I can think of some things off the top of my head:

*Better itemization. Game has too much generic loot and it seems like the unique loot is heavily steered towards heavy/massive armor. They need more unique items for certain builds...specifically Speciliazation classes. Not enough of that in the game.

*New Crafting system. On top of having Traps, Poisons and Herbalism...why not expand that further? I think they could help the itemization of the game out by adding new Talents like: Enchanting(can make Runes), Weaponsmith(can make tons of weapons), Armorsmith(can make tons of armor). Far as enchanting goes...they could add a lot more variety of Runes in the game. DA really didn't have all that many different types of Runes.

*Better variety of Artwork on their Weapons/Armor. DA has a bad habit of recycling graphic textures from other Weapons/Armor. Looking at King Cailain's armor...its basically a version of the Warden's Commander armor minus the color and the Eagle emblem on the front. Bergen's Honor is basically a Templar Helmet...

*I'd like to see levels on Talents/Skills now. For instance, if I want to make a specific Talent stronger, I can put more talent points specifically in that to level it up. Kinda like in WoW/Diablo's skill trees.

* Decisions carried over just like ME2

*More classes. They had a Arcane Warrior for Mage which was a hybrid. I'd like to seem them add another class or two into DA2 that are hybrids of some sort. Probably will be a balance issue though...hybrid classes in every game I've ever played are overpowered it seems like.

*More variety in side-quests and less "generic" locations. It seems like as I was strolling the wilderness on the World Map, I'd get into a random encounter, beat it, then the next random encounter used the exact same map! ME had a big problem of this too with its generic locations. Need more map variety and some more variety in mission structure.

*Option to respec!

*More Tactics slots and a more robust Tactic AI system. They need a more specific AI system in the game.

That is just some random thoughts off the top of my head, what do you guys want added?

I would like for the blood mage specialization to be able to summon demons like they are supposed to be able to do. I would also like for people to recognize that you are a blood mage a be scared senseless.

Ah, maybe Bioware can dear god stray from the new Bioware's Path of games?

KotOR, JE, ME and DA are all the same: Starting quest, split to 3-4 areas you can go however you like for quests, end quest.

Good suggestions so far, especially improved itemization, crafting, and levels for talents. I could easily give a dozen suggestions, but I will just give the one at the forefront of my mind right now.

More variety between character types and story. Honestly, I loved the different orgins and can still enjoy myself immensely doing any of them after so many playthroughs. After Ostagar, however, the game becomes all too familiar again and I lose interest. I find myself going back to play through another origin. It could also be the fact that, in my opinion, that first chunk of the game is the most well done, but I can't help wishing that there was more variety to be had after Ostagar besides some different dialogue options. That would mean considerably more work, of course, but it would result in such a large improvement both to the overall game and its replayability.

I really dont want very much, sorry but the crafting idea of the OP is just to much and to powerful, as is the armor making and weapon making. If you can make your own runes, armor, weapons, items, loot becomes meaningless in game.

I like getting that big item from a hard fought battle.

Really only a few things id add.

1) Nudity (Top only) to the love sceens

2) I like ME2 idea of losing reputation points with team mates if you dont use them occationally. Makes sense and adds to over all experience

3) Greater selections of talking with various degree results so its not always so black and white for selections.

4) Voice Over reading the codex for us ala Mass Effect 1

Otherwise, I was pretty happy with DA:O and wouldnt change anything else.

More classes/races, when I first looked at what was offered, first time I was creating a character, it felt like something was missing. I like the idea that you can play someone from Orlais according to information about the expansion coming up. But it would be nice to play a Qunari too, and get a feel for their culture, how they do things..Sten is good, but there must be other facets to their lives other than what he portrays. He's the stoic soldier type, I would like to see how the women of his race react to things or what they believe in.

Not really...depends. That would just be a balance issue easily offset. The really unique items you make, would be really hard to do so because it would have rare crafting materials. In some cases, unique crafting materials that are a one time use and hard to aquire. With that, you can make a little more generic stuff but not too powerful and not useless. Obviously, the lower end stuff would be easier to make.

