Really? Leandra's death didn't get to you? That was one of those moments in DA2 that actually did get to me. If they had written Anders betrayal better, it might have, too, but I recognized that he was making gun power because they got cutesy with the potion ingredients, so I suspected he was making a bomb and wasn't disappointed.

But the idea that they sent a serial killer after Hawke's mother was actually something I didn't expect, and I hadn't gotten used to idea that Hawke always showed up at the 13th hour, too late to do anything except watch the disaster unfold.

The only character that i ever wanted to kill in the DA universe instead of just sending them away was (and still is) isabela. Ugh. Just... ugh! If she shows up in inquisition and tries to initiate sex with me or my LI (wouldnt be surprised).... i swear to the maker.... i better be able to at least punch her lol. Orrr i could feed her to a dragon!!!! Oh, the possibilities!

Murderers, assassins, blood mages... and your no-go is a woman who is honest about her sexuality?

I... got nothing.

In all honesty, there is being honest about your sexuality and then there's being Isabela.

Seriously, she sort of gives bisexuals a bad rep.

Fair. But characters of any orientation can be slutty. If you consider that more unforgivable than being an unrepentant assassin, or a terrorist, then I have news about where your sense of right and wrong stands compared to most...

Only if somebody is silly enough to judge an entire group of people based on one person.

I knew I'd get jumped on for saying that, but seriously, Isabela would give any orientation a bad rep. She acts like she's about to straddle anything that moves. If she confined that urge to men, she's give heteros a bad rep. If she confined that urge to women, she's give homos a bad rep.

It's not that I have anything against bisexuals, just the way Isabela came off as a character.

I have something against any character whose dialogue seems to consist of ways to get something into bed.

In his way, Oghren was as bad, and I wasn't very fond of him.

Now, if Isabela spent all her time telling me about all the various ways she thought of to kill someone instead of all the various ways she thought of bed them ... I'd not like her for being an assassin.

She was just one dimensional, not funny. That being said, I never went out of my way to do mean things to her like turn her in to the Arishok. I usually just ignored her.

I liked Isabela myself, but I do agree she went on about bedding people a bit too much. It galls me that it was almost all she was reduced to, when personally I would have been much more interested to learn more about her adventures as a pirate captain, and in such a way that actually came across as legit (because frankly she talked about the pirating life as if it were much easier then it ever should have been for a woman captain). If they just would have allowed her more depth, more fleshing out..

I also liked Oghren, in fact, I loved Oghren as a party member for likely the same reasons others disliked him for. He was quite funny - I present these fan-made adventure vids starring Oghren, Zevran and Alistair (the first is the best). Heh.. ;)

Oghren was just too much of a stereotype for me to take him seriously. They were going on and on about how the guy in the one play video called Varric the "Gimli character?" Well, Oghren was the Gimli character x10.

I found that a little Gimli goes a long way, so a little Oghren went too far for my taste. But to each their own.

I'm starting wonder which ones out of this bunch are going to annoy me. It seems I always get surprised and the ones I think I'm going to like end up being the ones I don't care as much for and vice versa.

Meh. My issue with Isabela isn't the promiscuity (there is nothing wrong with that), but her tendency to sexually harass. She isn't as bad as Oghren, but it's still uncomfortable.

It's a reality of war that you can't save anyone, whether or not Virmire was executed well.

True but I want to be able to try. That's the problem I had with Virmire not that Kaiden or Ashley died, that I couldn't push so hard to try and save them both, the first time I played that scene I went full "berserk" mode and played the best I ever had, using every tool in my disposal to try and do the impossible and save both of them. I should of been able to convince Ashe or Kaiden to not set the bomb, I should of been able to jump the fence and try and pull Kaiden to safety, but I couldn't. I far preferred how you can save

Spoiler
from Deus Ex Human Revolution, which is crazy hard on the higher difficulties but it can be done with what felt like super human skill and I LOVED THAT.

well originally they planned to allow Shepard to save both Ashley and Kaiden if Shepard had help support the Assault team enough with the extra task before entering the building but the scrapped that idea so they can make us have a hard choice moment.

As of DAI, I hope the death are more towards the player choices like they have in DAO. If the scene in the video we see is one outcome being the death of the two companions then most likely they skipped some side tasks that would have reduced the Demon army numbers allowing them to hold them back long enough. There is after all a time skip in the video skipping a good amount of the Redcliff castle.

The task to reduce the Demon numbers could have been to close off certain amount of rifts and kill enough enemies to reduce their numbers which they most likely may have skipped.

I liked Isabela. I always saw her behaviour as a defense mechanism to avoid become emotional involved with people. then again, I romanced both her, Morrigan and Jack (from ME2).  ;)
