Mounts, like horses or maybe even griffons. Worked for Elder Scrolls and Ever Quest 2. Perhaps you can also gain abilities for using your rides, such as the ability to trample enemies or tear them up with your griffon.

- More Complex Villains: The Archdemon is all well and good as the final villain of the story when it comes to the challenge it poses, but having an overpowered evil-incarnate monster that you know couldn't be anything other than a final boss is extremely typical of fantasy RPG's these days, and what's worse is that you discover this only a few hours into the game. I can safely say that I enjoyed interacting with Awakening's Architect much more than the Archdemon. I'd rather have a villain whose motives go beyond destruction or power, maybe one that the player can sympathize with; maybe even one the player regrets having to kill.  It would also be nice if future villains were a little more active; rather than send wave after wave of minions to kill you they should be actively working against you in ways that differ from open combat.

- More Complex Romance: The romance in Dragon Age was the best of any RPG I've played, but there's room for improvement. I never romance males so I'm not sure about them, but the female romances seem to follow the formula of "agree with their opinion" + "side quest" = "romantic triumph". Sure, there's the whole "Morrigan's ritual" thing, but that happens regardless of level of romantic interest. Also, both women seem to follow the stereotype of "untameable warrior babes", although Leliana is slightly less so. Obviously there is plenty of room for other kinds of personalities. There could be a character with low self-confidence, or a character with little actual interest in your main goal, or maybe even a reformed villain trying to change their ways. The possibilities are limitless. Finally, it would help if love interests were a little more proactive in the romance. The only thing I ever got from Morrigan was sex, a ring and a bad ending. I'm not asking for a dating simulator, but there's more to romance than gifts, sex and 1 or 2 personal demons.

- No Open World: Unless BioWare is certain they can maintain the level of detail the provided in Dragon Age, they should not make the sequel open-world. Nevertheless, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to expanding individual areas.

- Handle the epilogues of the original: I can't be sure whether your first character will be avaiable for the probable sequel, but if so the epilogue from the first game pertaining to you should probably be explored. It would be shame for it to begin like Awakening with next to no recognition of your choices at the end of the main game. Maybe there should be different origin stories in the sequel depending on what you chose to do at the end of the first game.

- No New Blight: Unless the very nature of a Blight changes dramatically it probably wouldn't be a need to base the sequel on one. In fact, it doesn't even neccessarily have to be about darkspawn in general. In the first Dragon Age novel they only played a very minor role.

i already came up with an idea for new mounts. Griffons have been gone 200 + years it would be streatching it to say oh look we found some again . OK my idea was to use magic to stunt the growth of dragons. To a size thats more suited for flying on the back of. And magic could also be used to make sure they dont just fly away. It would be cooler then griffons , because now your mounts breath fire. But i would be happy if the game just had MORE or BETTER QAing/beta testing so there are fewer issues come release day. AND i dont want my PC to be a mute anymore please make them talk !!.

The main thing that has been lacking for me since BGII, has been the legendary weapons. In BGII, you had to find each part of the weapon, possibly tackling a dragon or two to get each component. Then once the items have been discovered, only a master craftsman, with the correct instructions, can craft the item into weapon.

Since the Crom Feyer, I have always been under-whelmed by the challenges of getting a legendary weapon and also felt in each game, be it DA or NWN etc, the 'legendary weapons' do not have the jaw dropping satisfaction of items such as the Flail of Ages, Crom Feyer or the Carsomyr.

Part of this is that most of the 'best' items in DA, are often bought from stores, which seems ridiculous, as any over powered item would be bought up by a famous adventurer, then lost whilst battling an even more over powered enemy. Stores should have good, possibly elite items, but not legendary items.

Secondly, each legendary item should have some codex PREceding it, not unveiled after you find it. All that means is you blindly stumbled on it. I like hearing about this fantastical item and heading off on a hunt for it, regardless of the perils.

Finally the shear amount of 'named' items in DA, whilst impressive, takes away from the truly fantastic items. As they are simply a small improvement and are often made redundant in certai situations by other items with specific bonus'.

The MOST satisfaction I had was finding all the pieces of the 'Legion of the Dead' armour, then treated to that small bonus when donning it all and going to that specific place. I felt like I had found something special with that armour and even though it is not the best, I view it much more valuable, simply because it was not as simple as killing one enemy or buying it in the store.

A product that isn't rushed, full of bugs, then left hanging withh no repair patches for months.