For instance, since I suggested we get levels on Talents/Skills now...they need to add that to itemization. Make a fairly weak dagger that has low damage stats and its only special ability is say...add +1 to a certain talent. They need a random item generator, IMO, like Diablo does. It doesn't need to be that robust but they need some ways to help their itemization. Having a thousands  of different combinations for one item pretty much covers everyone's play style, wouldn't you think? I know the loot system used in this game uses a bit of randomness to decide the stats but its very basic compared to games like Diablo.

I personally like how the economy is in DA, which is often times a big problem in these type of games. Mass Effect had a big problem of it where you had endless credits with nothing to buy. You really have to spend a lot of money to get just one unique item in DA...which makes sense. The same mindset would be for great items in crafting...just that instead of using money, you'd have to find multiple ways to get the extremely rare crafting material.

This could help their side-quests too. You mainly get money as a reward for doing side-quests, why not beef it up a bit and do a really hard mission to get a rare awesome crafting material piece at the end as a thank you? So, in the end, I don't see how it would make it unbalanced. You'd still have to pay tons for one unique item and devote equal amounts of time crafting the great unique stuff. Far as making too many items in crafting...you're still spending your money on the low end stuff to get the crafting material...which is less money for that big unique item you can get from a vendor.

My biggest request is alternate ways to open locks. Having an unlock spell or allowing a strong character to smash open chests and doors should be an option. A lot of loot and XPs were lost in Ostagar if your character is not a rogue. You can leave disarming traps to the rogues although it would be nice if a big fireball spell could also incinerate any traps.

-Make Shapeshifting actually worthwhile. Also, please prevent another main party member (like Sten) from only being able to choose one specialization during the entirety of the game. Image IPB

-Make there be consequences/prerequisites with your specializations. For instance, you cannot choose to be a Blood Mage/Reaver unless your character has partaken in evil decisions or actions.

-Enable multiple party character conversation starters. Ex. When Alistair asks Wynne in a whiny pitch about fixing a hole in his shirt, Morrigan pipes in with a witty remark if she's the 4th member in your current party. The banters between your party are gold, but it does seem strange that there is no contributing conversation from the 4th member.

-DLC Characters and Dog: Don't get me wrong, I love Shale and Dog equally (I'm actually using Shale atm for tanking), but the lack of specializations and more well rounded talents are a huge turn-off, especially for Dog in the later part of the game. If there are similar characters in the expansion, I hope Bioware puts a little more thought into them.

-Armor: My main problem with the game. Make different sets actually look different from the starter sets *cough robes*. Maybe have a new profession that enables you to craft dyes from herbalism so that you can dye your armor. Have different recipes throughout the world.

-Allow poison use on arrows.

-Allow more tactic slots to be available at the early and mid stages of the game (if this will even apply in Awakening, I do not know).

-Allow Master Coercionists the ability to invest in one shop or merchant.

This turned out a bit longer then I thought it would, but I still have to say that this game is the best I've played in a very long time (and best RPG by a long shot) Image IPB

- Option to skip encounters on the world map or remove them entirely.

- Option to assign talent/skill points manually for party members or accept a default when they join you for the first time.

- More scenes like Leiliana's song at the camp, interludes like that were endearing (for me anyway) and small things like the way Sten or Morrigan glance over at what's going on really make the whole piece quite memorable.

- More set-pieces where the entire group accompanies you in battle or on a whole quest, even if you only control 1-4 characters yourself.

- Ability to detect stealthed enemies.

- More activated talents for tank characters to generate hostility on enemies.

- Voiced PC ala Mass Effect (only one male/female voiceover, but optional so people who prefer silent protagonists can turn it off for the same kind of conversation style DAO already has).

- For 360 players, some way of moving individual characters to a different positions in combat without having to take direct control, perhaps a 'move' option in the radial menu that gives you one of those little AOE circles that you can pick a location with.

