Getting ready for another hard mode run. Need a good healer build for my Spirit Healer Hawke and a good tank build for Aveline.

Healing is fun for me but you don't need a strict tank so you can build Aveline for offense and she works out fine. I take out the line for shield defense because she just squads down and lowers her offense. For me she does fine without it. I also go mostly Strength with just enough Constitution for her Shield. I've done hard difficulty but not Nightmare. If you practicing for that I don't know what is best.

For Aveline (as with most DA2 companions), the unique tree is pretty much gold. For a tank build, fill it out (Retribution is skippable). But you won't get it until level 7, so in the meantime, work towards getting Perception and Safeguard from the Weapon and Shield tree, and Taunt and Bravery from the Warmonger tree. The Defender tree is pretty much redundant for Aveline unless you're going to use a lot of AOE spells and you want to give her a bit of magic protection. So if you have points to spare, you're better off dipping into Battlemaster for Deep Reserves and Second Wind.