DAO was great until 1.03. Awakening was enjoyable, but the bugs and the way it killed pickpocket for original DAO has led me to draw a line. If they don't support their product and do blow off their customers, I'm not buying another thing.

But if they get this 1.03 thing fixed, I found DAO to be a masterpiece and really can't complain if DA 2 is just as good in terms of story, character development, and decision making. But first I need some evidence that DA2 is not going to be a rushed POS on the technical side like DAA was.

actualy they dont have to improve much ...... but a MUST is :

60 hours real gameplay (of wich 5 hrs are sidequests)

a difficulty mode that can be taken serious , specially for the very expirienced players.

Difficulty Modes wich are not falling appart with the games first DLC's or expansion (ergo planned scaling of max lvl , abilitys and gear).

IMPORTANT: start where DAO stoppped .....i wanna know what Morrigan is up to

The rest , graphics ect arent much important to me ...hell it could look like BG2 if the story is awesome

dunno if I've contributed, but here goes:

deeper romance: basically what someone on this page said. make it a little bit more engaging and proactive on their part.

less bugs. dialogue options actually appearing and triggering correctly, etc and Origins dialogue system with a touch of Awk's.

maybe a little expansion of the areas we visit, so its not so much go to this one small area and kill everything.

less bugs. such as items actually appearing in-game and quests, etc not being bugged to the point of "impossible to complete".

maybe a fire emblem style merchant / storage guy w/o  having to buy DLC.

more hairstyles and such in the default package.

more / better looking gear on the lighter scale of things (that actually appears). it doesn't seem like Bioware gives 2 flying poos about the rogues and mages. A light armor suit of plate? something. more elegant robes (maybe like the ones Arcane Horrors wear, I haven't seen the Architect's Robes on a player yet). also, a little bit more attention to specs in this regard ie a couple of assassin only daggers, perhaps? duelist only longswords?

I'm pretty sure WoW has this option, an option to have headware equipped but never showing, even in combat. half the helms (to me) are either (very) passable or some of the fugliest things ever.

LESS BUGS.

class options and such that don't suck (archery w/o mods and / or until Awk, plus an actual archer spec, shapeshifting, duelist IMO).

more proportionate / slightly better designed NPCs and such. I mean, half the people in Awk probably have some hideous disease that causes disturbing facial proportions. there's basically a Yosemite Sam in Awk, for cryin' out loud.

granted I'm on PC, so I already have fixes for a good amount of this, but releasing products in this state is just sloppy to my eye.

oh yeah, instead of releasing the next expac or actual game when you (read; EA) want(s) to, take another year, year and a half to actually make sure it works in these things mentioned.

and have an option to turn off the visual effects w/o making us resort to mods. I'm talking about blood magic, momentum, threaten, and the like. they were cool effects until the first time through lothering. I like the effects on Draining Aura and Elemental Chaos, etc, because those actually make sense and look cool. threaten and blood magic don't.
     - subpoint: it would be cool if appropriate weapon runes could "flare up" as combat starts, but the vfx just interferes with conversations and cutscenes.

Not showing the spell effects in conversations. It really broke my immersion when a dialogue initiated right after combat and my party was lit up like a cristmas tree while having a serious conversation.

I even reloaded sometimes and turned all sustained abilities off right before I won the battle.

How about instead of your weapon going through the enemy when you hit him and blood just coming out of no where, how about each time you hit the enemy your blade digs into the enemy's armor and has a "Sheeen" sound the accompany it so it would be more realistic.

These are my two things I'd like to see improved in DA2: size of the areas (for better exploration) and optional areas (not required to visit for completing the main quest) with side quests.

In Dragon Age: Origins the maps were rather small (although beautiful). Side quests rook place in the same areas you had to visit for the main quest anyway. This gave Dragon Age a bit of a linear feeling, which (in my view) is something to be avoided.

A lot of great ideas here. I would like to see Ability to use your DAO charactures. NO BUGS, class specific super weapons(Stave for mage, 2 Daggers/ Bow for rogue, sword sheild/ great sword, warrior class).preferably a quest to get said items based on your class. Example a warrior in order to obtain a weapons set needs to do a dungeon by him/her self. As well as the usual assortment of power weapons. Long shot but I want to ride a Griffen even if it is just before the end battle.

There's been a hell of a lot of very good ideas here, so I'll just say "all of the above!".

I was pretty happy with DA:O though, it was my first experience with this type of game (I'd always been a player of mainly driving games or games like Hitman, or Grand Theft Auto for example) and it's sucked me in big time.

