Which is fine. I'm not a "one night stand" kind of guy, so I was framing the question more in terms of whether you think something long-term would work out; I think there'd be too many obstacles. Not saying it'd be impossible, just a lot more difficult than people may think. Asari may look a lot like humans, but the mind-melding thing would be a major wrench in the works, just like Drell memory would have a huge impact on basic interaction.I thought it was a one night stand sort of thing. One of those things were you come, you see some things about xenobiology, and you conquer.
If they was real, do you think you could get with an asari?

I personally dislike this question of "could you get with an asari" why? because you are not seeing them as people, and if there is one thing that the ME universe has done is make the aliens individuals. While certainly the Asari are attractive, I think it more is a matter of who that particular asari is and if we actually like each other.

I don't see the Asari as people; well, at least as much as the other races. As a species they were added as the blue, sexy alien, fan service race so on a wide spectrum I view them as such.

Agreed, but I think by me2 & 3 there are sufficient counter examples to show that this is not the case anymore.

I have trouble even dealing with members of my own species, so I doubt that I would have the self confidence needed to pursue an Asari, or Quarian.
I probably end up alone at a bar, drowning in my sorrows…..
I just made myself sad.

I wonder how long it will be until the "do Asari enjoy vaginal sex" discussion flares back up.
...really?...why did you have to bring that back up? I was finally able to mostly repress that from memory...
At least the Quarian Sweat Thread was funny, but Xil's thread...no, just no

Hah, that has got to be one of my longest-lived contributions to the forum discourse, followed by the Quarantine Theory of Mage-Templar relations.

Xil got it from me, back from some thread on the ME2 forum. I started it on a drunken ramble a few years ago.

Um, the asari are great and all, but not really my type. As a pansexual, I draw the line at real life xenophilia. Not to mention I'm happily married and have been monogamous for over a decade. ![]()

Sure, why not? No Turians though, thanks. I'd really have to see what Quarians look like before I commit to that, but Asari: hell yeah!

If aliens were real and you'd want to have body contact with them you'd have to deal with alien bacteria and/or viruses, all kinds of germs that their immune system adapted to (but yours didn't). I don't even want to imagine the diseases you could get from that. So no thanks. Also, I don't think tentacles on the head are very attractive.

For a sec, I was. TIM and Kelly Chambers are known for their xenophile adventures if you know what I mean. I am not against being xenophiles but I am more of a traditional human lover myself. Self Admitted Hyprocritical Moment: I have a bit of a crush on Samara. Lets face it, she needs some loving.

Compared to some of the other derails I've seen on this board, this one is rather timid.Did this went from "Would you be able to date an asari?" to "Do I need a condom to mate with an asari?"
EDIT:still, I got my amusement out of this thread.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the whole gig with the asari that it is a purely mental thing?
You're wrong in this case. The comics explicitly talked about the physical act being apart of it. It's like a bonus; not needed, but a lot of fun. ![]()

I think so for the most part, which would make any concerns about STDs null and void. However, they still kiss, so I guess you could theoretically get something if both of you had mouth sores.Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the whole gig with the asari that it is a purely mental thing?
Still, the whole idea behind mental stimulation or ecstasy doesn't bother me, since pain/pleasure signals from nerves are interpreted by the brain anyways.
EDIT: @Natashina- I stand corrected.

I always thought it'd have been funny if Shepard's face was puffed up with allergies, speech slurred, after romancing one of the dextros in ME2. All the way through the end of the suicide mission.I think so for the most part, which would make any concerns about STDs null and void.
