Shotgunne Omni Blade all day. One day the requisitions office was closed and I headed to the Asari quarters and grabbed one. In wave three I finally got rid of her and could use her toy gun as handle.

The weapon of choice for Vanguard should be the Graal because the charge-up shot and biotic charge go so well together.

But the omni blade adds weight to an already heavy weapon slowing down your Biotic Charge which means you can't keep your barrier up. The whole point is a super fast cool down so you can charge constantly & keep your barrier up. With the Collector SMG you never drop. You can have the whole wave gang up on you & you won't drop. You can take on 4 - 6 Primes & tons of Pyros, Rocket Troopers & Hunters & just laugh at them. The only things that have a tiny chance of taking you down are the Bombers. And you want more power damage for your charge & fire explosions rather than more melee strength.

Take Bonus Power at tier 6 on BC ... try this

The KroGuard's powers are pretty slow to CD anyway - putting Barrier on makes them even slower - and you've got so much Barrier that you can easily afford to tank it more than any other Vanguard (except perhaps the BatGuard)... and don't underestimate the added survivability of being in Rage mode (25% DR with the build above)... something that's so much easier to achieve with the omni-blade.

Correction: The real Korgan weapon is a Graal that also fires Thresher Maws.

I have to disagree completely, myself, due to my observations with Biotic Charge glitches.

Bonus Power charge tends to have this very awkward effect where the animation starts, but then nothing happens. You do not get your barriers back, AND the cooldown starts. For the longest time, I used the Barriers Restored variant, and Vanguards are actually my most played class. I NEVER encountered this ONCE until I tried Bonus Power AFTER getting the BotB banner, and in the first game with Bonus Power, this was happening nonstop and my team was like "Yeah, that's a very common glitch." Apparently not, if I didn't encounter it ONCE in over 300 hours before that!

It happens multiple times per WAVE if I have Bonus Power. It NEVER happens when I have Barriers Restored.

That right there is all the reason I will EVER need to NEVER take Bonus Power on charge again.

Then you haven't played a full barrier restoring vanguard nearly enough. It happens, and it happens quite a lot, in laggy environments. I've never used bonus power myself, so I can't say if there's a correlation between those two things, but if you say you never experienced it with barrier evolution then I am inclined to say it's just a coincidence.

I have legit never had that happen with Barriers Restored. I've had charges that didn't quite work right but still gave me my barriers back, but I've never had the cooldown WITHOUT the barrier, even in the laggiest off-host games I've ever had.

The bonus power version without the barriers and the cooldown happens to me ON HOST. And I was experiencing this when home alone, so no torrenting roommates or anything.

Maybe you're right and I just got lucky with the Barriers Restored variant, but I HAVE played vanguards specifically for over 150 hours, easily (My 300 before was more like what it took to get BOTB. I stayed in Silver too long.) and if you play it that long without encountering the glitch, you change one variable, and then suddenly you're saturated with glitches? Sure, correlation does not equal causation and all that, but it IS a scientifically sound hypothesis that if something changes drastically with one change in variables, that the change was likely caused by that one variable.

I'm going to experiment again next time I play, maybe the servers were just having a very awkward week.

Yeah, but I'm telling you: it happens with the barrier evolution too. I only vanguard on host, and I've had that happen countless times, although still rarely. And you can ask around, and everyone here will say the same, pretty much. Heck, I think I even have some of that recorded! So... It either was a coincidence, or your charge works differently than the one of most bsners. I think the first hypothesis is more likely ;)

....

I'm not trying to be a dick - but I've an additional 2000 hours on you and I've had probably every BC glitch going at one point or another from being grabbed out of the air mid-charge by a Banshee synch-kill to having the charge cancel on me mid-animation and bouncing me back to where I've started, flying off the map in the early days of MP to the extremely common "just not working" (which I think is actually a targeting issue)... and I've never noticed a significant difference between using the barrier recharge evo and the bonus power evo in triggering glitches.

... but then I only use Bonus Charge on 2 kits (and only since they buffed it to be 50% - IIRC it was about 30% originally).

Actually, on the just not working issue, I find that taking any action at all between charges makes it work again. Even with a freakishly fast cooldown, you can't just repeatedly spam charge, as there's like a hidden secondary cooldown specifically for charge, that melee/shooting/etc resets. It's kind of like the delay on a Juggernaut's second Heavy Melee in a row; dropping a hex shield, using a light melee, etc, will let you use that second drain faster.

Again, these are just my observations. What you're both saying makes sense.

If only Bayonetta would make a guest appearance in ME4...she does quad wield, which sounds very Krogan.

I'm not entirely convinced I'd want to see a Krogan whip all it's armour off to use as a magical space whip though...

Only younglings use weapons other than the own forhead.
And in this case both Claymore and Graal are acceptable

This.

And as for claymore or graal - why not both at the same time? ;)

I'm in danger of running out of likes in this single topic!

If I HAD to give a black/white answer to the OP, then I prefer the graal, obviously with an omni-blade. The sound effect, the HUGE METAL SPIKES... it's just perfect.

But real krogan don't get hung up over these petty preferences - real krogan ask the question, "in the face, chest or quad?" :)

The Graal is as Krogan as you can get. Made by krogan to kill thresher maws and explodes heads like a food storage cannon on a pyjak. Runner up is ME2 claymore since only krogan and and Shepard can wield it.

Instead of creating a new topic I may as well ask this krogan related question here.

What do people spec for the level 6 of the biotic hammer (and elec for that matter)

Is an extra charge more beneficial than force and knockdown benefit?

I always take the extra charge on Biotic, and I don't spec into the other one.

I'd only use the electric one if i was trying to get tech challenge points.

this is what i do also. extra charge comes in handy and you only need one hammer power for hammer time!

And with a light enough load out, you're ready to recharge after two triple taps.

Another question, I don't play the class that often, do you get the baseball swing by going light melee right after a heavy melee?
