Or a dlc (if that's possible. Though I doubt it since there won't be any dlc as they had said).
Nonetheless, one can't stop from hoping now, can they?

They didn't say there wouldn't be any DLC content released. They have said that there will be no DLC characters (like Shale,) but that's all they've said on the subject.

It seems like in Dragon Age people from different places have different accents. Like Ferelden's british, Orlasians french, Antivan italian accent etc. So maybe in future games if they introduce new places or people from these places they could have different accent and Russian accent could be it. I don't think it'll happen in DAI though : /

There will be DLC, just not day-one DLC.
And there are no known Russian-accented cultures in Thedas, so I doubt that such an accent will ever be supported for the player.

Well I'm not hoping too much.
But of course there is an insy weenzie little itty bitty spark of hope.

If we could have a new country in some far off land then sure, it just won't fit in with the current world. It would be too difficult to justify having someone from say Ferelden or the Free Marches to have a Russian accent just because as they have there own pre-established accents. Though now I'm curious as to what the new nation would it be like. Would it even be a human nation? Are there humans outside of Thedas? Interesting possibilities for the future

I was kinda hoping they add a Russian accent in future dragon age games after DA:I (if there will still be one). I mean I dunno, I just think Russian accents are cool and kinda sexy. But I still think it's great that we can get to choose our voices now.

Kinda related, something I found interesting: in Assassin's Creed: Unity, which is set during the French Revolution, they're using English accents and dialect for the game's main protagonists. I found this really, really odd so I looked at what Ubisoft were saying about it. Apparently, they 'took tips from Hollywood' and deliberately went with English voices because it goes with the contextual feel/atmosphere. It sounded weird to me, but after thinking of historical movies it makes complete sense.
My point being, would you want to spend an entire game listening to Orlesian accents? Sorry for any French people lurking here, but no thanks. However, with next gen consoles allowing for more and more space in games, i think it would be very viable to have more options which is pretty cool. Already impressed with having two voices.

that would be cool, maybe they'll add a new race to the mix, i already saw a thread talking about that, maybe the new race will typically have russian accents. maybe the dwarves that live in the city under tervinter have russian accents instead of american ones.

Point taken. And yeah, never been really fond of french accents (sorry everyone) except for gambit.
But if you really ask me, lol of course I'd like the Russian accent. Or love it more likely. Imagine your Qunari speaking with that accent, heck I'll just keep on drooling as I keep on clicking the protagonist just to hear her/him talk. (I'm so weird I know)
Or yeah on second thought. Don't wanna ruin my keyboard and computer with my saliva. So I'm still game with the current voices.
And yeah, I'm actually excited to hear the american inquisitor voice. I still haven't heard it.

The Anders likely have a German accent. At least some locations there like Weisshaupt, Lattenfluss and Hossberg (even Anderfels itself) could very well be German places.

Nevarra is the place with the German accent. That's where Cassandra is from. We still haven't heard a native Anderfel accent, so it very well could be Russian/Slavic of some type.

It does bear a certain resemblance to medieval Prussia, with much of the political power resting in the hands of an order( the Teutonic Knights for Prussia and the Grey Wardens for the Anderfels). Also, the names of many places in the Anderfels have a rather clear Germanic origin.

A russian accent for a future DA protagonist would be amazing, getting tired of hearing american and english accents in games...
