This is actually my first year to follow a game such as Inquisition. I don't bother with E3 stuff, never been to forums, don't read reviews, but do check a trailer or two for a game, and that is it.
This year I followed games a bit more, mostly DAI, and wont need to media blackout myself for most part. I can spoiler myself worse than what I can on here.......ie will have the game guidebook, but I don't read ahead first time through.
When do you start your media hiatus?

Never do, I don't mind spoilers since seeing/hearing/reading about something is way different than experiencing it.
Isn't that the exact reason spoilers are bad, though? Robbing you from ever getting the true experience?

I know myself. I will be unable to keep away from the forums. Also, I'll try to avoid heavy spoilers, but with a game that long, I'm not sure I'll be able to remain unspoiled before I finish my first playthrough.
It's no big matter. My enjoyment has never been dependent on not knowing what's going to happen.

I still enjoy the games of DAO and DA2 after at least six each with no issues.
I don't see having an issue with DAI myself. I did spoiler myself on couple other games that I've already went above 100 hours on, so I didn't accidentally miss something the first time.

For Mass Effect 3 I was on media blackout the entire time, and it worked wonderfully.
Lol, lucky you. Just think of those that got on the hype-train known as ME3 and got driven off the cliff known as the "ME3 ending".

Did ME3 fail to live up to the hype in anyway bar the ending?

Personally I don't care one way or the other, but I guess the free "ending dlc" and ea just happened to be voted the worse company in America (evening beating all those evil banks and walmart) that year should answer you question.

Starting tomorrow, actually: now that the DAI Artbook has been released in Russia, and some leaker posted it online. I have already been majorly spoiled by finding out that someone Iwasn't expecting, is appearing.

My will is weak.
"Oh no, Russia has the art book. I don't want to see!"
And I immediately went looking for art.
Thankfully I am still unspoiled. Don't know how long that will last for though.
I WANT to be surprised by the events in DAI.
Need to keep reminding myself of that.

Where it was posted? I want to know which site I should avoid right now.

I'm planning to drop off the grid once the Keep goes online. I can still remember my utter cluelessness when I first played DAO and how much I loved not exactly knowing what was going to happen. For DA2 I got the biggest spoiler imaginable (yeah, someone told me about the end-game *grr*) so the experience story-wise wasn't comparable.
I've been trying to avoid even the slightest spoilers (I only ever watched one twitch and it was the one with the character creator), I never looked in any of the topics concerning the companions (except Varric^^), and once the Keep gets released, I'll be gone from the forum until I have my copy of the game^^ Hopefully I'll be able to stay true to that plan, hasn't worked so well in the past^^ But I'll just need to get myself something else to do, maybe I'll even finish the painting I have started months ago *lol*

I don't know exactly, because I was spoiled by a different link, and that link's poster got it from here. I know it's being subtly discussed in one of the character threads, but I don't want to say which,(because it would give you an idea of what the spoiler is). The one I was spoilt with, was a massive one. SO Yeah, avoid story and character threads, I guess.

One of the Artworks is a MAJOR spoiler, so I suggest not looking up art TBH.

I'm going to start avoiding the forums when people start playing the game. If I remember correctly some people get it a month early due to an Xbox One early access thing, so I guess I'll tune out around then.

I'll go media blackout at some point in November, probly around the early access crap.
Whats gonna be harder is that ive preordered the guide as well. What if that comes at lot earlier than the game? Temptation will be at my very fingertips. Especially as i plan to read the making of bit and the stuff to do with abilities and things, in case i decide to not be a Sword and shield, and to help mr pick what spec im gonna be. Also, probly Multiplayer bits and pieces. Its gonna be hard. But perserverence or death!

No media blackout. i'd like to know the ending of the game before i buy. See whether the inquisitor gets mysteriously disappeared at the end of the game.

I was going to leave after the romances things were sorted out but I ended up sticking around and luckily haven't encountered many spoilery type things since then (there are others I would have liked to avoid prior...but whats done is done). Now I was probably going to leave come November, but since this whole Art Book thing I've been hearing about, I'm thinking I might have to pull the plug sooner...

So, in all honestly, asked of anyone who has read some of the Art book leaks:
How high is the spoiler risk?
If there are no spoilers over and above the spoilers in the leaked achievements, then I'm good.
If there are further spoilers beyond those leaked achievements then I'm in big trouble.
What is the risk level please (without any kind of hinting about what the spoiler might be) ?
Thanks.

I was hoping to make it to the end, but if I see or hear about anything from this art book thing again I'll have to quit and wait out the month of 'I'm so excited but I can't talk about it with any of my friends or family because they don't understand' without any reprieve from forum-going.
@Sofajockey: I've seen one picture, and for a page from an artbook it was more than I would have ever wanted to see. I avoided the achievements topic, so I can't tell you on a scale, but if you care about spoilers at all I would say that you'd regret it.

The artbook has pictures of characters who probably will appear in Inquisition. (But then again, it's just concept art so they might not appear, but if there's concept art there must be some plans for them appearing somewhere, so...). So yeah, I'd personally estimate the spoilers pretty high.
And with that, I'm starting my BSN blackout right now. Going to that spoiler thread proved that I'm way too weak-willed for this dangerous environment. I'll follow the official FB and Twitter news though, since anything released there is sanctioned by Bioware.