- Camera focusing on the PC more often when a dialogue choice comes up. Camera could also pan out to show the speaker and the listener from different angles more often. KOTOR did this well for dialogues that could take place anywhere.

That's just a few I can think off right now.

More bag space much much more..like 200-300 bagspace. I dont know if anyone else has the same problem as me but while i'm mid-mission or in the middle of nowhere and i have no more bag space it annoyes me that i have to destroy something to get space for this important item,

A lot of interesting suggestions. I found the game nearly perfect, myself, but more bag space would be SERIOUSLY appreciated! I just had to leave in the middle of the werewolf dungeon and go all the way back to the dalish camp just to unload all of my junk. I realize that you can buy new backpacks here and there, but making itemization a pain in the butt is something most RPGs share, which isn't much appreciated by us players.

Also, I would like the option to romance every single NPC. For characters like Shale and Wynne, maybe a romance doesn't take the form of physical affection, but another form like very close friendship that includes special scenes like the other romances. Maybe you have scenes where you share a humorous moment with shale instead of a steamy love scene, or similar moments with Wynne. I don't know, maybe that makes them just another party member instead of a romance, but it is something to consider.

I´d agree with the inventory change. It seems silly to me that you can have a huge stack of potions take the same amount of bag-space as one crystal or a full suit of full-plate for that matter. I love the whole shared inventory thing in Dragon Age, but I´d rather see a Diablo style inventory (puzzling for the win) or a weight based system like Baldur´s Gate. Or better yet: a combination of the three!

Horses and other mounts!

Seriously, it gets a little silly when horses are supposed to be used by everyone and yet there isn't a single one in game.

-Not a Grey Warden hero, or at least make it a choice if there will be factions in DA2.

-Movement between nations, see more of a variety, like go to different ports or outlying towns in a neighboring nation.

-Better/more models for armor, like headgear for mages.

-Some sidequests that impact the main story a little more (would have been neat if the Interested Parties, Collective, and Irregulars helped in the end).

-Maybe a quest that involves spying, sneaking around, or investigation.

All I can think of off the top of my head.

Lore included on item descriptions instead of being seperate in the codex.

More Icons

Stamina potions

Alternatives to lock picking (already suggested).

-useable items such as wands and rods, and especially musical instuments for bards.

-Some randomisation for chest loot (including the above items) would enhance replay value imo. I have the feeling that the rather dreary loot in locked chests was a result of only rogues being able to open them.

-Rune slots for armour and shields. Maybe every rune could have an offensive and defensive quality depending on what you attach them to.

-more magic rings. I just don't like to have empty ring slots on companions at the end of the game. They dont have be to too flashy though.

-environmental lighting having an effect on the success/failure of stealth.

-Some kind of text bubble that tells you what has gone into your inventory, so the player doesn't have to check for the faint yellow glows of unexamined items to find out.

Other than that, and some of the fine suggestions from others, more of the same please :)

lots of good ones here, many already have mods out that do the exact same thing and they should all be 'packaged' into da:o2  Some more that I'd love to see....

NOTE: May be some minor unavoidable SPOILERS below

- More Difficult Nightmare Setting: As it is, it's just way too easy once you get the hang of the game. Tweak some skills to be less effective or toughen up the enemies AI....3 nightmare playthroughs and i've never had to use rocksalve or any of the other dozens of 'protection items' that are just vendor trash.

-More Complex Skill Trees: By level 4 i already have a top tier skill? Would love to see the skill tree's expanded with tougher requirements to increase build complexity. Would also help reduce the overpowered feeling of mages by directing builds further in their role. Jack of all trades AW/BM who can AoE, nuke, debuff, heal and CC not to mention take a beating and swing a sword is a little ridiculous. Make AW require a certain number of points in a 'buff tree' and BM a certain number in debuff or primal.

