Why is it such a big secret? All of the other companion voice actors are known. Inquisition comes out next month. When are you going to tell us?

Update: Alastair Parker has been confirmed as Blackwall's VA!

I noticed this yesterday (when I found out Vivienne was voiced by Indira Varma and had a total fan-gasm). He's the only one whose voice actor I couldn't find. I doubt it's because it's SUCH a big star, as we already have some pretty big names lined up (Freddie Prince Jr, Kate Mulgrew, etc,). So, what gives, Bioware...?

Excellent question, I really want to know as well. It really doesn't make much sense that they've waited so long. Either it's a big name and they're waiting until we get near release. Or it's a smaller name and they just don't feel like it needs an announcement.

One time, during the gamescom demo, he said 'Don't waste time on them, head to the castle !" It was kind of hard to hear, and it was yelled. So we don't really know what he sounds like normally.

I watched the demo with BW in it and I heard his voice clearly, imo he sounds like Alastair Parker. Just listen to BW in the demo carefully and then Alistairs video.

He's probably the most likely VA I've seen mentioned, I just wish they'd go ahead and tell us. I don't see the point in dragging it out anymore.

Thoughts were Sean Bean, Stephen Dillane, Rory McCann, but Sheryl Chee said it's not Rory McCann. Another thought was Richard Armitage.

You do realize of course that it is not essential for Bioware to release any further information, least of all voice actor names, prior to the game coming out, right?

Because playing the game is not dependant on being privy to this information.

Perhaps, it is a special surprise. Or perhaps they are just too busy to bother with revealing such inconsequential information.

Well they made a big deal of announcing some of the other companion VA's. I see no reason why we shouldn't get to know who voices him like all the other companions. 

 

Also, don't try to just call something that doesn't interest you inconsequential, just because you're not interested doesn't mean other people aren't

Of course there's no need to release VA names prior to launch.  That's why they posted YouTube interviews with some of them.  People don't really care about the information, that's why they're checking the forums a month before the game's out to see if there's any news.

 

My guess is that Blackwall's VA is a special treat.  One the forums are going to explode over when his name's revealed.  I suspect it's Richard Armitage.  His age and accent are the exact ones listed in the casting notes, and Blackwall's appearance is remarkably similar to the actor with Thorin beard and hair.  Especially the eyes/brows and the small hollows under the cheekbones.  It could be a coincidence, but as long as I'm speculating, I might as well be optimistic.

I speculate that they may mention that he's close to his calling. But I doubt we'll see it happen. Since killing off a companion in the middle of the game sounds like a bad idea.

I'd definitely be hyped if it turns out to be Richard Armitage or Sean Bean. I'm sure both of them could do a wonderful job.
