I mean except being bald or shaved head, which anyone could have ? After two CC videos I'm wondering if it will ever happen. 

 

I haven't seen any single black hairstyle. I really appreciate the fact that Bioware improved a lot the skin tone and black features, ( thank you for that ) I never played a black male character in previous games before because I didn't feel they were realistic or I didn't feel I could do something good ( except female characters ) with them compared to the default white PC who got overall all the features for him, that were better stuff and fit him more than for black PC. ( In Mass effect, it was even worse to create an asian  )

 

Dragon age inquisition will be my first game where I finally feel I'm playing what I always wanted to play but never could. ( I'm not complaining, It didn't bother me to play a white hero. It just feels good to be able to play something close to who you are, without feeling the feature isn't really good. ) I'd like the experience to be the best possible. Yes, I'm greedy ! I hope Bioware didn't forget to add some black hairstyles too, just to avoid something like :

I'd feel it is really weird on my black inquisitor. We didnt even see black female inquisitor to be honest,, so I wonder if she'll have the same hair as white  inquisitor that they already showed. ( I think I have seen a female dwarf with a darker tone though ) 

 

Having at least one hairstyle like this would be really awesome :

I doubt that we are in luck... There is Vivienne, and they did an amazing job on her! We will be the only ones in Thedas
I'll always remember DA2 fondly for matching our family our main character.

They don't include curly or wavy hair styles, which Europeans can have, so we are decidedly out of luck in that arena.
I'm no apologist, but I prefer to focus on the positives, less I go mad >_>

I always recommend Steven Erickson's Malazan book of the Fallen, for he includes diverse characters without any stereotypes. It's beyond refreshing. (The first book is a hard and dense read, but so worth it. The third book and on become easier to take in. Epic writing!
Let's just pray Vivienne won't die for story purposes ._.

It looked like the video only showed half of the human hair options, so there's still a chance of seeing what you want. At the very least I think they will have cornrows like Sten had, though that's not ideal.

I know the female qunari have cornrows for sure. Hopefully that option exists for all the races- although I do hope they work on the texturing a little, they look a bit funny at the moment...

 

EDIT: They have two styles of cornrows, I just double-checked.

I've chosen cornrows, though not my favorite style, I perfer that over an elf with a hotcomb or blowdryer

I didn't even care for the gameplay all that much, and I still get the warm and fuzzies just thinking about it lol.

They briefly showed a black Inquisitor a while back. He had a fade or something. And I imagine they'll have dreads and cornrows as well.

What is the cornrows style exactly ? I hope personally that we have something else than :

I'll NEVER forgive Soul Calibur 3. I'm actually ashamed that I ever bought any of their following games... They introduce Zasamalel, BUT in the character creator, you could not make a brown skinned character!

I actually had to give my character a brown undershirt and mask to pretend that the character looked like me... Clothes had access to brown, but skin did not... It was a complex color creator, and not a simple slider. I could be 50 shades of grey, but not brown

I think I will play DA2, again, to wipe the foul taste of Namco out of my mouth...

Well for me it was Jacob from Mass effect 2. I was like, fuuuu, i'm going to create a good black guy. Hahaha, the joke.  His  black skin texture wasn't even available. I wish I was on pc to mod LOL !

Yeah, the Mass Effect companions always looked better than Shepard IMO (other than the default Shepard who was based on a real person).

Yeah. That's probably why so many folks chose the default shepard lol. At least in DAII I felt it wasn't really difficult to give a better render than default malehawk. ( was so ugly IMO )

 

But you could still have some results  if you worked hard with shep even if your companions looked better. I've seen some very good shep on internet and without mods ! ( I've seen some good black characters but this time with mods of course lol )

Just give me a low natural fro or a tapered one and i'm good.

Plus it's good to see Steven Erikson being name dropped by someone other than me on this board. His style is polarizing but he's an underrated writer. I'd place him up there with Tolkien, Martin and Donaldson. Yeah i'll ease up on the ******, but still.

I want to rock an Afro for my black Inquisitor! I really hope that we can create a legitimate black person for DAI. Judging from Viviene I'm optimistic.

I remember playing Origins and feeling very awkward with my human noble being the only black guy in a white family. It broke immersion and I had to come up with a backstory to explain it.

Just throwing my support behind this thread. The skin tones look great and the CC in general actually optimized to create black characters, so the lack of at least one solid black hairstyle (preferably not just cornrows) for each gender would be very disappointing.

As a african american id like to have more "black" options. I have afro(pic and all lol) so it would be cool if they had this

Well, low/medium quality looks pretty good to someone who is potentially looking at nothing.

It would mean a lot more if they tried and the results were subpar, then if they had nothing!
