In general the recent livestream was very good, but when Mike said this I arched my eyebrow.
We KNOW the reason they have a different head slot is due to the fact that managing headgear with horns is very tricky. Why try to pass off an issue they ran into as doing something extra for their fans?
It just felt a bit disingenuous to me. Like trying to twist a limitation into a Fantastic Fresh Feature For our Fabulous Fanbase™!

Well it was probably both.

I mean they could have just said 'Qunari wear helmets but they never show up'. Instead they gave us customisable war paint with some interesting lore behind it.
I consider qunari a great extra that nobody was expecting (I was expecting human only just like DA2 and Mass Effect). So I'm happy they are there at all. Even happier because they look badass. I don't have a problem with the current headgear or hair. Of course it would be nice to have extra options. That's what it is, a nice to have feature that would add further to an already great addition.
I can't look at this fantastic CC they showcased and complain about a "lack of options". Please.

The existence of positives doesn't mean negatives don't also exist, nor does it mean that I should be afraid to express my view about them.
I consider qunari a great extra that nobody was not expecting (I was expecting human only just like DA2 and Mass Effect). So I'm happy they are there at all. Even more happy because they look badass. I don't have a problem with the current headgear or hair. Of course it would be nice to have extra hair options. I genuinely felt that that specific comment was a pretty shameless way of tweaking the truth, which I don't appreciate.
If it helps, I loved absolutely everything else in the livestream, the game looks incredible. The devs have done a wonderful job, and are normally absolutely on point with what they say about the game. I just didn't feel that in this instance.

I'm not saying 'ohhhh why aren't the graphics like this' or 'awwwwwwwwwwww i wanted to romance vivi ;-;' or 'straight males deserve more love interests'. I'm not complaining about anything in-game at all, the replacement for the headgear sounds fascinating.

You're seeing PR-double speak where I don't really think there is any. Yes the Qunari can't wear helmets because horns but the paint is something new added specifically for them instead of just leaving the slot blank. Maybe a better choice of words could've been used but I'm not reading the same intention in the comment that you ascribed to it.

Anyway, companies often spin negatives into positives. It's a pretty common practice, that yes, should go away. At the end of the day though the Qunari paint is a good idea and a good replacement for helms.
