It was one of the times BSN was united as a whole. So many memories...

heh you think those forums are weird and toxic? Try puahate, its a community for jilted customers of pick up artist gurus. The people there are angry at pua's because their methods didnt work for them and post all kinds of strange and derogatory things about individual pua's and there is this bizarre obsession with male models and actors, they analyze every detail of a mans body and face, what makes them desirable etc. There is one in particular whose names escapes me, thats supposed to be "perfect", They will post pictures of handsome men and follow it up with "i hate my life" or "**** my life" etc etc. Then there are constant references to the "blue pill" and the "red pill" based on the matrix thing where you swallow reality or illusion or whatever. The reality being that looks are the only thing that matters. Its even funnier when they post pictures of themselves asking others to rate their jawlines and the masculinity of their face, where they exaggerate the length of their chin, frown and squint their eyes etc etc. Perhaps the reason they arent successful with women is because they arent quite honest about their own sexuality.... but i think most of them are genuinely jealous and resentful that they werent blessed with beauty.

 

edit: i know this might be controversial but there is something good to take away from the harsh backlash bioware received re da2 and me3,i dont think DAI would have been nearly as expansive and feature rich as it seems its going to be, people tend to learn more from negative experiences than positive ones sadly and they did originally plan to make expansions for da2..... The sequels of their games kept becoming increasingly "cartoonish", and thats another thing im glad they abandoned

Well there are crazies everywhere, this site has gotten bit better over the years, but that often happens as the time from last game release increases. Been here for years and seen all kinds of things. The site isn't bad by any means, I wouldn't have stayed if it was all rotten, but a lot of people take the game worlds way too seriously and even make threats cause they don't like same love interest as the next guy.

The younger guys especially seem to have tendencies towards some craziness.

hating bioware does seem to be the "in" thing nowdays, regardless of how great something they showcase is, its all crap, ea is evil, bioware is a sellout, this or that miniscule detail isnt good enough, cd projekt red is amazing, the witcher 3 amazing, cd project red is "realz" and understand "the peoplez", the graphics are crap compared to W3, its all crap compared to w3 etc etc

Yeah, some people thought ME2 had ruined the series forever when it was 1st released, funny how its seen by alot of people as the best in the trillogy now

Yes it's very nice and quiet for now but it was horrible after DA2 and ME3 hit the shelves.  The mods did become very heavy handed but I think it was due to the overwhelming amount of objectionable posts at the time.

Forum was a lot better back before the move to the current site setup. You could post comments on people's walls and stuff.

No trolls at all.

Discussions done in a fairly matter.

People tend to be nice and helpfull.

Almost everybody shares a good deal of love for this game.

If they could rate forums i'd give it a 9 and i just don't hand them out that simple. Call of duty and battlefield forums could learn from this, but what am I comparing.

Anyhow how do you feel about these forums? Are we on the interwebs right now? Not used to this mature manner.

There was a very vocal minority that hated all things Mass Effect 2, but I don't know if I'd consider that backlash a controversy. For every person posting that ME2 sucked there were 10 who were proclaiming it GOTY. With DA2 and ME3 the reverse seemed to be true.

 

Also there were some fans who complained back when ME1 and DAO were released as well. Some Baldur's Gate fans were angered that Dragon Age was a new IP rather than a BG sequel, and there were people who considered ME1 a shooter and accused Bioware of selling out. No matter how popular a game there are always going to be people who don't like it all, and disgruntled customers/fans tend to be very vocal.
