I've never done it, but I've heard people who stop following a game before release.. In recent years I've been victim to leaks and big spoilers that have ruined things for me. Though Bioware is usually good at being hush hush, I feel like i should stop following at some point.

What's your plans up until release?

I haven't looked at videos or opened any threads that look to be spoiler-ish for a couple months now.

Whenever I can re-establish a sense of self-control. This may or may not couple with how bored I am at work.

For Mass Effect 3 I was on media blackout the entire time, and it worked wonderfully.

I usually stop a week before because sometimes people with early copies can be assholes, but I don't think I'll be doing it this time around

I keep planning on going into hiding a few days before launch, but I never actually manage to stick to my plan. Even when I think it's safe, somehow spoilers seem to appear days before launch anyway, so I've sort of given up on being totally spoiler-free before playing - lol. That being said, I guess it would probably be a good idea to go into hiding at least 30 days before launch maybe?

I'm in the UK so... from the 18th at the very latest, but more likely a week before, just in case people get early copies. I'll need to unsubscribe from everything on here too. *makes note to self* I have terrible self control though, ugh, I really want this game.

October 31st/November 1st... unless spoilers get posted on the forum before then.  I figure 18 days is enough of a buffer zone.

Forums are actually the one thing I'd like most to avoid, as the negativity always becomes rampant in the lead-up and then follows strongly after release (this is true even for games that have been highly praised like BG2 or DAO).

I was hoping Destiny would eat up my bored-at-work time, but I pretty much already know everything there is to know about that game at this point...

A week before release at the latest, though I haven't been as active on the forums as I used to be.

At release day, since I get it at the 20th or 21st. I don't want to see spoiler videos, threads, pictures or DA Wiki pages. Until I have DA:I myself, I will keep away.

My plan is to start avoiding DAI news on the 13th of November, when EA Access begins. I want to avoid DAI spoilers, so I can really enjoy the game.

Just before release probably since I did not go for priority shipping I'll get it a couple days after it is released from Aamzon.

I'll probably disappear once November rolls in and block Tumblr tags the closer we get to launch. Work will eat up most of my time, so for once I'm pleased with all day/every day shifts. Gonna have to send out a mass text a few days before the 18th to warn everyone that I will cease to exist for some time….

Honestly not sure if I'll do a media hiatus for DA:I, wish I had took one after ME3 and the space copies seemed like there was ton of spoilers cause of those early copies people got. Since they aren't doing early copies for DA:I as far as I know don't see much point in taking a media haitus though will probably avoid some major sites around release just to be safe.

In my opinion, they're revealed A LOT about Inquisition so far.

I've stopped following most of the information and media releases just recently though, I've had my "fill" of even minor spoilers. I haven't watched the recent stream in which they revealed the character creation and supposedly presented new game-play footage.

I want to be surprised by the game, I don't want to go in and before it happens telling myself "oh, it looks exactly like it was in that video I saw two months ago". I especially blame myself for actually following ALL the media and info reveals to this point, however, probably shouldn't have. I should have been content with the Post-E3 video. I couldn't resist to watch (and ask for) more at the time but now I'm controlling myself. I just know that if I keep following everything that right before the game's release I'm going to see a spoiler that I will forever regret seeing... so far the "spoilers" I've seen are minor... but spoilers nonetheless (for me anyway).

Also, BioWare, the less you reveal the better, slow down a bit, not sure if revealing the character creation was that necessary, could have been a surprise for all of us (fortunately, it will be for me).

I plan to start avoiding the internet at the beginning of November.

Somehow spoilers always seem to pop up before the games even come out and it will only get worse once the early access starts. People always post big spoilers in thread titles faster than mods can delete them and I definitely don't want DAI to be spoiled for me.

After the first reviews come in. I usually read 1 or 2 non-spoilery ones (to make sure my expectations aren't so high I end up disappointed), after which its a full black-out. No BSN, no Wiki, no Tumblr or any gaming sites. Also trying to avoid any majorly spoilery posts... but I've already failed in that regard (in the case the post in question wasn't a fake).
