It sounds like importing savegames may not make it into the Keep system before launch. Is there any chance that we could get a list of fields for relevant choices in the PC save files? Or maybe someone from the community can figure this out? I'd be fine just opening my old saves in a savegame editor or throwing together an app that dumps the relevant choices and inputting them manually into the Keep. I know this gets into a weird situation regarding what might be considered "supported" by BioWare, so I'm hoping that someone from the community has maybe already figured this out as much as for any sort of official list.
Dumping DA:O / DA2 choices via a savegame editor?

You'll have to wait until the Keep is released-- which they have said should be a month before game release. However, your choices don't actually import-- you have to manually choose everything in the Keep.

Save files do not, and never will, be imported directly into the Keep.
The whole point of the Keep is for you to build your world states from DAO and DA2 to use in DAI.
They will NOT allow you to import a physical save file from the previous games since these are riddled with buggy plot flags.
Use the Keep when it gets released to rebuild your world states flawlessly. Delete your old save files and forget about them.
If you feel the need to interrogate your saves for plot points, it would imply you can't remember your choices in which case they really don't matter anyway.
Again, using the Keep will refresh your memory and let you choose hundreds of choices.

I'm doing this partially as an academic exercise, but also because I know that while I don't remember all the decisions I made, if something happens in the game that doesn't match what I did I'm almost sure to remember at that point. Maybe the keep will be enough all on its own, but... well... There's time before launch and I'm bored so i figured I'd look into this anyway.

The keep will probably be enough. I dont think anyone knows what the codes correspond to, plus the game is a bit in-accurate at recording choices

Fair enough. I just found out that Gibbed has a public SVN for his stuff anyway, so I'm going to see what's available there. It's a substantial amount of code, so I may have been presumptive in thinking that a list of codes was feasible anyway.

Wouldn't it easier just to fire up your DA:O/DA2 save and check your codex or quest history to see what choices you made?
This page mentions which choices mattered in DA:O import however because of the Keep we'll never know which choices would have carried over to DA:I from DA2 if the old system was in place.

To be blunt, it is best to wait for the Keep since it's does a good job refreshing your mind of choices.

its my understanding that aside from character models savegames won't strictly speaking be needed.

Save imports will be unneeded. What you are importing into the Keep is a character reference if you like, a name and avatar so you know which warden/Hawke you are using. You use those heroes as the protaganists to create a world state, which involves a plethora of choices that you will have to make: They will not be impoted, as this helps to avoid all those bugs that DAO and DA2 has with its imports. So if you can't remember a choice you did, it may be worth replaying through the game or doing research on the choice to help you refresh your memory.
Once you are happy with the world state you have created and made all your choices, you can save your state and export it to DAI. When you play the game it will ask you to select a world state. You'll then find the one you want and, optionally make sure its all the choices you want. If everything is ok, select the world state and viola! 'Save import' complete.
If you arent happy with the world state, quit back to the main menu on the game. Load up the keep, make your edits on the world state you want to use (or select a new world state), re-export to DAI, go to new game from DAI's menu and it should be updated. Simple as that.
I dunno if thats what you were referencing, but thought i'd post it anyway to hopefully end some confusion that some people may have.

Yes, I was mostly hoping to bypass the "replay parts of the game or do research" part regarding past decisions. As for the hero upload to social.bioware.com, I've been trying for days to make that work, but still no luck. I'm logged in and have tried changing equipment and saving to a new save file but I still have no characters in the cloud. Still working on sorting that out.

What is the difference between...
1. Choices made in DAO/DA2 transferring over to DAI via "importing."
and
2. Choices made in DAO/DA2 transferring over via the Keep.
DAI recognizes the same choices either way, and using the Keep protects against bugs.

Well, if I were to "import" at all it would be from save files into the Keep. But the import I was talking about was my Warden from DA:O, which currently isn't uploading to social.bioware.com for some unknown reason. I think the idea to have some cloud-based system managing historic game information is a really excellent one. I'm just looking for an easy way to ensure that all my past choices are preserved, given that my recall for what happened in those games is poor without relevant context. With luck, the expository info for choices in the Keep will be enough to remember, but I'm a programmer by trade and so I'm naturally inclined to try and automate things.
