Discussions done in a fairly matter.
People tend to be nice and helpfull.
Almost everybody shares a good deal of love for this game.
If they could rate forums i'd give it a 9 and i just don't hand them out that simple. Call of duty and battlefield forums could learn from this, but what am I comparing.
Anyhow how do you feel about these forums? Are we on the interwebs right now? Not used to this mature manner.

I do feel this may be a troll but in all honesty, I was surprised at how BSN had become less of a toxic place to have a discussion than it used to be. Perhaps thats becasue the last time I frequented here regularly it wasn't too long after ... you know... the ME3 thing.

These forums are as toxic as batrachotoxin (comes from the poison-dart frog, very toxic stuff) just hang around for a while, you'll see.

The layout helps. Although I only visited the old BSN during the whole ME3 anguish, so I don't know what they were like before that.

With no major release in the recent past, it's fairly quiet here. So it's generally only Bioware fanboys and fangirls keeping the forums alive during these quiet spells.
The masses will return like a migrating herd when Inquisition hits the shelves.
Not that I'm saying Bioware forums are especially toxic. But we have our share, just like any internet space.

Although there can be some difficult periods (ME3 ending debacle springs to mind), I generally agree, OP. For one thing, this forum is a lot more friendly towards women and lgbt people than on a few other forums I've been on. There's also plenty of social media sites that are full of more scabs and trolls than this place. If it was really so bad, I wouldn't bother visiting it.

Some threads are truly full of nice people. (And dirty minded people...)
Just drop by in the Sera thread every now and then. It's sunshines and bunnies... and... innuendos, sometimes.
It's over in the Characters subforum.

Personally, I disagree.
I find the mods are way too heavy-handed here. Rather than go after a few perpetrators of trolling/flaming/etc., they'll simply close down a legit thread, effectively ending all rational discussion on a topic. Then justify it by saying it was "getting too far off-topic", was "full of personal insults", or otherwise engaging in behaviour that can be even remotely linked to breaking a rule...even when 95% of the thread adheres to those rules!
What happened to warning/banning the offending parties rather than shutting down threads?
This was no more common place then when the ME3 shitstorm went down. The mods were indiscriminate. They shut down the legitimate complaints along with the angry rants. They may have thought they were doing damage control, but what they really did was tarnish their reputation by treating everyone as criminals.
To be sure, there were quite a few angry people back then unreasonably going off on tirades. Those people needed to be warned and appropriately punished. I imagine those people, despite their vehement insistence they'll "never purchase a Bioware game again", are still here. They'll come out of the woodwork if DA:I isn't up to their standards.

We may laugh, but there a many worse forums, so I think the OP has a slightly rosy view but in essence is correct.
I enjoy spending time on the BioWare forum.
There are probably less trolls than there used to be and they get called out quite quickly.
People can be very helpful and there's a lot of passion.
Just look at some of the garbage that passes for comment on some of the game sites (actually don't).

If they did, it was because what was originally a legitimate complaint turned into a crap thread. Or because the legitimate complaint belonged in another topic already about the subject but the OP felt like a special snowflake that needed their personal review on the ME3 ending to get its own space.
I honestly felt like the mods did okay considering how difficult it was to moderate the old archaic BSN layout, and considering how many asses were posting, and how many new threads were being made on a second-by-second basis.
In general the moderation has been better since the new site launched.

Never mention the word "elf" and you will be just fine. *reads previous sentence* Uh-oh...

No the OP is right . Just compare it to YT . here if you report a post it is taken care of . Some places no matter how much you report...you won't get any help . And even the most heated topic (chantry/Mages) everyone kind keep it clean even if they disagree . So in general I say he is right ![]()
