I don't think they'd be natural allies. The Mage Rebellion is about freeing mages from the templars. Not about fighting Orlais for control of the Dales. I doubt very much that'd be something most mages would be up for. And the Circle mages are mostly human without any particular kinship for the Dalish, I don't think the Dalish would by and large be especially eager to put themselves increasingly harms way fighting templars on behalf of the mages' cause.

But the Mages can be a potenial ally for the Elves don't you guys think?
I don't really see it... mages and Dalish elves don't have that much in common. Even if the Dalish allow their mages to roam free after they retake the Dales, that doesn't mean that they would allow human mages to live there. If that is the case, why would the majority of the rebel mages want to help them achieve this? As Jedi Master of Orion said, the Orlesian/Dalish and Mage/Templar conflicts are separate wars fought for unrelated reasons...
I predict that seeing a large number of hostile mages join the ranks of the Dalish would only cause the Orlesians to stop fighting one another and the Templars to return to the Chantry now that they are facing new enemies. IMO all this would do is reunite the Orlesian Chantry's power structure...
It seems probable that Gaspard and Celene would temporarily put their differences aside in order to put down the elves, which both of them dislike to some extent... adding mages to the mix would likely guarantee this outcome.

I actually do agree. In the case of human mages, it can easily be a case of enemy of my enemy. The Templars do not play well with the Dalish.

I agree With you Who Knows, Merill said in DA2 that one of the reasons the Dalish travel the world is becouse the Templars hunt them.

Hunting Dalish is low on the priorities of Templars. Most of the time they leave them alone if the clan leaves the area. And they aren't the only reason the Dalish leave. Sometimes secular human rabble will drive them off. The Templars primary concern to stopping the Circle Mage Rebellion. Just having a sort of common enemy with the Mage Rebellion doesn't mean they'd be natural allies. Mages don't have the same goals as elves and if templars are content to focus on the rebel mages, the Dalish would be probably content to stay out of their way because that's what they've always preferred to do.

The Circle mages can become a militant arm of the Inquisition, so the mages can be an asset for the elves if the Inquisitor allies with an elven rebellion and allocates his mage forces to dislodge the Orlesians from control of the annexed elven kingdom.

I am sure that one day the Elves will have a nation, all the races have nations, Qunari, Dwarves, Humans, and even some class when you think about it, Mages, Tevinter Imperium, I dont know how willl it work although, I am sure that both City elves and Dalish will be in the same land, it'll be weird to have a Dalish land and City Elf Land, eventually, weather or not, there are a lot of elves in the circle btw, it have been stated severeal times that the Elves have more connection to magic than humans, so far I think that the elves fill the important seats, such as first enchanters and so on at least from what we have seen and read, Orsino, and that Elven lover of Marric, who is in the highest position, what I mean is that the elves in the circle have the power to help the elves that rebel, its only my thought though.
