No, I simply thought your comment was arrogant and your reply rather unpleasant. I then realized I had no interest in explaining to you how or why I played Mass Effect (my saves are from 2 years ago, so this grinding you think was done happened long before any importing details were discussed) or how I've never played WOW or any MMO game, or that I think you made some odd and rather bitter assumptions, or how I'm insulted that someone is actually trying to instruct me about how a Bioware game is about the story... see. It's just not worth it. Waste of your time, waste of mine.

Hopefully they don't carry over. I never did finish some of those.

Heres how it works people: if you did the mineral quests in ME1, you'll get a small bonus to resources in ME2. ME2's mineral resources actually have a functional purpose however. They are basically a currency used for the tech lab and if you have the right schematics you'll be able to make adjustments to your ship, your gear, ect ect.

You get extra money for having the rich achievement.

This. It's a good, yet not important bonus in which you'll be able to research more right away, though you can do that anyway if you scan planets more. It just helps you out in the beginning like the Level 60 bonus does :)

Every planet for some reason had like fifty Mt. Everest ranges and then your vehicle maneuvered like a slug.

Ugh yeah. I was going to do a 3rd playthrough in order to:
-Go from 59 to 60
-Complete all the collection assignments
-Reach those couple of assignments that only show up if you visit the areas themselves (AKA you don't obtain them during missions or from Citadel people), like the one where you help out killing rachni. I did every other assignment though.
-Craft my decisions just a little better, though this isn't needed
-explore every UW...

But I can't do it. It's a couple days left and I just can't use the Mako at all. I'll stick with my 2nd nearly-perfect playthrough.

From what I read somewhere the minerals quest does carry over. If you complete it, then you get an initial mineral bonus at the start. Minerals are used in some kind of research system.

Other stuff that carries over. Money - highest starting credit amount if 150k if you have. Max Credits maybe level depend though. Only a level 60 ME1 character could bring in the max amount.

Paragon/Renegade Bonus also carry over. 10% of you Morality bar.

In terms of levels, I heard that a level 60 character starts ME2 at level 5, while a level 50 character is set at level 3. Non imports start at level 1.

I could be wrong, I m doing this from memory from another thread.

I see both sides of the discussion and for those who DID spend the time to do that stuff should get some bonus, i mean seriously it is a single player game so as to the OPness of the character, who cares.

On the other hand if in order to get some advantage in the next go around you had to forgo the story a bit, risk a loss of immersion to spend an inordinate amount of time to do the extra stuff, i can see your point as well.

I do have to go with the completionists though, hard work should be rewarded and as i said it is a single player game so an OP PC is irrelevant. Side with completion bonus people.

That's what absolutely killed any chance of me doing any more replays than my two 50+ male and female Shepherd.  If I want to try something different, I will just download an ME 1 savefile from someone else and modify their appearance.  The thought of doing some of the Mako missions kills me.  I can replay Dragon Age with no problems...but ME 1...ugh....not another mountain...

You do get something, you start with resources in ME2. Not sure how much they are relative to what you need, but you do get something.

Is it possible to refuse the starting 'bonuses'? Personally, I want to transfer in my player choices, but I don't want a brand new game made 'easier' for me before I even start!

The source for the minerals quest bonus carry over is OXM February 2010 issue. I bet if you search hard enough you can find the relevant pages online somewhere.
