I've noticed what seems to be an increase in Wave 8/9 disconnects lately.  That's usually when the action is the most fierce on Gold so most demanding for the whole "system" to handle.  Seems to be accompanied by some rubber banding/lag, then @#$&!.  If the latency/packet travel issues reach a certain threshold, does the game synchronizer code burp and punt people out of the game?  Is it the host dropping off and everyone else collateral damage as a result?

I wish everyone on here would do this experiment:

1. Connect via wifi to home router. Run the test at ping-test.net

2. If possible, place computer right next to router. Repeat test.

3. Connect computer to router with ethernet cable. Repeat test.

I did this a few times as I had some connectivity issues during rush hours and ISP demanded I do that. Actually, no effect on ping or speed but some small impact on packet lost. The impact is really small however, it might be enough for a mad banshee pickup or phantom stab.

Yeah, I can confirm that I've had games where MEpinger showed a very low ping lagging like hell. To the point that I uninstalled that thing, it wasn't worth the hassle.

  You probably forgot to let pinger/winpcap/java through the firewall. It is not needed but it helps. And there is no need to install it, it runs without installation. And it is quite hard to remove winpcap.

Also, no ping but good location nearby is usually a bad sign showing that a lot of packets are lost. I try to instantly quit the lobby of GiP in this case.

Eh, I'm not tech savvy. I just deleted the folder :P

Then you live somewhere that has no extraneous wifi noise. Pretty much everyone else lives in environments with constant key pick up broadcasts that cause frequent wifi connection resets, leading to random packet delays.

My ISP generally does what I tell them they need to do when I call them up, ever since I remotely diagnosed a problem with their IPv6 resolver the week they first rolled it out.

Counting the percentage of packets lost is a perfect sign showing exactly how many packets are lost. It's not rocket science.

Also, when Deerber says he's not technical, he's being overly modest, since the stuff he does IRL would twist most people's brains until they implode.

:?

Well, let's say I'm not very informed about the stuff you were discussing, okay? XD

On the other hand, I find what I do very easy and natural. Talking of twisted minds, lol
