Asari pretty much ****** themselves for 1/3 of their lifes. So I'd say it wouldn't be a challenge.

I always thought it'd have been funny of Shepard's face was puffed up with allergies, speech slurred, after romancing one of the dextros in ME2. All the way through the end of the suicide mission.

Also, yeah, don't get us started on the weird ode to Liara that is the Genesis comic...

Highly unlikely. There seems to be no realistic possibility that the asari population would be uneducated about safe sex.

Since no fluids are passed between Asari bonding partners the point is mute.  I suppose there could be some neurological transfer as in star trek a bad mind meld, but the Asari probably have a handle on that also.

Even if they look attractive in video games in real life it might be a different story. You'd really see how blue they are for example. And those tiny scales... Keep in mind there are people who claim to be attracted to turians yet in real life that would be like being attracted to a bipedal dinosaur.

 

The asari do have that "love spell" to attract mates so who knows how we'd feel. And it seems they have no shortage of people wanting to "bond" with them so you'd have to win them over.

You're wrong in this case. The comics explicitly talked about the physical act being apart of it. It's like a bonus; not needed, but a lot of fun.

To be honest I have never read them, and from what I have seen never intend to. I consider the games the only reliable source of information (I'm not sure you can even buy the things over here, Internet excluded obviously).

It's still considered canon though, according to BW.  Not all of the stuff from the EU is automatically canon, but the comics have been confirmed.  So yeah, asari have physical sex.

 

You're free to ignore it though.  Nothing wrong with that IMHO.  There is some stupidity over in the Dragon Age EU that's canon that doesn't affect my games directly, so I choose to ignore it.  

 

Besides, I don't know about you, but I remember those Liara romance scenes very clearly and let me put it this way: There is no way in hell that all took place mentally, especially since you can see the cabin in the background.  It was confirmed for me that they indeed like the physical act when Liara wakes up nude.

I suspect that part of it is to give people something to look at.. it could have been far more interesting to have it purely done in the mind though. Just not sure how it would be shown and make it clear what the hell is going on.
I guess the point is that there is no reason for the asari to have the same sexual functions as humans like they seem to (apart from having no nipples obviously), the reason I suspect they do is 1) lack of imagination as they are just blue humans 2) ignoring their own lore 3) naked liara always goes down well.

Er, no nipples?  How do you know this?  We never see that much of any asari's boobs, and what lies under clothing mesh in-game doesn't count.  Otherwise, all humans would be like Ken Dolls; no nipples and no outward genitalia.  

 

I don't know how they would be ignoring their own lore.  I've haven't seen anything stating that asari never have physical sex.  Only that they don't have to have it in order to reproduce.  After playing the entire series for the third time in the last few months, and geeking out on the in-game codex I don't see how the physical act is contradicting their lore.  They can and do have sex for fun, same as many other species in the ME games.  

 

Also, Asari have always been more or less blue humans mixed with Tolken-like elves (via the elitism and long life spans) with sorta psychic powers, tentacles for hair and advanced technology.  I don't consider this a bad thing, but the whole asari in general are a huge case of Your Mileage May Vary.

 

Anyhow, I know that they wouldn't be my type in real life.  You might get someone like Liara...or you could end up with someone like Mornith.  I dated enough crazy women in my past without me becoming concerned they would kill me and get a drug-like rush from it.

Anyway you are correct that there is nothing saying they don't, it's more the point of why would they (especially as it appears to be in a human specific way).

You are right about asari being a ymmv species. I have my own thoughts on why this is though, but that's for another time.

Maybe, who knows? It's probably not the sort of thing you'd be able to tell unless it you actually meet one, which is rather problematic when they're not real. Perhaps a very good cosplayer.

If you can't see it without freecam then it's no information IMO. I don't expect stuff to be modelled that isn't going to be visible in normal play. There's a conveniently-placed glowing light on the banshees (please don't post pictures of other parts of banshees).

In ME1, Liara says something like 'physical contact may or may not be involved' in regards to asari reproduction, so...

 

Anyway, answering the question... Well, I'm unlikely to WANT to in the first place, given that I'm a gay man and the asari read as female to me. And honestly, I HATE the idea of doing the meld in real life. I wouldn't invite my closest friends into my head, no way I'm doing it just for the sake of saying 'I did it with an alien!'

Well, there goes that thought of enabling fly cam for action shots while taking out Banshees.  Even if there is a glowing light over where their lady bits used to be.

Exactly, Turians and Salarians look cool in the game, but if you imagine a real one actually standing and moving in front of you it'd be terrifying. Asari might be less so because let's be honest, they were designed to be a race of sexy women, but still, the head folds and the scales might just look wrong in person.

 

But then you never know, in a society where humans have been living with aliens for a generation I imagine most people would get used to it.

Of course, the fact that asari seem to be pretty much only alien race who can have sexual relations with humans without medical problems is a huge plus.
