How much do you think a non-elven inquisitor would be able to help the Dalish/City Elves? Do you think they may even be able to follow the creators? Do you think there will be any difference between how elves react to humans, dwarves or qunari?

Are any of you planning to play a non-elven race in your first playthrough?

Follow the Creators?  Probably not... I'm not even certain that the Dalish Skyhold items are available to non-Dalish (I could be wrong about that though).  I am predicting minimal variation between the human and non-human storylines, with the most major changes being the War Table mission(s) specifically tailored to our backgrounds.  We might have a few interactions whose outcomes are influenced by race, but they will probably be rare... overall I don't expect much of a change beyond cosmetics and the racial bonus.

As for the last question, not me.  Dalish elf is my first char, but human is my second...

I like to think that any character I make, will support the Elves in some aspect :D

Long ago,I promised myself that an Elf would be my first playthrough (this was after races were confirmed)

But a playthrough with a Dwarf, Human and Qunari will follow after.

I'd think it's similar to DA:O, in that only Dalish characters could mention the Creators and other Dalish-specific topics.  I'd imagine that each race has certain bits of dialogue restricted to them and them alone, just like in DA:O.  Also, I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned that NPCs will respond to your race, class, and spec with specific dialogue.

I'm definitely going Dalish for my first playthrough, but my second will be m!Qunari.

I'm playing Cadash my first PT!

I'm definitely going to be pro-elven in any way I can. My Cadash is going to be a bit of a romantic when it comes to the elves.... so a bit naive and possibly offensive, but with the best of intentions. I'm building the "Cadash's ancestral home was destroyed for helping elves" into her backstory. She's not happy with how her family has (in her eyes) "fallen" from people who were once so noble to criminals.

I was thinking that elves may respond better to a dwarven inquisitor than a human or qunari one. Humans of course have had a bad history with elves, and some elves take offense when their kin run off to serve the Qun. There doesn't seem to be any bad blood between elves and dwarves (despite oghren and zevran, which may have just been an homage to other works :P ), and in the Witch Hunt DLC, it's revealed that the dwarves helped the elves way back.

I think they will too...although it's possible that some elves could resent them for being the suppliers for the Chantry/Tevinter. And Cadash Thaig did help the elves...but was then promptly destroyed by Kal-Sharok to protect their lyrium deals with Tevinter. Since Cadash is now part of the lyrium smuggling trade...I can see some tension there...  We'll see! I am very curious to see how detailed the variance in interactivity is for the different races. I hope it's substantial :)

- Probably the same amount as Elf characters.

- No.

- Yes. Humans probably get a frostier reception than the other two. I expect dwarves to get the warmest from elves simply for being kind of neutral.

- Yeah, I'm thinking of making a human for my first Inquisitor. Although I probably will try to play my Dalish mage parallel to him for a while. Similar to Origins actually. My main Warden was a human noble, but I made a point of playing most of the Brecellian Forest with my Dalish Warden first.

My first playthrough will be a Qunari, and I actually think there are a lot of convincing reasons why a Vashoth would sympathize with the elves. Probably the most out of any character except an actual elf.

So I imagine she'll at least try to help them, if possible.

Actually, my first run will be on a male Qunari Warrior: Keitan Adaar. His parents(a Sten and a Ben Hassrath female agent) were forced to flee the Qun when his mother was pregnant with him, as they knew they would be separated from their child and were to be reeducated for their fraternization. The family live constantly on the run and were often ostracized by humans, much like the Dalish in some ways, so he sympathizes a good deal with them and elves in general. In fact one of his favorite past times in late teenage years was to take advantage of his 6 ft 5 inch height to intimidate humans from bullying elves, both for sh*ts and giggles and because he thought there was a need for someone to look for the little guys(pun intended).

My second run will be my Dalish Elven Mage lady, which I described in the other thread here. Was originally going to be my first, but when they revealed the Qunari were playable I was like ZOMFG QUNARI, ME WANNA PLAY A HORNED DUDE AND EAT COOKIES…

Elf is also my first playthrough, I was unaware we could decorate Skyhold with a Dalish theme. Ma serannus. I will now have some extra to look forward to, and I already know why my Elf would decorate it as so, considering she is going to be away from her clan for sometime.

The option might be available to a non-elven protagonist to help elves, but I think there will be some race specific quests depending on our Inquisitor's race. I doubt any non-Dalish main character will be able to abandon their own beliefs and follow the Creators, however; the series tends to be a bit Andrastian-centric, and I simply don't see that being an option.

Most likely, there will be different reactions from various groups depending on our race and class; I could see mages trying to appeal to an elven mage Inquisitor due to their shared magical talent, or elves being wary of a human noble Inquisitor due to their past experiences with humans.

My first run will be as a Dalish mage, although Dwarven and Vashoth also interest me.

I'm a human player, for my first run anyway, and my player characters have always had sympathies for the elves.

I cannot for the life of me play one of the more extremist characters some people do, imo.
