If you area gurl, i can give you my love, if not tips. :P

About silver or gold.

Last time when i played MP, i found some good pugs on Silver, worst was on gold, but still playable.

About packs.

At first place i recomend you get recruit packs, to max your human characters and first weapons.

Turian Sentinel is my go to guy. I'd say use him when you're looking to transition from bronze to silver, but that depends on your playstyle. I'm not sure what the general opinion of Tech Armor is, but it's saved me from sneaky phantoms a few times.

Tech Armor is awesome. One SINGLE point gets you 35% damage reduction. That's like an extra 50% on your shields, for one point. Put in three points and it'll stagger a Phantom enough to let you run for the other side of the map. Go all the way any you're basically doubling your stated shields, far better than the last point in fitness.

Actually, the whole Turian Sentinel kit is awesome. Nearly everyone here will admit that.

Turian Sentinel still a cool guy.

One of handful of characters where there are a decent number choices for builds.

TA for DR and possibly Power Damage

Good tech power

Solid biotic power

Good racial passive

Turian fitness with above average shields

Agreed. His versatility is what makes it a very enjoyable character. Very well rounded and thought out.

Well, maybe knowing ALL the ammo crates is a bit much. Knowing at least 1-2 per map isn't too much to ask for, though. Knowing spawn areas is also fairly critical to success.

Are you saying you've seen 8k from someone after 11 waves?

Because that... that's actually rather impressive in a backward sort of way.

I don't think I could score that low even if I actively tried to do so.

Challenge ACCEPTED!!!

Update:

I tried this today. Setup was Bronze (difficulty wasn't specified) and Juggernaut because there's very little on Bronze that I would have to kill to defend myself. Plan was to initiate Siege Pulse for DR, use Hex Shield for defence, and avoid the Turret so it wouldn't score for me. I was carrying a PPR and Reegar but never fired them.

First try: got Ghost/Reapers. I had to melee a couple Marauders and I held the Banshees while the others killed them. Going into W7 I had 3k, going into W11 I had about 6k. I did toss out a turret onto a device and I used the shield to block Cannibal and Ravager fire. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that the shield is specced for pulse and damage, and during W11 I blocked some Cannibals from shooting at me. The stupid bastards all walked into the shield and died. Final score, a shade under 10k.

Second try: Giant Hazard Cerberus. Had to melee a couple Turrets, and unfortunately had to put down the shield to block some Guardians at the EZ during W11. Also I seem to have been awarded some bonus points at extraction. Final score, a shade over 10k.

TL;DR I came close but didn't make it, but with a little practice and respeccing the shield I might manage it.  :P

Also, my pug teams in both games must have been curious why I walked around reviving them, helped with ojectives, and otherwise just lurked in dark quiet corners. But no one said a word.   :D

Haha, that sounds like fun.

Two questions:

1) Racial passives: Have heard them mentioned above, what are they? (Besides the evasion-moves, that one I figured out by myself ;-) )

2) What happens, when I have maxed out all my common weapons/characters/mods and keep buying recruit packs? Do I guess correctly that by that point they will start to drop only consumables and uncommons (rarely)?

It's the branch in your skill tree where you (simplified spoken) choose between Power damage and Weapon damage. There are differences between the Mass Effect races like Drell, Turian, Human... The Turian for example get additional weapon stability from their racial passives.

You will get consumables and the basic human characters. I don't know the chances for uncommons, but you want to start buying veteran packs now.

1. Just have fun.

2. Try to do your best.

3. Don't be a dick.

Everything else is gravy.

Might I ask what system are you playing this game in, OP?

In other words, it's the abilities in the fourth row of the skill tree.

I totally agree with your advice in spirit, but I find that #1 sometimes conflicts with #3...think Reactor Hazard

So others are giving you pretty comprehensive suggestions. Not much more I can do but feel free to friend me if you need someone to carry you on silver or gold. My origin ID is identical to the one shown here.

Reactor Hazard is...... I wouldn't call it a dick move. I would call it... a teaching moment.

Speaking of, lately I played with lots of people with low n7 or CP, seems like there's a lot of new people playing the game. In Gold even. Which is fine; I don't begrudge inexperienced people trying to play Gold with me, I find it to be fun, and I don't mind wasting missiles or gels to help them.

Sometimes playing with a great team can be boring, you know, hahaha. Playing with a weak team can be lots of fun too.

Except when in Rio vs Collectors. Because seriously, **** Rio + Collectors.

Update to the update. I scored 7940 on Jade/Geth/Bronze by walking around and mostly standing under the LZ, and spending most of the game admiring the awesome views.

The game of course adds to your 7500 for extraction so that target of 8k is really tight.

I've played with the OP, he definitely doesn't need carrying on Silver.

And any time playing against Collectors.

Here let me just get that Possessed Abomination off of you...

Playing Phoenix Adept with Collectors is "fun"... Lashing posessed Abominations around makes for great entertainment. :-D

I sadly found out that the game insists on giving out soldier packs if I keep buying recruit packs. Even if the human soldier is already pretty shiny (btw, any Firefly fans around?). Seems that weapon mods have the lowest chance of appearing in a pack. Which makes me kinda sad. Maxxed common mods would've made my life a bit easier.

Guess I'll stick to veteran packs for now, and the occasional Arsenal.

1. Use power classes more until you gather some good weapons. Good beginner power classes: Human Vanguard, Engineer, Sentinel, Adept. Be on the lookout for Asari Huntress, N7 Paladin, N7 Fury and of course the Juggernaut.

2. Learn to use power combos. http://masseffect.wi...ki/Power_Combos

I challenge you to find someone who is genuinely helpful on objectives, revives, doesn't die constantly and scores <40k on 11 Waves of UUG.

Sabotage spam doesn't count.

I'm not sure you grasp how low 40k is. It's pretty close to AFK.

Lol what?

Many many moons ago, in the PUG thread, I posted about a support Volus (was there in the lobby to start the match) who helped with objectives, did a few revives and some strategic shield boosting. At the very end of wave 10, I looked at the scoreboard and they had 642 points.

That doesn't make any sense.  How long was he actually in the game, surely not really since the very beginning?  You should get some XP at the end of each wave without doing basically anything.  Are you sure he didn't drop and rejoin or something?

What were the lobby settings?

He was there from the start, you only get 'extra' points at the start of wave 11. I believe it was URG. I was using a Trooper/Flamer and they kinda followed me around only triggering a Shield Boost when they heard my character exclaim re lack of shields.

At the start of wave 11 he got his 12,500(?) points added to his 642

Yeah, I was surprised to see that #, but it is certainly possible before wave 11

Edit: Map was Vancouver, not that it really matters much

2nd Edit: No medals is required to achieve that low a score (duh!) and he may have gotten 15,000 at the start of wave 11 .. I forgot if it's the enemy or the map which is worth 5k on random

Hmmm I might have to try this in a friendly game then.

All I ever did was QFI since I thought that was the best character for "helping" but not getting any points, although I ended up with 2 medals I think (5 revives and bronze tech since team would detonate my TB's every once and a while).

I was recently in a pug where at the completion of wave 3 objective, we got the "endless wave" loop, and we actually stayed for like 40 min or so because it was fun - Ravagers, abombs, and troopers or captains I'm not sure.
But I frequently checked the scoreboard and the highest scorer never went above 60 k, and we were quite even so the names would just bounce up and down on the board but even when I was on top and used a missile, the points would just distribute to all of us evenly so that the sum always stayed the same give or take a few points. The ladder places points were, you could say "fixed" so the first player always had around 58 k, and when he would get out scored, their score would just swap.
