Since I play completionist, I was thinking about how many games I would play and how long would it take. I realized the number of hours to do all the possible characters and combinations is very large. 8 characters * 9 specializations * 120 hours is 8640 hours. The absolute max I can play during a week is 30 hours between work and other obligations. That is 288 weeks or 5.5 years. Now I know I won't play fighters or females since I don't play fighters well and am I'm not a female. Even with that reduction I can see playing this game for the 3 years after it comes out to do the stories I want to try. And I don't even get into multiple love interests. So how long are you going to play?

I certainly don't intend to restrict myself to only one game for several years.

I'll play it once, then if the urge to replay for something else (class, story choices, etc) is high, maybe I'll do another run right away, otherwise I'll let it rest for a few months and play other stuff (or the MP).

I'll definitely do every quest and discover everything I  possibly can on my first playthrough, as I like to be a completionist about my games as well. So probably at least the predicted 120 hours, if not more with time spent crafting and hunting and what have you. I don't typically play through games like this a second time in rapid succession, so the majority of my secondary game time played with this game will most likely be spent in multiplayer with potentially another playthrough further down the line. Depending on how much variation this game has though multiple playthroughs may be in the works quicker than expected :).

Hm, for as long as the game has my attention. For example, I have well over 500 console games and have only ever finished a dozen or so. Right when I lose interest in a game, I might not pick it back up again for years. Hell, two thirds of those games haven't even seen the inside of their respective console! I attribute this to having the absolute worst attention span of anyone on the planet. :(

From what I've seen of DA:I so far, I believe it will hold my attention for many, many hours; in fact, BW's games are some of the few that I've managed to complete several times over. Even if I don't manage to finish the game's main story (have yet to finish Skyrim in that regard), I have no doubt I'll put several hundred hours into the game along with creating a dozen or more PCs. I will certainly try my best, though, to see at least one character make it to the end with Thedas saved and their LI alive, at least. No promises. :3

For as long as the game holds my interest. How long this is depends on how good a job Bioware does, though I'll note that I've stuck with DA:O for 11 playthroughs, gotten through DA:A eight times since buying myself a copy for Christmas, and beaten Neverwinter Nights more times than I can count.

It really depends on how much I like a game and how long to takes me to beat it. I'm also a fan of many gaming genres so I don't want to confined myself to just DA.

For now, I have three games planned, my one which I usually follow my own sense of morality when I play, the second which is the evil game and the third usually picking the 'third' option. All for story purposes. ^_^ but when I do play, I try to play a mostly competition run. If the remaining quests are tedious I don't bother. "Find all the hidden McGuffins!"

I still play and make new Origins files... so I'll be playing a long time, regardless of how fast or slowly I go through each playthrough.

Given the length of time it takes me to finish games these days it will probably be years.

So as long as it takes.

Looking at my Bioware history, i think i will manage 3 consecutive completionist playthrough before i need some distance from the game. I'll have to see how long it takes to get back to it, i still play DAO and DA2 from time to time. The problem is i have 6 world states planned with concepts for Inquisitors. Three of those will probably be left in the dust for some time and i can't decide which those will be.

If it allows you to carry on after the main quest is over and you can return to previous locations (which you can ) then I will be playing forever like I am in Skyrim. ;)

Question: Could never ending games take over now? Is this the norm for games?