I trust Bioware with their creation - I'm sure they'll make it bigger, badder & better in every way.

Actually, speaking of Hitman, how about some side missions involving assassinations?

i want a demon to be recruitable character, preferably a Desire demon, to join my party.

all these demons just want to explore the mortal realm, hide in the body of some innocent and experience what its like to be mortal, but the dummies always attempt to make the same bloody deal, like someone else wont come along and kill them the first chance they get. "Don't kill me and let me go and ill do <this.>" to bad <this> is never anything worth while for the consequences it normally causes, if a single demon or taint-possessed-ghoul (I.E Sophia) came to me and said "Protect me and let me come with you, ill help you in your cause" i would gladly let them wander around with me so long as they let me put them on a short leash. it would arguably be considerably more preferable then the alternatives, these demons were never in a good spot to begin with when i bumped into them, if they were, i wouldn't have bumped into them. ;)

and after I'm dead, I wouldn't care to much about the demon.

I really like the way things are now as of installing Awakening. About the only things I'd like to see would be maybe set it in a different location and to improve bow/archery effectiveness. All the skills for archery are no better than any of the melee or magic skills and bows can't have poison or runes on them like melee weapons so they are far less effective.

That's about it though, I hope the quality of story writing and environmental design stays as high as it is for the current iteration of the game.

- More Complex Villains:
- More Complex Romance.
- No Open World:
- Handle the epilogues of the original:
- No New Blight:

On more complex villains, I agree with you about the Archdemon being one-dimensional. However, I think Bioware did a good job on portraying Loghain (he WAS a villain after all). I actually prefer leaving Loghain alive when I get to that part of the game, despite its "repurcussions" (I actually think the "downside" is a good thing. Screw that whiny, pathetic excuse for a person.) However, I do have to mention that the Wardens are NOT well known before the Landsmeet. You aren't face to face with Loghain and the Archdemon throughout the game. Hell, they barely know/care you exist. To them you are simply a couple of Wardens who didn't die when they were supposed to.

On romance, I also agree with you, but I have quite a bit less to say. All I want is more personality types. Morrigan and Leliana are both great (I've romanced them both), but yes, there can be improvements, and yes, I would love to romance a chick with Oghren's personality. Just sayin'.

On open world, I agree. Open worlds are great for replay value, but usually lack in focus. Dragon Age should be a bit more linear. I feel as if my character doesn't have the time to be helping every last plebian I meet, yet I do anyways. (I believe there are dialogue options reflecting that.) I'm glad Dragon Age isn't an open world.

Handling the epilogues would be great, but it would require a lot of work. Personally, I think it's worth it, though.

I disagree on no new Blights, however. I want to know more about the Darkspawn. Where do they REALLY come from? (I'm of the opinion the Maker does not actually exist.) What is the fade? Are the Archdemon's really the old gods? What are the old gods? Where do they come from? I like answers, and a new blight may shed light on those.

1) At least 5 party members, preferably 6.

First off your guy is always there, which means you get three choices.

You are basically forced into a healer if your charectar is not one, meaning you get two choices.

The loss of chests feels as though you are pressured into a rogue.

Tanks are a great asset, pressuring you to have one.

To me, it leaves very little choice in matters,

2) Better DLC. Shale and wardens keep are very lackluster.

Wardens Keep - Levi has a big family my arse. If he really had a big family, why can't the keep be fixed, and instead of the camp, have your army gathered at warden keep? Also, why is it not able to be entered after you finish it? That's stupid.

Shale - Personally, I find her usefulness very, very limited. Her ranged abilities blow, you have to "Stance Dance" like crazy, which is constantly putting her in a state of vulnerability. Her raw damage just doesn't make up for it, and her damage resistance is generally low.

3) At least 3 charectars of each class.

Warriors: Ogrehn, Sten, Allister, Mr. Spoiler

Mages: Morrigen, Old mage lady, (Jowen shoulda been an option imo)

Rouge: Lileana, Bi-sexual dude, (The duelist shoulda been an option there perhaps?)

Technically a warrior, but unclassified: Dog, Shale

4) Make some specialties a class, such as templar, shapeshifter, ranger

5) Give "classless" charectars like Dog more abilities and talent points, and armors spots.

Better villains. Loghain completely stole the show from the Archdemon who was in and of itself lame since all it did was roar, and the game has plenty of references to Dragons somehow communicating their thoughts to those who could hear them, yet the Archdemon just roars. MEH.
