What I don't understand @OP is why Solas's baldness needs a justification.

 He has a pretty face and cute ears!  Also it doesn't matter what a companion looks like, solas or otherwise. I mean a pretty douche bag is still a douche bag. (not saying solas or anyone is a douche bag, I was just "trying" to make a point). Plus From what we know about him, his personality is going to make how he looks matter very little anyway, same to any other companion.

Solas was victim to genetics. Where as most elves can't grow facial hair, Solas can't grow hair at all.
