but once they've gotten their hooks into you, you almost have to stand up to them to get them to back off.

Spoiler
My strategy, thus, is to ignore any trolling that does happen and just report it without starting fights. The important thing to me is not letting them stop us having our own threads.

PS: (1) – I’m not being a xenophobe here, I’m brazillian myself.. used to be a moderator in our equivalent to IGN/Gamespot boards, so I’ve seen first hand how toxic things can get.

That's been their pattern. For those who are members of Dalish Supporters group and read Samahl's warning a few months back, we know from the "forum issues" thread at Cheesecake's group (the one that was locked by BioWareMod02 and made invisible when they discovered we were aware of it) that they organize to attack certain elven threads, and Steelcan mentioned that he was working with Cheesecake to attack the Dalish Supporters because we are a pro-elven group.
I also understand Xil's frustration, given that they were also engaging in homophobic and transphobic rhetoric in the "forum issues" thread, but the moderators have made it clear they don't really get involved (unless there is any mention made about the bigotry that happened in Cheesecake's group). Otherwise, they do nothing until it's long overdue, and then simply lock the thread.

That's been their pattern. For those who are members of Dalish Supporters group and read Samahl's warning a few months back, we know from the "forum issues" thread at [X]'s group (the one that was locked by [X] and made invisible when they discovered we were aware of it) that they organize to attack certain elven threads, and [X] mentioned that he was working with [X] to attack the Dalish Supporters because we are a pro-elven group.
Which is something that I just don't understand. We're minding our own business talking about aspects of the game that we love, yet they come into our threads to harass us while telling us we're the intolerant ones? I'm sorry, but how many times have human/noble discussion threads been so overrun with trolling and derailing that they got locked time and time again? How many times have human/noble fans been so overrun with trolling, baiting and derailing that they were forced to retreat into locked groups because antagonistic elf fans wouldn't leave them alone?
For all of some particular individual's talk about how Dalish are race supremacists that just want to wipe out or push down humans and city elves to forge their Aryan Dalish Third Reich and we are condoning that supposed ambition by liking the Dalish and/or elves, they themselves are showing remarkable intolerance by refusing to leave our elf discussion threads alone despite how we leave their threads alone.
Thedas elves have shown time and time again in Thedas history that most of them don't want to suppress or drive out humans. They just want to be left alone; go to a place where they can be elven without humans telling them what to do or how to live. Most would settle on one elven kingdom even though the whole continent used to be theirs and humans now control it. Most elves want one country to self-govern in the entire human-governed continent, yet elves are the ones being greedy and intolerant?
Likewise, most fans in forums successfully discuss countless aspects of Thedas (especially the human noble PC praise), yet elf fans are asking too much by wanting to discuss elves in our own designated threads? They won't let us have that, yet we're the intolerant ones?
In the words of Merrill: "I just don't understand it."
I also understand Xil's frustration, given that they were also engaging in homophobic and transphobic rhetoric in the "forum issues" thread, but the moderators have made it clear they don't really get involved (unless there is any mention made about the bigotry that happened in Cheesecake's group). Whereas if it's, say, a romance thread, they warn people to get back on topic after three wayward posts, delete whole conversations if they're off-topic, and shut it down after the second warning. With us? Nooooo. Let 'em get off topic for countless pages at a time then just lock the thread after it's passed the point of saving.

i understand the backlog of complaints but they were organized and had(still) make rude remarks. If the romance threads it crazy lockdown. That's been their pattern. A elf thread thats civil but devolves into morally evil discussions on how/why to do harm to a fictional race that escalates to attacks on fans. It goes on for days weeks even.
I believe the forums are a space to share opinions but must be done safe and constructive enviroment, not a borderline hostile eviroment were x fans are forced to hide in the "woods" of the bsn.
End rant

Everyone, I hate to be the one to do this, but please keep in mind the site rules, specifically:
Naming/Accusing: Openly accusing another player or group of misbehavior is not permitted. You may discuss the type of behavior at issue, but specifically naming individuals or groups is not appropriate. In cases of exploiting, harassment, or other violations of conduct, please use the report tool instead of engaging with the user.
Some of you are already aware of the fact that the actual Bioware mods do read the posts in group forums, and I was present in one that was shut down because of similar ranting and naming of names. Things like this should really be kept to PMs to be on the safe side...
Obviously I can't really stop you from talking about what you want, but if you continue along these lines and a mod comes in here and shuts this down or hands out warnings, you will at least know why it happened.

Yes Icy is right while were are here by choice. We should respect the forum laws even if others dont we must be the better men/women and not bash others behind there back. While im also at fault i wpuld hate for group to be closed and warnings given out.
So lets keep our heads and the positive vibe here
