Just as the title says, if you import you save data from Origins that had your Warden sacrifice themselves to kill the Archdemon, when you start the Awakening DLC they will be alive again, with no explanation whatsoever. Just a huge plot hole.
How is the Warden resurrected in Awakening?

Canonically, they aren't. Gameplay-wise, this is something that will be rectified in the Keep.

Phoenix Down.
Plus, there is something called a Revival Spell, assuming that at least Wynne has the Spirit Healer specialization.

I know, didn't think it worked lore-wise though. If it did, we'd probably have Cailan back.

A wizard did it.
Which wizard?

No, it works. It's just that it's meant to reverse being beaten unconscious, and thus doesn't work if you're actually dead. (Note that according to the Codex someone who's really good can bring someone back who has undergone clinical death, but that seems to work under Princess Bride rules.)

This is what makes the most logical sense. I only have one Warden who made the sacrifice, but it would be utterly stupid if he stood up at his funeral and dusted himself off, saying "It's okay, everybody. I'm fine. Just a prank."I think it would've been better if they just gave us the option to make an Orlesian warden if ours made the sacrifice.

I guess maybe the soul of the Old God wasn't as powerful as we thought. Not enough to destroy the Warden's with it as well, or maybe we just absorbed it and became more powerful? There can be only one?

Yep the carry over with Awakening is pretty messed up.
If you made the US and choose to play as a new Warden-Commander, your previous decisions don't carry over (Who's ruling Ferelden, Loghain Alive etc...).
Here is a workaround available on PC and you need to activate the console:

No, you really are dead. All the stuff you did in Awakening actually was done by the Orlesian Warden who you wish you'd been allowed to play as. That's going to be made clear later.

Urgh. Now I want to do a run through Awakening with a zombie version of my Poor!Dead!Surana. (File under: this is why I shouldn't go anywhere near the DA fandom.)

I did The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, and Return To Ostagar with zombie Alistair fighting alongside my Surana, and the latter two with a zombie Loghain alongside my Amell. What you shouldn't do is go near me. I am weird.

I think I've a Warden that would totally do that, but yeah, Orleisan import would've been great.

It would. It must have been an oversight, because if it was planned, then I don't know what the devs were thinking. But at least we can play through Awakenings as the Orlesian warden and we have the Keep to iron out the inconsistencies retroactively.

So getting stabbed, being punched over and over again by an ogre, burned alive, electrocuted, chewed on, and having your organs exploded by a blood mage will only leave you unconscious?
Nitpicky? Yes. But I'm not a fan of the whole "gameplay-story" segregation thing. That just sounds like a convenient and round-about way of saying "because the plot says so".

To be fair, the only one that sounds to me like it'd be immediately lethal is that last one.

On my first play-through where my character died (ultimate sacrifice), at the funeral she sat up and was alive. Alistair asked her how this happened and she said "I think Morrigan saved me". I can't remember which mods I had installed back then, but I think Karma's Companions was one of them. I could run all around Redcliffe and talk to people but could not leave the area, and once I talked to someone they ended up out in the water.
So, I figured if the DR was turned down, Morrigan found another way?

Canonically, she did not. I am quite certain that if that did happen, that was a mod.

I'm playing on PS3, so no mods for me. At least not that I know of.

Oh no, what you describe isn't a mod. That's just Awakening being lazily programmed and out of sync with canon.
