The basic humans that aren't Soldier or Infiltrator are good even if You're weapons are crap

Generally I agree with you, but I'd modify this slightly. The HSol and HInf are fine on Silver even with basic weapons as long as one has the right ammo supplies. Cryo HSol with cryo ammo and Avenger is not bad and very easy to play becuse Concussive Shot. HInf with Mantis and AP ammo is reasonably effective because Tac Cloak.

That said, HEng FTW.

Also, I had a game with the OP and a couple pugs yesterday, (Jade/Collectors/Bronze) and they did just fine (score nearly 40k), and we got full extraction. He'll be joining the UUGs very soon.

I challenge you to find someone who is genuinely helpful on objectives, revives, doesn't die constantly and scores <40k on 11 Waves of UUG.

Sabotage spam doesn't count.

I'm not sure you grasp how low 40k is. It's pretty close to AFK.

40k is definitely not close to AFK. 8k is and it made me wonder how is actually possible to be running around and not get more points just by accident. But my earlier point still stand - if they don´t die and don´t create mess, I don´t care about their score.

And Deerber is right, if there are very good players in lobby, the gap between them and the rest will be bigger, but it doesn´t mean others are not helping or noobs.

Are you saying you've seen 8k from someone after 11 waves?

Because that... that's actually rather impressive in a backward sort of way.

I don't think I could score that low even if I actively tried to do so.

Don't stay in once place too long. Keep moving around the map clockwise or counterclockwise.

Use walls for cover as much as possible.

Don't fight out in the open where you can get shot from all sides like everybody else does.

Don't try to fight when you are right in the middle of all the enemies. Run away to the part of the map where there are no enemies & pick them off 1 by 1.

Don't concentrate on the largest enemy (Banshee, Atlas, Preatorian. Geth Primes) like everybody else does. The smaller enemies are far more dangerous/annoying.

Don't underestimate Marauders! You need to make Marauders & Ravagers your top priority. So many people concentrate on the Banshee while ignoring the Marauders & Ravagers. HUGE mistake!

Enemies love to spawn right behind you. There is always something shooting you in the back. Constantly turn around to make sure you are clear.. When you're absolutely positive there are no enemies behind you is when you'll get killed from the rear. Geth Pyros are especially bad with this.

Avoid fighting on the landing pad on Firebase White. It's a slaughter zone on gold & platinum. Especially against Cerberus & all their damn turrets.

If you're alone doing an objective & get swarmed by enemies run to the other side of the map & draw all the enemies there, then run back to the objective. Don't try to complete the objective in 1 shot.

I can go on & on.

Thank you all so much. That is a LOT of love I'm getting here.

I've been trying to do some of the stuff mentioned here, and it's fun. That's probably the most important bit. I'll probably come back to this when I try to break into Gold games.

At the moment, I'm just trying to get a feel for the different classes.

I started out with infiltrator, since that's always been my go-to mass effect class. After a while I got annoyed, because multi-player without the slow-down of SP makes it hard for me to snipe properly. So I switched to Adept, my second go-to class. But everyone was killing stuff and I just kept dying, so I moved on. Then: Vanguard, as mentioned above. Lots of fun, especially against reapers, even if I did get myself stabbed by banshees occasionally. Actually managed a few games on silver with that class. Tried soldier today, which is going to be a project for the the future, maybe. Doesn't really suit my style.

Then I tried Krogan Warlord Sentinel...

I still haven't stopped laughing like Wrex. I tried to play it like the other classes, but wanted to try that hammer thing. Then I found out I'm almost invulnerable on Bronze... Especially if I just melee the heck out of everything. The thing is: I never play melee... NEVER EVER. I don't like melee. Except maybe for sneak-kills. Now I can't get enough of it. I'm guessing though, that my tactics will crash and burn as soon as I try anything over Bronze. Especially if the enemy is anything but geth.

My next project is the recently unlocked Turian Sentinel, that should work well for me.

Thanks again for all the helpfulness. I really enjoyed reading this thread and I'm very happy to say that this is one of the friendliest multiplayer game forums I've ever been to.

I'm not much of a Warlord player, but from what time I have spent on it, I've learned this:

Sprinting melee pimpslap is often a better choice than using the Hammer.

warlord is still nearly indestructible on silver, just keep that rage up yo.

also if you attack a unit that can sync-kill you, do it when they are not in sync-kill mode or on an incline (stairs, ramp)

if you are not at the same elevation they cannot sync-kill you

you can also watch some youtube vids of good players playing kits you are interested in

for example, heres a link to xcaliz0rz's me3mp multiplayer playlist

pretty much every character has a video in this playlist

My next project is the recently unlocked Turian Sentinel, that should work well for me.

Make sure you're specced into both Warp and Overload and you're good to go. I like to go 4 in tech armour and fitness, and max everything else.

