Can u kill a phantom without taking down its barrier? (direct health hits)

Yes, you can (watch at 2:45) :

AP4, high caliber and smartchoke on the Wraith. I got a headshot, and her barrier was already half-removed, so I'm not sure whether it helps.

That looked like it took her barrier down just before health to me... so it wasn't a direct health hit?

That's how it looked like, yes. I'm not 100% sure however.

no bubbe there

But we see a directhealth hit before... And the bia**ch is half killed before the nade come's in. Then she recover 90 % barrier and health !

Nice sequence to see the BS DR and all the stuff mentionned here. First direct HS hit does one barrier bar damage !

Does the on-host BS applies only when bubbled? My impression is that it works always.

Whenever she is moving in the slightest way or when she bubbles. In practice, at any time except when she's in cover and a split second moment when she completes flipping animations. Or when she's staggered, of course.

She isn't always in evade when moving.  It depends on if someone has fired at her, more or less.

A good character to see the difference is Turian Sentinel with something like the Hurricane or Suppressor.  If she is moving towards you, use Overload first and you strip most or all her barriers (depending on your spec), then fire and you will eventually get DR until she hides.

If you instead fire a burst at her then use Overload, you will probably see that your Overload does pitiful damage since firing a burst at her makes her do an evade check and activate DR.  She might even flip around at the burst, which makes it obvious that she is into DR.

Also SP Phantoms work essentially the same way as on-host MP Phantoms, except they never got any HP buffs.  They have 100% shieldgate on Insanity though.

This was a Javelin test on soldier I did a while back when people were discussing if there were ways to one-shot protected units on Insanity after the patch, other than maxed out Infiltrator.

The Phantom at 1m36 bubbles after power block, then you can see that her health drops but her barriers remain basically the same.

Well, where were U guys last night ?

Just tell us how many rage rockets you used last night, and we'll take the equivalent number of shots of tequila.

We'll trust you on the number of rockets. I mean, why would you lie to us?   :P

that wld be 5 at least

I played from 7PM till sometime after midnight.I saw marksmad come online just as I logged out.

Needless to say, many phantoms were killed and plenty of tequila was ingested along with about 7 beers.I'd be willing to do this again. It was fun.

I think this covers it ;)