-Make All Stats Important: I was sad to realize there was not a single spell with a Willpower modifier....even heal and buffs are based off of Magic. Every build is basically 'pump all points into one of the folowwing Dex/str/cun/magic' diversity just doesn't exisit in DA:O. The best builds shouldn't boil down to 90 Dex, 90 Magic or 90 Str, the stats should be there depending on your role and class; again jack of all trades requiring only 1 stat increase is just too easy.

-More Interesting Thought Requiring Boss Fights: Broodmother was fun and despite all the dragons being exactly the same, they too were fun. More Broodmother type encounters and much less Revenant/Arcane Demon/Boss hurlocks with dozens of adds.

-More Diverse Enemies: Hurlocks genlocks and thugs, hurlocks genlocks and thugs...abominations and skeletons, abominations and skeletons....Give me more Ogres atleast.

-Incrimental Gear Increases: Even on nightmare there really is hardly any point of upgrading armor until you get to the top tiers and best of the best. I'd love to 'feel' like i need to upgrade before i have access to the best of the best. Part of this is due to the DLC's, another part is again due to pumping the 1 stat that matters in your character  gives you access to everything. Constitution to wear Massive? Yes please.

-Much Less Fade Encounters or...:
The moment i see the Fade, i quickly realize that the next few minutes do not matter and immediately want to get through as fast as possible. No loot, no team experience, and encounters way too easy to ensure someone somewhere doesn't get frustrated. Rather dramatically change the experience with 'fade companions' you can recruit, or find someway to reward us besides the one currently in game(trying not to spoil) That of which goes back to the same thing mentioned in almost all of my posts....no need for 90% of them.

-Summary of Already Mentioned's
: More diverse gear so there isn't 1armor set or 1 weapon per class that is best, better tactics, more hidden sidequests(gaxkang ftw), tie in's with DA:O1, some way to respec atleast part of your character, more exploration and side areas that don't tie into the main quest, some sort of plot twist sure would be nice too

I'd like the PC to actually speak instead of being a silent contributor to the conversation. I'd also like it if the other characters called the PC by name (assuming you used one of the default names of course). I don't like being referred to as "You" through the whole game. It's giving me a "you people" complex. How am I supposed to believe Alistair loves me if he doesn't even know my name? ;)

I like everything that has been said so, I'll say something different.

-New Game+. Most games these days have it so I was surprised DAO didnt have it. I want to be able to start the next game with everything I worked so hard to get in my previous game!
-More people should have items you can steal as well as money and it should tell you what you stole at the bottom of the screen. (it annoyed me when I'd steal an item and not know what it was without going through my inventory)
-When you sleep with non-party members, (like the girl in the Dalish camp) they should still show some kind of love scene. And how about being able to form relationships with non-party members, too? Forming relationships with certain characters also give you benefits, too, and access to places you normally wouldnt have access to. Or they give items (that can be used, not just as a sign of affection) Kind of like GTA4.
-More robes and staffs for mages and more gear for rogues!
-The ability to actually initiate finishing moves instead of them being random. Also, more types of finishers. And under the right conditions, you should be able to finish an enemy before their life bar runs out.
-More classes, races, and origin stories. When you choose a human warrior or rogue, your only origin story is to be a noble. I felt like there could have been a lot more for a human like a criminal that is out to redeem himself after becoming a Warden, for instance. Or an adventurer out to find his purpose or seeking treasure but his life becomes something more important, etc. Use your imagination!
-The ability to travel to other lands in Thedas. I want the world to be at least 3-4 times larger. All of the characters talk about Antiva, Orlais, the Anderfels, Free Marches, Highever, etc, so expand the world so we can see these places and do missions in these lands. And the characters there should treat you according to your race, class, etc.

Overall, I love the game. One of the best RPGs I've ever played but I want more from DAO either in the upcoming expansion packs or a sequel!

Hell, I just want them to follow the ME2 mold and fix things that didn't work ALLOT and better the things that did work... and then add more more more more!

OH YEAH! MORE FATALITIES!