For the warlord, he's much maligned but he's pretty good in gold and silver, and I've run into a couple of people who can make him shine on platinum (although I can't!). The key is knowing when enemies are primed for a sync kill:

Brutes: can happen after they've melee attacked or I think after they've roared, but both are inconsistant. The chances of them doing an instant kill are low compared to most other bosses and I don't usually have a problem as long as I take them down quickly one on one. If I charge into a group of them (which is likely as I turn into a nutjob when I'm using the Krolord) then it's far more likely one of them will get me.

Banshees: will normally sync kill immediately after a teleport and have a high chance of doing so. There's a brief window between jumps that a nimble character can exploit, but the warlord should keep away until they stop and start throwing warps- they're safe to attack then.

Atlases: will only ever sync kill after a melee attack. They stay primed until they raise their gun and start shooting again so don't close in with them until you see this.

Phantoms- they're primed after a melee attack and can stay primed for a little while, I've had them dodge or even get staggered, then immediately stab me with no warning. Best tactic is to use a charging melee to stagger them whilst they are using their palm blasters, then use the hammer before they recover, but if you miss get out of the way fast and don't take on two or more at once.

Scions: like atlases, are primed after a melee and remain so until they raise their cannon arm back up, so back off and wait until they start shooting again.

Praetorians: primed after a melee attack but it's so quick you often won't have time to get out of the way. If you try and get them when they're flying, biotic or electric hammer will cause them to put up their shield, and they'll usually just land and sync you. I find the best tactic is to nip in just as they start firing their lazers, give them a smack then back off before they have a chance to melee you. All other times just use your gun.

General tactics:

I would still take a good gun (any shotgun so you can have the omniblade mod) and shoot bosses as much as possible, only moving in to melee when you're sure it's safe. I also only go for the bosses when there's no other targets avaliable (with the exception of primes)

With your current manifest, the eviscerator or Scimitar would be ok for silver, but you'd be better off having the claymore, reegar, venom or graal to take him to gold.

An adrenaline module is far more valuable than cyclonics or any other armour mod for that matter. Without it, you might find it tough to get out of range of primed sync kill enemies fast enough.

No enemy can sync kill you if you're both on a ramp and at different levels. Be careful if the enemy (banshees especially) are at the top of a ramp on the flat surface as they can still get you if you're on the ramp and close enough to them.

Have fun with your reaper whack-a-mole

^I've gotten to where I insta-nuke turrets on the landing pad - especially if it's Hazard White w/ low visibility. Often there's three turrets there if no one has been paying attention ... Way too many revive parties have taken place on/near that landing pad - just needs the Yakety Sax theme to make it a true party.

Try being the Volus Adept and not helping to detonate/prime anything with the orbs. Or using any enhanced weapons.

Yeah, honestly the elite mooks are the most dangerous enemies in the game. Scions and especially Ravagers at least give you a bit of warning and take at least three shots to kill you. Marauder? Boom, dead, especially if you're playing a class with lower shields. The worst thing bosses do is push you into the mooks that will actually kill you.

Which might suggest playing with classes with lots of shields, but that is wrong. One thing I really feel strongly about is not playing with classes that have a lot of shields. While using those shields to your advantage will get you into gold faster, you'll ultimately be a worse player for it. That's not to say you should use a cyclonicless geth infiltrator with hunter mode on, but try using a class with lower than a thousand shields. You'll be forced to learn to use Right Hand Advantage and to keep your situational awareness up.

I'd suggest playing on bronze until you've played every map once. Then stay on Silver until you know where all the ammo crates are. By that point, you should have enough knowledge to help more experienced players and not be a drag. The transition from gold to plat is a bit trickier, but it probably has more to do with your manifest than your skills. A straight up 25% increase in damage makes a huge difference at that point, not to mention UR's. Sure, some people can solo plat with a volus and a level 1 shurikan, but they're insane. Don't be insane.

I totally ignore the landing pad & try to stay inside.

I was playing a hilarious game the other day. The rest of the team was having a revive party on the landing pad while I was hanging out in the middle level inside. While they were getting slaughtered constantly & was just standing against the wall in cover. An Engineer dropped a turret right on top of the stairs so the Atlas couldn't get by. It was hilarious to see the Atlas try to get around it. This went on for a long time until the team finally cleared the landing pad. They all ran down to the middle to fight the Atlas but I pulled out a missile & finished the wave. I was just killing time laughing at that Atlas until they were done screwing around on the landing pad. No chance in hell I would go up there to help them. I wait for the enemies to come to me.

That's another good piece of advice. Let the enemies come to you instead of running to them.

Turian Sentinel is my go to guy. I'd say use him when you're looking to transition from bronze to silver, but that depends on your playstyle. I'm not sure what the general opinion of Tech Armor is, but it's saved me from sneaky phantoms a few times.
